Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by Mitt Romney, invested in a medical waste firm called Stericycle that was involved in disposing of aborted fetuses, according to a report today by Mother Jones. And documents from the time described Romney as an active participant in the deal.
Bain's involvement with the Stericycle was first reported earlier this year by the Huffington Post. At the time, the Romney campaign deflected the story by claiming that the candidate had left Bain in February 1999 before the deal went down.
But the S.E.C. documents unearthed by Mother Jones's David Corn raise questions about that explanation. They date from November 1999, and say Romney "may be deemed to share voting and dispositive power with respect to" the shares in Stericycle. As Corn wrote, the documents suggest "Romney still played a role in Bain investments until at least the end of 1999."
As Corn noted on The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell Monday, the report's implications go beyond the Stericycle issue. That's because on several occasions, Romney has claimed he has no responsibility for actions taken by Bain after he left the company, giving that February 1999 date as his date of departure. So the documents raise questions about just when Romney stopped playing an active role in Bain's decisions.
"Time and time, again stories come up about Bain deals ... and the campaign or Bain's response is that Romney had left the company at that point in time, thereby trying to absolve them of deals that would look bad for a political candidate," Corn told O'Donnell. "So there's a whole little wishy-washy mystery here as to what Romney was doing at Bain after he supposedly left."
Of course, as O'Donnell noted, much of this could be resolved if Romney would just release his full tax returns—something he's so far declined to do.
O'Donnell also played assignment editor, raising another interesting avenue for inquiry. "Can you find out how much Stericycle is making from Romneycare in Massachussetts?" he asked Corn.
Could be worth looking into...

Why don't liberals just admit that they are a bunch of communists who hate capitalism.
You refuse to accept your "communist" unemployment and social security retirement benefits?
Yay. More for the rest of us!!
There is nothing wrong with money, profits or success Robert.
What we LIBERALS object to is Robber Barons and Criminal Politicians getting their money by defrauding Americans of their income and tax dollars.
We object to Vulture Capitalists creating their profits from destroying the jobs, lives and businesses of other Americans.
We object to success in the Capitalistic system that is built on sending jobs and profits overseas despite of the economic terrorism that these actions bring down on other Americans !
This does NOT make us Communists !! It makes us Conscientious !!
Learn the difference. You may actually get some respect for your opinions IF you can do that.
x
Because it's not the truth about being liberal. Some ideas are better than others. Not all capitalism benefits society. We outlaw some capitalistic ideas.
Why do you marginalize civilized behavior?
Robert Whittle belongs on Kolob.
RW, yer'a'goof.
Why??? It's pretty simple, really. Because that would be re-stating a lie that was created, and is continually perpetuated and propagated by some on the right. Et tu, Robert Whittle?
But by all means, if you have undeniable proof of your assertion, something much, much more substantial than your opinion, as expressed in your post, why don't you trot it out for all to see?
Romney lies so bad that cartoons are going to start showing him with a 50 pound Pinocchio nose.
Mormon Bishop.
More like Mormon heretic.
Maybe us liberals should be happy that Romney will be nominated by the Republicans because more of his lies will come out. Of all those that debated for the nomination he is worst one. He can be attacked better than the others who tried to get nominated. I hope the Republicans do not change their mind and nominate someone else who has a chance of winning. He did not disclaim that he does not believe as the Mormons due that the DEAD CAN BE BAPTiZED and GO TO HEAVEN. They baptized Hitler and Staline so that they could go to heaven. Romney lost to McCain and McCain lost to Obama. How can Romney even come close to winning in the next election. The media, if they do their job, will pin down his lies.
Surprise. Mitt´s own cousin is now an ex-Mormon High Priest. Park B. Romney has written a fine book about all this. We hope it will be in the NewsCycle: a bestseller.
Check out at Park Romneys website: parkromney.com
There is no disclaimer for Romney to make a profit this way OR doing biz in China. Just come out with your hands up, Mitt.
More than a liar, Romney hates the poor and those in need. His eyes tell more than what he says. Lood at his eyes when you see him speaking.
