Just 34 percent of Americans correctly identify President Obama as a Christian, a new Gallup poll finds.
Forty-four percent of respondents said they didn't know Obama's religion, while 11 perent incorrectly said he's a Muslim.
As Gallup notes, Obama is a Christian. While living in Chicago, he attended the Trinity United Church of Christ, and in Washington he has attended several different Christian churches.
More Americans can correctly identify Mitt Romney's religion than Obama's—even though Obama has been President for three and a half years and many voters still have only a hazy view of Romney. A separate Gallup poll found that 57 percent of respondents correctly identified Romney as a Mormon.

The same 66% don't know he's an American.
I find that quite revealing as to both what people are listening to and what they are watching. It is very troubling to me.
We have a fine family man, a good Christian, and a great moral compass for a president and they don't accept it or want him to be president? They want a liar instead, with no experience in job creation or foreign affairs and one who will double down on Bush's failed policies. A man who is utterly ruthless and without compassion. ?????? Why???
He will bankrupt the country. Nothing less. I am absolutely certain of that. I know his record, and I know his type.
Seems that far too many Americans prefer to struggle in their everyday lives and are willing to ignore the reality that goes on around them. The fact that the President is an American and a Christian is so obviously clear that one can easily conclude that many of these same people are illiterate or can't listen to any bonified news. Guess that some thought needs to be spent on increasing civics, reading and comprehension in our schools. Over a few generations, maybe we'll have enough intelligence to rival a third world country - not that I have anything against any third world country.
