Not long ago, Rep. Mike Coffman, a Republican from Colorado, told a group of backers that he didn't know whether President Obama was born in the United States. And he added: "But I do know this: In his heart, he's not an American."
After a recording of Coffman's comments was released, the congressman tried to defuse the controversy by saying that he "misspoke." An enterprising local TV reporter wasn't satisfied, and tracked Coffman down to ask him for a fuller explanation.
What ensued, shown Wednesday night on The Ed Show, was one of the most remarkable pieces of political video we've seen in quite some time.

His Democratic challenger Joe Miklosi told MSNBC's Martin Bashir, "When I first heard Mike Coffman's comments, I thought I was watching a Saturday Night Live skit."
Or as Ed put it: "He speaks like a prisoner of war: Name, rank, and serial number."

I just watched Ed lie at least twice all the while saying he was stating facts.
He said that Obama had created 4,000,000 jobs but the Bureau of Labor statistics shows we have a net loss of 1,360,000 jobs since Obama became President.
I difference in what Ed said of 5,360,000 jobs. That is a pretty big lie.
And a fact he REALLY doesn't want to talk about is that we have a net job loss of 3,893,000 jobs since the day Pelosi and Reid took power in Congress in 2007.
A period of time that followed the 6 years Bush was President with a Republican controlled House and Senate during which 6,734,000 jobs were created EVEN with 9/11, Katrina and $4.00 a gallon gas.

I don't recall Ed talking about the $5 Trillion spend since Obama became President and the fact that the unemployment rate hasn't dropped below 8% even though a senior administration official said it would if his Stimulus package was passed by Congress. Actually the rate is closer to 11% because many are no longer looking for work, e.g., social security disability, two years of unemployment benefits, living with their parents, some going back to school because of no jobs.

What race classifications did the federal and state governments use in the mid-60s on official documents like birth certificates? I think there were three primary categories. Does anyone know what they were?

I did some research and found the word "Negro" was used to classify Americans that were either black or of a mixed race - black and white or black and indian on their birth certificates.

This shocker led to around-the-clock smirk fests on MSNBC. As with all bogus social science from the left, liberals hide the numbers and proclaim: It’s “science”! This is black and white, inarguable, and why do Republicans refuse to believe facts?
Ed Schultz claimed the chart exposed “the big myth” about Obama’s spending: “This chart – the truth – very clearly shows the truth undoubtedly.” And the truth was, the “growth in spending under President Obama is the slowest out of the last five presidents.”
Note that Schultz also said that the “part of the chart representing President Obama’s term includes a stimulus package, too.” As we shall see, that is a big, fat lie.
Schultz’s guest, Reuters columnist David Cay Johnston confirmed: “And clearly, Obama has been incredibly tight-fisted as a president.”