The reason we so-called liberals don't admit to being communists, en mass, may well be because it simply isn't true. I, for one, am a card-carrying democrat, and not a communist, nor a socialists, for that matter. Not even close. I am a 67 year-old, retired aerospace and defense exec, turned real estate investor, who happens to be both a veteran and a proud African-American, who also considers himself to be what I call an "enlightened capitalist". You see, the problem with American capitalism is not capitalism, it self, but capitalists. Our history, over the past 150 years, proves that when unfettered capital reigns supreme-as made evident by the current gross disparity between earnings among the 1% vs the rest of the economy-the middle-class pays a terrible price. Organic and uncontrolled capitalism-manifest greed left to it's own devices-is parasitic, and will eventually devour itself, from within and of it's own volition. This is why thoughtful and vigilant government, serving as counterweight is and has always been needed to protect middle-America from those who would take, and take, again, while leaving nothing in return. The idea that the purpose of business is to create jobs and, thereby, further the aims of a free and vibrant economy is pure myth. The purpose of business is to generate profit for its stakeholders, not paychecks for employees. Jobs equate to cost and costs detract from the "bottom-line". Employees and the costs associated with them, are necessary evils to be hired only as a last resort. And those capitalists among us-along with the politicians they have bought and paid for-who would have working-class Americans believe these truths to be somehow different than they are-and have always been-are lying.
...in short, Robert Whittle is a brain-dead Murdoch-fed horse's ass.
xxxooo
A turnaround multinational company that Bain invests in and is restructured to grow and expand and add jobs both in domestic and international operations is said to be "off shoring American jobs" by the Romney haters. And now that Romney hater David Corn turns up documents from nine months after Romney left Bain Capital to take on the task of saving the Winter Olympics (which he had previously received wide praise for), and he wants to make some kind of scandal out of that nonsense?
How about the subjects of the Obama administration and the Dems that designed the monstrosity of Obamacare attempting to make the Catholic Church provide free Plan B Abortion causing prescription drugs to employees or students in their educational and medical institutions for something scandalous to write about! Or their war against black and hispanic fetuses promoting and supporting abortion mills like Planned Parenthood in our nations major cities? How about looking a little into those subjects David Corn, and MSNBC!
Could not have had all those abortion mills without Bain Capital. Also the Church is free to rape little boys anytime they want to nobody anywhere has made them do anything they do not want to, including the raping of little boys, just like their friend Sandusky, only difference is Sandusky finally got caught and punished, the Priests just simply got to move and rape more new boys. So I am not sure why your panties are in a bunch. Since 45,000 American people die every year from no health coverage, I can only assume your pro life stance mean those deaths are a shame, but going by your statement, those 45,000 deaths are justified so that the health insurance companies can make more profit.
Keith...
The reports in question came from the SEC, Corn just found them and reported on them. It's the reports themselves that call into question exactly when Mitt was no longer in a position with Bain to influence any company direction.
You evidently failed to assimilate that fact, didn't you?
Grandpa doesn't know anything more about reproductive biology and contraception than he does about the English syntax he abuses here regularly and yet still maintains he had the expertise to have taught it to young and malleable minds.
Plan B birth control is not "abortion," period. Here you go...
http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/features/plan-b-11-questions-11-answers
9. How does Plan B work?
Plan B works like other birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. Plan B acts primarily by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary. It may prevent a sperm from fertilizing the egg.
If fertilization does occur, Plan B may prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb. If a fertilized egg is implanted prior to taking Plan B, Plan B will not work and pregnancy proceeds normally.
Preventing a fertilized egg from attaching itself to the uterus is how IUD birth controls function, incidentally...
And nobody is labeling IUD's as "abortion devices." And funny, while the Talking Oinks® crowd is hollering about "fertilized eggs," none of them are saying anything about all the ovum that are "wasted" with in vitro fertilization techniques...
I'd fact check this stuff with my sister, the Ob-Gyn MD, Grandpa, but she keeps e-mailing me replies chastising me for arguing with know-nothings.
but she keeps e-mailing me replies chastising me for arguing with know-nothings.--- BUT you work with the American public thus meaning you deal with know-nothings all work shift long. It is good to know your consumer.
Yup, Pete and RePeat! You can split the pubic hairs, here Cab Driver and your Robin echoing you childisly, but I'm not buying your definition of Plan B. It is not preventative birthcontrol, it is "post conception" birth control. So you do your ethical spin and dance as you see fit, and I'll stand firmly on my foundation and watch and laugh at you. LOL!
As to Eye's Wide Open, the reports at the SEC are what they are, the insinuations and flimsy deductions imparted to them by David Corn and repeated here by MSNBC are myths.
