On the Ed Show, the Nation's John Nichols talked about the failed Wisconsin recall.
This was an experiment in the laboratory of democracy for both sides that will help define where we go.
For Republicans... [it was] about big money and a powerful lesson for every state in this country. You can repurpose a failed governor as a credible candidate.
For labor unions and Democrats, there's a powerful lesson. They did not do a lot of education up front about what a recall is. Polling showed that people did not like the idea of doing a recall; nor did they do enough education on collective bargaining.
Adds Ed, "It's hard to do education when you're outgunned by $20 million."

Ed - stop the BS. Truth prevails - can't educate? I think you did educate and the voters of WI spoke. Accept and "move forward!"
So funny, the spin starts, voters didn't know (yeah the coverage of the protests, and the re-call just wasn't there?!?), they spent more money (Barrett couldn't raise money either). Take your licks and move-on, quit trying to say it's anything but what it is, a DEM/Union smack down.
Don't forget, it was organized labor that set the stage for workers rights - both union and non union. Just be careful what you wish for.
Nichols hairs is red due to the fact his brain has rusted....
You know you can make fun of people for a lot of reason, but their physical appearance. I'm sorry, that is just bad taste.
He's actually quite a nice looking man in person. Not everyone is telegenic.
Dude is a moron...
he backed the wrong horse again.
Dude works at the nation magazine which makes no money reallies on private donation's to stay afloat.
And has been nothing more than a leftwingnut propaganda outlet.
I don't recall the Liberals complaining about Obama's 2008 campaign receiving twice as much funds as McCain, which led to McCain's defeat. I don't recall the lunatic left complaining as Obama reached $1 Billion for his 2012 Presidential campaign; exceeding that of Mitt Romney. Oh, the horror as citizens contribute to a political campaign, which is their Freedom of Speech, to support one candidate over another. This is why MSNBC attempted to tear down our Constitution and Founding Fathers on Lawrence O'Donnell's show yesterday evening. Watching them eat sour grapes is enjoyable. More whine please!
Obama's 2008 campaign wasn't funded by a few billionaires like the post citizens united decision campaigns. McCain lost because Bush did such a horrible job, and some republicans couldn't even vote republican with Palin on the ticket.
Bush made such a mess republicans knew it would be better if a democrat won and then obstruct any chance of improvement.
Oh, you're talking about Billionaire George Soros and all the millions he paid into the Obama campaign and Presidency. Good for you! I'm impressed.

Who would rationally back Mitt Romney for President?
to read this article- sure makes you wonder
Who would back Romney? Only anyone that is pro-America, anti-socialist, and has at least 1/4 of their brain working. obama and the far left are and have been bad for America.
Lance certainly exposes just how ignorant republicans are. President Obama is moderate. "Obama care" was a republican supported idea until Obama proposed it. Tea party republicans have dragged the party so far to the right that they've become repulsive unAmerican regressive idiots. Their numb electorate just follows along.
@ Occupy Wacko
You are so right on the money!
Also don't forget the 69 or so individual entities that he personally funds, that also contributed to Obama's first run for President as well as this one.
poor Ed, how much longer will he have a place on msnbc, and where can he go?
Thanks to ED we have an opportunity to see both sides of America.....not just the one that is full of the selfish right wingers. If you think this was a win. Get back to me in a couple of years.
Can-0-schlitz can always go back to doing the Bison games..
That is what he dose best, after few drinks hit the air waves calling the play-by-play.
At least he will not be Bull$hiting the listeners...