On her show, Rachel Maddow proclaimed: “Factually speaking, spending has leveled off under President Obama. Spending is not skyrocketing under President Obama. Spending is flattening out under President Obama.”
In response, three writers from “The Daily Show” said, “We’ll never top that line,” and quit.
Inasmuch as this is obviously preposterous, I checked with John Lott, one of the nation’s premier economists and author of the magnificent new book with Grover Norquist: “Debacle: Obama’s War on Jobs and Growth and What We Can Do Now to Regain Our Future.” (I’m reviewing it soon, but you should start without me.)
It turns out Rex Nutting, author of the phony Marketwatch chart, attributes all spending during Obama’s entire first year, up to Oct. 1, to President Bush.
That’s not a joke.
That means, for example, the $825 billion stimulus bill, proposed, lobbied for, signed and spent by Obama, goes in … Bush’s column. (And if we attribute all of Bush’s spending for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and No Child Left Behind to William Howard Taft, Bush didn’t spend much either.)
Nutting’s “analysis” is so dishonest, even the New York Times has ignored it. He includes only the $140 billion of stimulus money spent after Oct. 1, 2009, as Obama’s spending. And he’s testy about that, grudgingly admitting that Obama “is responsible (along with the Congress) for about $140 billion in extra spending in the 2009 fiscal year from the stimulus bill.”
Nutting acts as if it’s the height of magnanimity to “attribute that $140 billion in stimulus to Obama and not to Bush. …”
On what possible theory would that be Bush’s spending? Hey – we just found out that Obamacare’s going to cost triple the estimate. Let’s blame it on Calvin Coolidge!
Nutting’s “and not to Bush” line is just a sleight of hand. He’s hoping you won’t notice that he said “$140 billion” and not “$825 billion,” and will be fooled into thinking that he’s counting the entire stimulus bill as Obama’s spending. (He fooled Ed Schultz!)
The theory is that a new president is stuck with the budget of his predecessor, so the entire 2009 fiscal year should be attributed to Bush.
But Obama didn’t come in and live with the budget Bush had approved. He immediately signed off on enormous spending programs that had been specifically rejected by Bush. This included a $410 billion spending bill Bush had refused to sign before he left office. Obama signed it on March 10, 2009. Bush had been chopping brush in Texas for two months at that point. Marketwatch’s Nutting says that’s Bush’s spending.
Obama also spent the second half of the Troubled Asset Relief Fund (TARP). These were discretionary funds meant to prevent a market meltdown after Lehman Brothers collapsed. By the end of 2008, it was clear the panic had passed, and Bush announced that he wouldn’t need to spend the second half of the TARP money.
But on Jan. 12, 2009, Obama asked Bush to release the remaining TARP funds for Obama to spend as soon as he took office. By Oct. 1, Obama had spent another $200 billion in TARP money. That, too, gets credited to Bush, according to the creative accounting of Rex Nutting.
There are other spending bills Obama signed in the first quarter of his presidency, bills that would be considered massive under any other president – such as the $40 billion child health care bill, which extended coverage to immigrants as well as millions of additional Americans. This, too, is called Bush’s spending.
Frustrated that he can’t shift all of Obama’s spending to Bush, Nutting also lowballs the spending estimates during the later Obama years. For example, although he claims to be using the White House’s numbers, the White House’s estimate for 2012 spending is $3.795 trillion. Nutting helpfully knocks that down to $3.63 trillion.
But all those errors pale in comparison to Nutting’s counting Obama’s nine-month spending binge as Bush’s spending.
If liberals will attribute Obama’s trillion-dollar stimulus bill to Bush, what won’t they do?
Go back to your numbers. You do not need a degree in accounting. You need only be smarter than any Texan village idiot. Crunch those numbers and you will see that the worst thing you can do for Federal financial balance is to start two wars simultaneously, all off the books of course. And then, to add insult to injury, take the budget surplus handed to you by the last fiscally responsible President and split it up and give it back to each taxpayer as if a universal bribe and, at the same time, give the largest tax cuts to the rich since the sad days of that Bonzo Movie Star.
Hopefully even you can see that the way to balance your budget, anyone's budget, is not by giving away your surplus, slashing your input and tripling your output. This was a CONSERVATIVE President?!? Sheer Stupid Folly.
And now we have new blood in the Office Oval and we have seen 23 months of straight job growth. Corporate profits are back and higher than before the crash. One of the wars was ended by the newcomer, saving us over a billion dollars a day (and more than that if it saved the life of but one more soldier).
In the end of the Bush years, the four he snagged from Chad's dangle and the four that the Supreme Court was paid to give him, even Bush and his economic advisers had to admit that they were terribly wrong. In the end, even they could see that rampant austerity was not the Way. They universally backed the stimulus.
Obviously it is working. Instead of acting in the austere, we should be reveling in the gentile. Most of the economic mind believe the stimulus was good but did not go far enough. Imagine where the economy would be if the stimulus had been double, imagine our increased tax revenue that would have been the windfall.
The 'Great Trickle Down Theory' turns out to be the rich and elite gifting us with a golden shower of a different sort. It is a relationship perfected. A 50/50 partnership with the American people. The rich get the gold mine, we get the shaft.
In the capitalist the common man will find no friend. For, to the capitalist, the common man is but a tool. The capitalist has no time, thought or love for a tool. A tool is to be used to create profit. It is used until it breaks or a better tool is found and then the tool is discarded for the new. The capitalist spares no time, compassion, love or even thought for a tool so discarded.
What is worse is the venture capitalist.
This is why the very makeup of the republican party is oxymoron-ic. They claim to be of a Christian faith (ie following the teachings and the Way of Christ) but have serious trouble walking the walk. They claim to love their fellow man, but if judged honestly by word, policy backed and deed fall far far far short of the teachings of the Christ they claim to love.

What a birth certificate says is exactly what the mother told them to write down at the time. My husband was not present when I gave the facts to the nurse at the birth of each of my 3 children born in the 60's. Before the child entered the world I reported that the father was "white" ...which he was. But, I could have told them he was Chinese and that is what they would have written down. I have a friend who is "Negro" on her birth certificate. Her brother...same mother and father...is officially an "Indian". This same woman's adopted daughter is "white"...except she is not...her African American"birth father" was not present so she was declared "white" like her birth mother. The way I see it...our President's problem is that he isn't white...not where he was born. Let's face it, Bush was a blithering idiot and was not persecuted like this.

Ed it is interesting to note that the gentleman from Iowa mentioned that Iowa republicans are disappointed that the President did not keep his 'promise' to get unemployment to 5%, which he did not promise, and yet Iowa right now has one of the nation's lowest unemployment rates of 5.5%.
With numbers like these, Obama will win Iowa regardless of the childish attempts at distraction that the Iowa republican party can come up with.