Then, Keith, you favor banning Romney from any office? Romney had a company that disposed of not needed medical parts, or as you call it a killing factory, unless you are saying that you simply choose to look at things with political glasses on, you are saying Romney should be put to death for killing babies.
Really, Keith...documents that are 13 years old (about 4 years before Romney even became governor of MA) have been laying around, just waiting for somebody to unearth them with the sole intention to cast Mitt in yet another bad light? Really???
Well then, why don't you just saddle up some verifiable proof of what you say about these so-called myths and share it with the rest of us? When (and if) you do, then (and only then), maybe somebody other than that image that stares back at you in the mirror will believe you. So far, all I see is your opinion of the situation, based on...what? Some super-secret insider knowledge that you and only you have? Sounds more like you're employing an easily recognizable right-wing conservative trait...if you don't have proof of what you say, and you don't like the message, then attack the messenger in an attempt to roil the issue.
For you, it ain't workin' and your attempt at deflecting the subject of this thread in #8 is duly noted.
Man, Grandpa does have the potty mouth when he gets into the Nyquil... That "pubic hair" reference was reminiscent of what Anita Hill claimed Clarence Thomas said...
Read the definition of "conception" Fuzzy... Even if the ovum is fertilized (which Plan B generally prevents), if it doesn't implant in the uterine wall (see endometriosis), then a women is not pregnant. You mean "post-intercourse" birth control... Would you include "acidic vaginal douches"--which accomplish the same effect, albeit less efficiently in that categorization?
Grandpa perfectly fits the definition of a "prude" I once read... That's the notion that somehow, somewhere, someone is having a good time. You're a gaslighting crazy-maker, Fuzzie. If someone uses birth control, they're a slut, and if they don't but then want to avoid the consequences, they're committing murder... And of course they're a slut as well. Got some women-hating issues, eh?
Of course, judging from your post bragging about how hard you were working back when you should have been paying attention in school, your ignorance is understandable.
Slut? for using birth control? Not the words I would choose to use, Cab Driver.
I meant post conception. Not post pregnancy, not post coitus, not posting on the mast or any other posting you want to post about. Plan B aborts the fertilized egg, it is the reason it is prescribed. Use an diaphragm and a condom, and you have no need for it. They are cheap enought to use, and readily available. They were available and cheap when I and my wife wanted to space our first and second child, and served us well after the second child as we wished to stop there until the wife decided on an IUD device instead.
Typical teabagger: "I am glad I had a choice in determining my family, but will fight every single day to make sure others do not have that same choice" -- OR -- "I agree with Roberts on the ACA 100% IT IS A TAX!!!!!!!, I just diagree with Roberts for his ACA 100% ruling"
Why exactly does it matter what month in 1999 he stopped dealing with the company?
Elitist: A follower of the golden rule, "He who has the gold, makes the rules"
Communist: The opposite of an elitist.
Keith Longey: "Obamacare attempting to make the Catholic Church provide free Plan B Abortion causing prescription drugs to employees or students in their educational and medical institutions for something scandalous to write about! Or their war against black and hispanic fetuses promoting and supporting abortion mills like Planned Parenthood in our nations major cities? How about looking a little into those subjects David Corn, and MSNBC!"
Maybe you should look a little more into those subjects as well, seeing as you clearly know NOTHING about them. Instead of watching Fox News and repeating everything Lila Rose tells you about Planned Parenthood, try thinking for yourself and doing your own research.
1) Plan B does not cause abortions. That is a lie that I'm sure you love to share with everyone who will listen.
2) There is no "war against black and hispanic fetuses". The Republicans have been perpetuating this lie in order to divide the Democrats among racial lines, plain and simple. They tried to do the same thing with gay marriage and they are continuing to do it with the other hot button issue of abortion. Hmm...who's the racist now, then?
Look into these subjects YOURSELF, Keith, before you spew lies of your own.
I've looked into those issues, and 1) Plan B causes the abortion of the conceived egg by blocking its ability to embed in the uterous wall and 2) the statistics Planned Parenthood must maintain to remain licensed as a clinic to perform 1st trimester abortions tell the story, not "Fox New" fool! 3) I didn't realize Plan B or Abortions were an issue for "Gays", anyonebut; maybe you could educate me on that position?
Romney's a con man. End of story. He's a cold blooded, mercurial, calculating shark masquerading as a human being. He is the walking, talking personification of a con man.
