"I've been overwhelmed by the response, from women and men, and teenagers, thanking me for being a strong voice—and not just from my constituents, but people across the country," said Michigan House Rep. Lisa Brown, a Democrat, on Sunday. She was speaking of the controversy that erupted after she used the word 'vagina' on the House floor on Wednesday. "Finally, Mr. Speaker, I'm flattered that you're all so interested in my vagina, but no means no," Rep. Brown said. Brown was banned from speaking on the House floor as a result.
On Wednesday, the Michigan legislature approved new restrictions on abortion services, which led Brown to make her House speech. "There is a push by Right to Life to restrict those rights, and that was what this bill was about," said Rep. Brown, speaking on Melissa Harris-Perry. "It's really kind of a backdoor way of trying to really overturn Roe vs. Wade." Brown received 10,000 postcards from the around the state supporting Planned Parenthood and abortion rights, but the House speaker banned the cards.

Thank goodness someone wants to start vagina monologues. Although the lawmakers could go about this in another way. In other words, why do you want to look and probe? I Just want someone to biopsy my vagina and have now been turned down, refused a diagnoses by three different doctors. It is little wonder the number of women who die from Ovarian and Uterus Cancer are staggering. If we cannot get timely testing how in the world will we EVER expect to get treatment? It is bad enough studies on the female reproductive organs only began less than twenty years ago...but why are we being REFUSED the very tests which, if done early enough could save our very lives? Now I have growths not only on my ovaries but on my Kidney's and still the doctors refuse to biopsy to find out if they are malignant or beguine.

A tribute to Lisa Brown and ladyparts everywhere
If Lisa Brown's vagina is trump, then Roe vs. Wade will have to be overturned. Everything the Michigan legislation would do is directly out of Roe:
"These interests [of mother and the potential human life she carries] are separate and distinct. Each grows in substantiality as the woman approaches term and, at a point during pregnancy, each becomes “compelling.””
According to ROE, at some point prior to birth, the state has a COMPELLING interest in protecting the life of the unborn.
Regarding regulating abortion, Blackmun writes in Roe:
“The State has a legitimate interest in seeing to it that abortion, like any other medical procedure, is performed under circumstances that insure maximum safety for the patient. This interest obviously extends at least to the performing physician and his staff, to the facilities involved, to the availability of after-care, and to adequate provision for any complication or emergency that might arise.”
