A Michigan Republican stepped down recently from his position on the Board of State Canvassers. And afterwards, he couldn't resist taking a parting shot at none other than Rachel Maddow.
Jeff Timmer resigned last week amid a controversy over a Michigan law that allows emergency managers of municipalities and school districts to overrule the decisions of elected officials—a story The Rachel Maddow Show has been tracking closely for months.
Though opponents of the law managed to collect enough petition signatures to get a repeal question on the November ballot, the petitions were blocked by Timmer and the other Republican on the Board, who claimed they couldn't be sure the font size conformed to the state's specifications.
Timmer resigned last week without explanation. Asked afterwards by a producer for The Rachel Maddow Show why he had stepped down, he replied, via email: "I just want to be liked by the tens of people watching your show."
Touché, sir!

Rachel's influence is starting to be felt far beyond her show. Those who would threaten democracy can ignore her at their peril.
Weeeeell maybe, but, Maddow has lost face. She lost a lot of Democrats in 2010 when she spent the year bashing the President. Her ratings have fallen considerably. Last week she admitted that she is not a Democrat, after she spent years masquerading as a disgruntled Dem. This statement will cost her more followers from the left. Maddow now has a well earned, distinct and pungent aroma of disingenuousness about her, and it won't wash off. She's a self satisfied, passive aggressive, corporate pundit and contrarian who knows no political allegiance. She's a basher who has lost face and respect and viewers. She blew it. Gobama 2012!
Rachel Maddow has not lost face with the dems, everyone gets bored with listening to politics,that's is why the ratings drop. Yes once in awhile she does makes a mistake. At least she admitt's to the error and corrects it. What makes Rachel's show worth watching is that she explains the topics without sugar coating it. She also gives the viewer something to think about.
Actually, I think Doctor Rachel's big political confession kind of clears the air. No longer will she be confused with an actual Democrat. She's also a dandy presenter. I am not kidding when I say Maddow's a good thespian. She is. And, she lost a lot of Dems. after 2010, after she went Benedict Arnold on the President. I also understand that she has ardent admirers, and is an iconic figure in the lgbt community. .
So, she's not a Democrat. Do you seriously think that means she's a Republican? I'm sure she's registered as an independent like I am in Massachusetts. But you can bet she votes Democratic, like I do. Why am I an independent? Two reasons, MA has open primaries and the Democrats are afraid to embrace the liberal wing. And if anyone stopped watching her because they think holding Obama accountable for his words in 2010 was bashing, than you're no better at perception than the radical right. Rachel is a once-in-a-lifetime talent and we're lucky to have her on our side.
Doctor Maddow is a good thespian and news amalgamator and dramatist and excitationalist and her facial gestures are exagerrationally animated. She has a schtick and that's it. Maybe she's a Kucinich sort of gal, but then again Kucinich is a Dem and Maddow isn't. Nobody said you can't adore her. I usta' adore her too, until she spent 2010 pooping on the President and kicking him around for sport. I still like her presentational exaggerativeness..but I, and a lot of other Dems. will not trust her again. That boat has sailed.... Gobama!
I don't understand how you American people voted the Republicans into statewide office and now allow them to stop people from voting. After the rich people take everything you have...your medicare,your social security,etc. all you will have is the vote..but not for long. In Canada tampering with Medicare would get the government banished from public trough feeding for a minimum of a decade. America you are running out of time to wake up...