We could keep listing the bad qualities of Romney that are directed toward other, but in reality are an indication of his inner self. His inner self is his unquestionably his worse enemy and it can be named, labeled and describe by what Shakespear wrote. He had Cassius speak the wrods: "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings." Romney is his worst enemy because he will never be able to realize why poor people need help and why those in need should be assisted. It is his nature. Period. Blinded to those without health insurance. Not much different from the French Revolution when the wealthy did not care about the general population. Your comments are worth repeting: "Romney's a con man. End of story. He's a cold blooded, mercurial, calculating shark masquerading as a human being. He is the walking, talking personification of a con man." This is true because it is inbeded in his nature. It would be a disaster if elected. Everyone has been given the key of self-interest. It can open the gates to heaven or the gates to hell. Some use it for what is right and others use it do do evil. What is interesting that more religious people use it for evil and those who are not religious use it for good.
Bain is the story of Romney and what seems anomalous is the Massachusetts' Healthcare Act, which Hippocratus is now attempting to undo on the national level, apparently for reasons of political expediency ... and self interest. Mr. Romney's religious garments are falling from his limbs and lie in riven tatters at his feet. for all with uncompromised sight to view. The essence of Romney is becoming unwoven and we see there is no core there, only air. A vacuum exists in place of soul....and I'm not talking Hoover, y'know, or Bissell. ha He is an uber wealthy ghost with a big family and an empty chest which he metaphorically thumps as he exagerrationally gestures with his arms. to overcompensate for his physical rigidity. He's a con man.
Thanks for your reply.
Will Romney represent, defend, protect and lead America forward?
Or, will Romney and his wealthy (unidentified) 'Special Interests Friends, both Domestic and Foreign', 'off shore' the moral and financial bankruptcy of America with his 'Business Morality'?
America's pillage and plunder story: THE ROMNEY TRACK RECORD on Middle Class America
Romney/Bain and Vulture Capitalist 'Special Friends BOTH Domestic and Foreign'… buys cos, gets US gov grant $s still unpaid, outsources American jobs overseas, crushed workers' unions who helped build these companies, then striped and sold land/buildings/equipment and assets, 'defunded' the workers' earned 401K retirement funds, then, OOPS-declares Bankruptcy!, AND then off shores his Billions with his wealthy Foreign Friends.
Who really is ROMNEY?
Can you really trust Romney and his wealthy 'Special Interest Friends, both Domestic and Foreign', with your family, your community OR America's future?
Can you really trust the truth of Romney's words on any given day OR the 'ROMNEY' truth on his track record in America?
Romney is NOT a candidate who has loved, defended or truly been 'vested' or 'invested' in America, only his personal wealth has driven his 'American' morality.
Romney has never EARNED OR QUALIFIED for the privileged TRUST to be America's Leader OR America's Commander in Chief OR America's Statesman.
Romney AND his 'Special Interest Friends, both Domestic and Foreign', will not BUY our VOTE or be allowed to outsource and offshore America's Future!
rummy seems to incapable of coming clean with his relationship with Bain--this subject is not going to go away. rummy is the king of using the etch-a-sketch, avoiding the press (and thus questions), enjoys firing people, doesn't care about the poor, thinks ryan's "pathway to destruction" is marvelous, is not comfortable mingling with us ordinary folks, etc. furthermore, rummy prefers carpet bombing his opponent, refuses to disclose his plan (we should just trust him--he's kidding I hope). rummy must be a very unhappy person since all he can do is criticize and doesn't seem to have anything good to say about anyone. rummy feels he is entitled to the presidency and will spend any amount to purchase an election. rummy fails to demonstrate real leadership. rummy only worships his money gods.
Al Capone cared more about poor people than Romney. Capone started the soup kitchen. In an election between Capone and Romney, I would vote for Capone. The money being spent on ads against Obama are nothng but a bribe. One polititian, I will not give the name, learned a lesson from the Mafia, "You can get almost enything done by bribing people". Some political ads are only bribes.
What a cabal of ignorant haters we have here on this blog!
You don't lead lifes that could hold a candle to Mitt Romney, and you think you have any reliable knowledge to make the accusations you are making as to his character, his intelligence, his business and family life, and his religious beliefs? You can't shine this man's shoes, but you run your stupid mouths with your vile insults, and think you are conducting yourselves rationally on a political blog? Why not trying listending and reading his positions, and then arguing with them cogently, if you are able to. If you can't do that, you should just keep your insulting slurs and bigotry to your stupid little minded selves!
