Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell says the Obama campaign is right to go after Mitt Romney's time at Bain Capital during its reelection campaign. "Of course he has a right to go after Governor Romney's claim that he's a job creator because of his work at Bain— that's the main thrust of his rationale of why he should be elected president," Governor Rendell said Tuesday on Hardball with Chris Matthews.
Rendell had said on Tuesday morning that he found Obama's ads criticizing Romney's time at Bain "very disappointing." The Republican National Committee then cited Gov. Rendell's words as evidence that even some Democrats find Obama's Bain advertisements to be an attack on free enterprise.
When pressed by Matthews on whether he was, in fact, disappointed in Obama's campaign, Rendell said he was disappointed in virtually every political ad, because they focus on the negative points of the opposition. His only criticisms of Obama's Bain ads were with the specific wording, he said. "Would I make the ads a little different in tone? Sure I would," Rendell said. "But this deserves a full examination— whether Governor Romney is a job creator."
Rendell's initial criticisms of Obama's Bain ads came on the heels of Newark (N.J.) Mayor Cory Booker's comments that he found the ads "nauseating." Booker has since backtracked, saying he stands firmly with the president and wants him to be reelected.

It has always been bewildering why so many persons who say they support Obama keep their lips zipped. Could it be that so many of them are in a position that, heads they win, tails they win. No matter who gets the presidency, they feel they will escape the horrific effects of another assault on this country and the global economy and the world, by the international powers represented by the wealthy interests that support a Romney presidency. If these mummy-types lost their jobs, their healthcare, their retirement fund - wouldn't they describe the actors who made fortunes off the deal, as vampires??? The people who created the pre-Obama financial loodletting - wouldn't they correctly be called vampires? Those who say they support the president better start saying so or we will be back to the Bush era or worse in no time. Nauseating thought.
Neither party wants to deal honestly with the individuals who brought the U.S. economy to its knees. When it comes to Obama rolling over to Wall Street not a whisper out of MSNBC host, Rendell, Al Sharpton etc.
Bain is "fair game". Makes sense. But so is Obama's lack of effort to have his Dept of Justice go after the Wall Street banksters, sub prime loansters and foreclosure fraudsters. We have not witnessed one person who brought the U.S. economy to its knees prosecuted by the Obama administration. So Obama's re-election campaign is focused on going "Forward" while looking back at Romney's past but not his own.
I am a live long Dem (60) have worked on Dem campaigns since I was 16. This is the very first time I have ever considered not voting because of the Obama administrations unwillingness to go after the banksters. The lack of accountability
I was listening to MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning (Wednesday) everyone beat up on Romney and methods used at Bain this morning. Kept wondering when the hell someone was going to be brave enough to bring up how the Obama administration basically rolled over to Wall Street. Not one person prosecuted. Both parties rolled over to the banksters and there has been NO REAL ACCOUNTABILITY.
And up on Morning Joe comes Charles Ferguson with his book "Predator Nation" and he talks about something that most Americans Dem, Republican, Inde's can agree on neither party has gone to the mat for the American people on this issue. Not one bankster held accountable. Not one prosecution out of the Obama Dept of Justice. Then Andrea Mitchell quipped "no laws on the books to prosecute" And then Charles Ferguson responds "forgive me but there are ways to prosecute" Andrea shut up real fast.
Chris you need to have Charles Ferguson on " Predator Nation" You need to have former head litigator, investigator for the Savings and Loan Scandal Professor William Black to discuss how the Obama administration has not prosecuted any of these Wall Street thugs. Not one. Neither party is dealing with these crimes. Including Obama. Stop being such an Obama ass kisser. We need some honesty here and it is not coming out of MSNBC
Kathleen I can not possibly know the answer to your concerns out here in the West, but you did set me to go back and read some on this. Which one of us can know why President Obama, or any president for that matter, uses their discretion and prerogative in the manner done? Alas.

I knew the Obama administration would not go after the Bush administrations war crimes. I figured Obama would roll over to the I lobby and Israel on the illegal settlements and Iran. But he came into office with Dems, Independents and Republican working class folks all behind holding the Wall Street thugs accountable and they waited forever to get going on this and still we have seen little to no action. He had the majority of voters behind him on this issue and what has he done? Little to nothing. He needs to show some spine on the Wall Street debacle and not keep repeating "forward"
