At a campaign stop earlier today in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mitt Romney criticized President Obama for "want[ing] to hire more government workers," including "more firemen, more policemen, [and] more teachers."
"Did he not get the message of Wisconsin?" Romney added. "The American people did. It's time for us to cut back on government and help the American people."
Steve Benen has a post at The Maddow Blog explaining why these comments are significant, and what they say about the difference between the two candidates:
I can't stress the importance of this enough, because it underscores so much of what the 2012 presidential campaign is all about. President Obama's American Jobs Act intended to protect or create 400,000 jobs for school teachers, police officers, and firefighters. A CNN poll taken at the time found that 75% of the public -- and 63% of self-identified Republicans -- endorsed this jobs proposal.
Romney isn't just against these jobs; he's bragging about his opposition, assuming this line is popular.

about the time i think I've heard it all, i realize i haven't. we don't need teachers, fire fighters, and police? is that what the republicans want? but it is a interesting idea, we would have kids that don't have a job, as there not educated, that will rob and burn peoples homes and businesses as there will not be any cops and firefighters. if every republican loves this idea then they will deserve what's coming there way. get your guns loaded and protect your self. Absolutely amazing! We have officially entered the 'twilight zone', a universe where more teachers and first responders are NOT needed in a country that is 35th in education; where annual climatic catastrophe is rampant and mass murder terrorism is no longer an international threat, but a domestic one. Not to mention that public service positions make (made) a middle class.
That cowboy Ron Reagan started this right wing wild west agenda 30 years ago - every man/women and child for themselves - survival of the fittest - and the legacy of George double-ya gave actual credibility to the Tea Party servin up the coolaid.

You have spoken the truth here...What you left out is the Civil War that is going to rage in the USA for years . The elite have their Gated castles and military security to protect them. The death toll is going to be huge and the elderly, disabled,children and the poor will be on the front lines to die.
The combat soldiers coming back from the 10 year war in the middle-east are angry..And will be getting even more angry as the VA makes them have to fight for months and years to get any medical help....The classification requirements are being rewritten to save the Government money as I write this post....
When people have nothing else to lose and no hope for anything tomorrow.
We need a take back America Campaign today....Or we will be slaves to the rich who will rule over us....We need to stop this now...Think about the biggest most important thing that the government and big business needs from the people....CONSUMERS AT ALL LEVELS FROM LOCAL TO FEDERAL...