BUT Keith you CAN hold a candle to Barack Obama? You have the reliable knowledge to make accusations about his character? His intelligence? His business, family, and religious beliefs? The difference is Obama would be willing to let people like you shine his shoes, Mitt would never let such a person like yourself anywhere near his shoes. Do you think you conduct yourself rationally, Keith? Also if this is not a teabagger statement there is no such thing, from Keith "If you can't do that, you should just keep your insulting slurs and bigotry to your stupid little minded selves!" -- Are you saying people who use insults are little minded?
Wow Keith...from your childish retort, it appears this arena has more sizzle than you can handle.
Just exactly which version of Mitt's "positions" should we be listening to, Keith? The ones where he was for something before he was against it, or the ones he was against something before he was for it?
Romney is his own worst enemy...his long historical trail of faux-pas statements only serves to acknowledge that.
I'm beginning to wonder if "Keith Longey" is just a pen name Ann Romney uses to blog with. Or it could be Tagg, Matt, Josh, Ben or Craig, I suppose.
As for shining his shoes, personally, I'll leave that to the little boot-lickers of the right-wing. Hmmm...are you being vetted for that job? If not, the Romney camp might be missing a real whiner...er, winner, yeah...a real winner.
My comments seem to have hit their mark. Romney is producing position papers, but nobody mentions them! It all about the attack adds by Obama campaign and the MSNBC usual cast of political hacks 24-7 on this blog site, and you fools suck up that poisioness pap and regurgitate it here regularly and think you are making political statements of worth. You are ignorant.
Show me one thing derogatory I posted on Obama's character other than calling him a politician, show me anything derogatory I posted on Obama's religious beliefs, his family, and certainly not his business, as Obama had none. As to his intelligence, his actions to date seems to make the case against that....he is leading the effort to spend this country into bankruptcy for no good reason, and destroy the possibility at our door due to new tchnologies in drilling for and producing oil and natural gas for energy self sufficiency while he pursues the great inefficient and expensive wind and solar....and oh yes, candles. We need more candles to light our homes and businesses by!
Again, Keith, nothing but your opinions, blather and right-side talking points that have been making the circuit for months, if not longer. The only mark you have hit is the one that shows you have nothing new to offer or have anything verifiable to back up your allegations. You toss in a strawman here and there to deflect (the "show me..." statements above). If you think the amount of blow-back you've received on this blog is because of anything original or earth-shattering that you've said, you're truly delusional. If you think you have somehow "scored", well, I think you're right about that, but not in a way most people would be prone to brag about.
Mitt continues to display serious problems in defining his policies to the rank-and-file American voter. He talks in vague generalities, often only stating the antithesis of whatever the views of the other political party are on a topic, and that's only if he gets more than toes deep into a response. However, if one is select enough to attend his "large-money-donors only" parties, such as the recent one in Deer Valley, UT, you are probably going to get more specific ideas of his proposals.
Interesting observation. Where are they? Nobody mentions them because he hasn't published any for general consumption. With his track record of walking back over previously held positions, how can anyone really consider that whatever he says today will truly be his direction tomorrow?
Something for you to ponder: If you think back to all those laughably entertaining debates during the GOP primaries, it wasn't the liberal/Democrat/independent groups who brought up the question of Romney's religion...it was his challengers, and more specifically those who speak for the evangelical sect of the GOP. Miss that, did you?
His preference of only speaking to his selected audiences in the media is coming to an end...he won't be able to control that selection much longer as he has miles to go to make up for the self-inflicted perception of himself that plays out daily. Will he gain any ground? Possibly, but after the last year or so, the question that probably keeps him up at night is: Will it be enough?
He's your boy, and as far as I'm concerned, you are very welcome to him.
Other than engaging in the very tactics you accuse others of, you've still offered up nothing that supports your SEC "myths" allegation...but I can't say that's much of a surprise. I wasn't expecting that you would...or could.
"Hope" "Change" "I'll Drain the Swamp" "We are the people we were waiting for" "Tax the Rich" "Pay your 'Fair' Share" "Spread the Wealth". Howas that for empty generalities.
Read Romney's Position Papers? An empty generality?
