House Republicans today voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress—just the fourth government official to be so charged since 1975—over his refusal to turn over documents in the Fast and Furious probe.
Everyone agrees the program was ill-conceived. But as Rachel Maddow explained Wednesday night, in conservative circles, it's seen as more than that: a deliberate effort to gin up gun violence, in order to build support for a coming crackdown on gun rights. That outlandish conspiracy theory was hatched last year by extremist blogger Mike Vanderboegh, then taken up by Republican lawmakers including Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa. Today, Issa is leading the effort to hold Holder in contempt.
Former New York Times columnist Bob Herbert told Maddow that the hysteria over this non-existent assault on gun rights is purely political. It's an effort, Herbert said, to "undermine the legitimacy of Barack Obama, Eric Holder and ultimately the Democratic Party," Herbert said.

The right doesn't tend to worry about facts and aren't big on the truth. In fact, many on the right really don't know the difference between fact and politifantasy. They really don't know and they really don't care. What they are big on is harassment. The GOP base doesn't much concern itself with facts, they do what they are good at, they harass other folks. They mostly just pretend to understand stuff. They are portraits in quasi reality overcompensation. They tend to live in quasi reality, and overcompensate for their lack of awareness and understanding. They also readily fall prey to hoodwinkers. It seems they're loud and proud and hoodwinked and unaware and they overcompensate...a lot, and they really are past caring about what makes sense or what is fair. They really don't care. My partner and I voted for Obama last time and we will this time but the truth is Obama and Holder are against the 2nd Amendment. The truth is often considered weird because it goes contrary to the propaganda. If you think someone is wrong
because what they are saying isn't "cool" then you need professional

Eric Holder testified under oath that he did not know about the gunrunner projects until after Brian Terry was murdered. Internal documents from the DOJ indicate otherwise.
The attorney general lies under oath and you are somehow attributing this as developing from a GOP conspiracy/irrational right-wing ideology?!
Brian Terry has been dead for more than a year and Eric Holder has not punished one single person. Here is his testimony about it:
"No I have not as yet -- as yet," Holder said when questioned by Issa on the matter. "There have been personnel changes made at ATF. We obviously have a new U.S. attorney in Arizona. We have made personnel switches at ATF. People have been moved out of positions."
For the record, Holder praised the individuals that he moved, at the time of the move, for the good work and competence they had shown. REALLY!?? Yes. Fact. Look it up.
Let's not forget the fact that the ATF also moved the whistleblowers into trivial jobs and did fire others who broke the story. So the higher-ups in the DOJ and BATFE walk while the people fighting for the justice of Brian Terry's family get demoted and/or fired.
Why doesn't MSNBC write about that?