I didn't say anthing about SEC myths. The myths are the baseless insinuations made by people like David Corn and Al Sharpton, and Little Larry O'Donnell on Romney's Character and Business dealings. Romney's Blind Trust (in place since he was Governor of Massachusetts) holds a significant financial investment interest in the private equity company he served as founder and CEO until Feb, 1999. That's hardly onerous, as so do a lot of Union Pension Funds, University, College, and Medical Intitution Endowments, and State and Municipal Pension Funds also, as Bain remains one of the most respected and successful of the private equity firms. A whole bevy of Democrat Party and Obama supporters have said as much, and disagrred with the Axelrod led Chicago hit men's tactic of attacking Romney's credibility on Bain ties, but some arseholes like youself continue to believe you can make hey with that baseless, discredited tactic, Eyes Wide Opem. So Blow It Out Your Brown-Eye, Fool!
Keep bragging about Bain, it helps get the word out.
From #16.5:
From #8.5:
And you know this for an irrefutable fact exactly...how, Keith? Mitt call you personally? Statements taken directly from an SEC report are somehow (magically) transformed into "myths" just to knock down your boy and get under your skin? Did that pink unicorn come visit you lately? He doesn't need any help to walk in circles, he seems to come by it quite naturally.
You've YET to produce any semblance of proof to support your "theory". It would appear that your memory, Keith, is just about on par with the validity of your arguments, and that would be weak...very weak. And when called out for it, all you can do is start ranting and engage in what is, no doubt, probably one of the very few things you excel at...name calling.
I don't think anyone will EVER have any trouble discerning which side of aisle you come from...you've proved that beyond any reasonable doubt whenever you throw a little hissy fit tantrum, like you've done here a couple of times.
You remind me of the San Diego fireworks debacle last night...
There was NO SEC REPORT. There is simply records of the company in question and its investors at the SEC, which 9 months after Romney left Bain in Feb, 1999 invested in the company in question. Where is the smoking gun on that issue, I ask you again, Brown Eye Wide Open? That's a charade!
You're trying to weasel out with your own version of the semantics of the wording. Records, taken individually or collectively, can actually constitute a "report". But for you, I guess it has to have the word "report" in the heading. Nawww...
Have you had this problem with reading for comprehension for a long time? Seems to be the case. If you read the article very s-l-o-w-l-y, even you just might possibly understand what they're saying. Read it as many times as it may take...for you, there's no rush.
Say...hows' the vetting for Mitt's shoe position working out for you? The way you've been flapping your tongue, I think you're a "shoe-in" for the job.
BTW...you're still not very good at deflection.
Mitt let a common person touch his shoes? HA!
Surely not a common person like you, Jason. You'd be likely to get one of those shoes up your arse, I would say.
Brown Eye Open: I realize that you are an economic and financial illitterate, but as an owner of numerous Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds I could be said to share "voting and depositive power" regarding shares in public or private companies the fund invests in. Romney left active management of Bain Capital in Feb 1999, but maintained funds invested in the private equity firm, right along with a whole handful of other individuals and organizations, like union and state and municipal employees pension funds, college/univesity and medical institution endowments. Romney was a passive investor...especially twice removed when his investments and his wife's investments were placed into Blind Trusts from the time he first ran for public office.
The ultra liberal Huffington Post and David Corn's Mother Jones who have brought this forth as some kind of bizzare insinuation on Romney's character have the usual liberal hardon for Romney's Presidenial Cmpaign, as does MSNBC that reports such nonsense daily. It's all nothing other than bad gas...but I'm sure you recognize enough of that yourself, Brown Eye Open!.
hahahaha up my ass, you have some sort of ass fetish?
Again with the innuendo. So...you own some mutual funds, which probably makes you one of thousands, thereby diluting the strength of your vote on anything that fund or funds may chose to do. That alone doesn't make you a financial whiz...a whiz of another kind perhaps, but not necessarily financial.
You still haven't provided any shred of proof to back up your claim about when Romney left "active management of Bain"...I'm sure if you had some, you'd have offered it by now. But...no.
As for your tepid support of what you said about them not being SEC reports, I'd just like to drop part of a quote on you from earlier in this blog. Ready? Watch for the light...
Hmmm..."the reports at the SEC". To a rational mind, that makes them (ta-da!) "SEC reports". Can you imagine that? No...of course you can't.
Now, would you like to guess who made that prophetic statement? As you have a hard time putting pieces together, here's a hint: post #8.5. But feel free to try and flip-flop on it.
I think Jason may have a valid point...you seem quite "liberal" with the terms "hardon" and "arse". Given their source, it becomes easily understood.
Deflection (among just about everything else I've seen from you) really isn't your strong suit, is it? But if I did truly have a "brown eye open", as you like to infer, then you should be aware that more than likely, it would spew out something strongly akin to little Keith Longley's.
"Bad gas"? I'll just bet you're an expert on that subject too.
You are a real wit, but I'm having some trouble placing your type. Would you be "dim", "half", "nit", or "-less"? I find it hard to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
?
Keith- question; do you read responses to your comments and really THINK about what people are saying? What goes thru your mind when Willard is caught lieing-about things he doesn't even need to lie about? So much of his past behavior, and I won't go into all the weirdness, doesn't make you stop and question this man's integrity?
You'd rather trust Obama? Who became a millionaire wrighting fictionalized accounts of his roots, his childhood, his college years and ponied that into a political career never dirtying his hands with honest real work, then be my guest, Jaquie. I don't have a very high opinion of the intelligence of the posters, or their ability to think independently from the Obama ass kissers in the media that do reply to my offerings, as you can plainly see. I'm here to educate, not to be indoctrunated by fools.
When does class start?
I am waiting to hear something from you that is educational
Jason...
Don't hold your breath, Jason...Keith isn't privy to that capability. He always seems to be woefully short of factual evidence to support his allegations. You'll notice that he totally dodged Jacquie's question...nothing at all about Mitt in his response to her post, so one could rightfully surmise that he couldn't rebut anything she said.
"Wrighting"???
Was t here something specific in that poster's question of me re: Mitt Romney's character to respond to? NO! Therefore that hurled bag of @!$%# got what was due, a simple ignoring of the poster's desire to pick a fight over nothing!
Yes there was Keith, but as you've repeatedly shown, you don't have the mental faculties to discern them.
Who knew?
"Given the precedent set by past seven Presidents and Presidential candidates of releasing multi-year tax returns why is Romney making an exception?" Because he has a lot to hide, apparently.
He's the only one that knows what's in there, and apparently he's made the judgement that he's better off having us suspect the worst, rather than us knowing whats in there, which apparently in his mind is worse than anything we're likely to imagine.
Possibilities include:
(1) He ended up with 120 million in his 401K by the trick of agreeing with Bain to grossly undervalue the market value of his stock, then a few years later have the stock get unvalued to the stratosphere.
(2) He participated in the tax avoidance amnesty program of a few years back, avoiding major tax penalties or prosecution.
(3) Any one or more of the other borderline legal but very bad smelling tax dodges-- "in-kind" trades, "no-risk" trades, no-risk write-offs, the list is almost endless.
And BTW he HASNT even released all of his 2010 return, he very conveniently left off the foreign investments and deposits form. Very convenient.
And his argument that it would be "bothersome" to collect the tax data is a crock too-- he supposedly collected 23 years of the stuff to show to McCain in 2008.

Republicans betrayed their own conscience when they went against established Republican principles like the MANDATE over healthcare which was a Heritage foundation issue popularized by Gingrich.
Obama did more than his share to UNITE but the Republicans were out to oppose for opposing sake and not following any policy or principles. In the famous words of Minority Senate Leader Mitch McConnell the Republicans were out to defeat the Obama agenda even if it went against established Republican policies set by past precedent.
Mitch McConnell was out to make sure that President Obama remains a one term President and see where it has brought the Congress and its public esteem.
Gingrich out of his own admission was out to defeat Obama from the day he was sworn in as President.
You can not justify the Republicans as the "loyal" opposition as is the case in most mature democracies. They have been out to get President Obama by hook or by crook. A leader can meet the opposition half way but can not fold completely to their whims and fantasies like that of the current Tea Party affiliates.
Republicans will loose in 2012 just like they did in 2008 but with a smaller margin because of the dark money of Billionaires due to Citizens United verdict of the right wing Supreme Court.

" ... Mitt Romney senior adviser Ed Gillespie said Sunday on CNN’s "State of the Union" the GOP candidate “retroactively” retired from Bain Capital after the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics began. ... "
No body who has been drawing at LEAST $100,000.00 per year from 1999 to 2002 from Bain Capital “retroactively” retires from Bain Capital AFTER the 2002!!! Then why draw the salary of at LEAST $100,000.00 per year from 1999 to 2002 from Bain Capital if Romney retired from Bain “retroactively” !!!
" ... Gillespie continued, "He took a leave of absence and, in fact, Candy, he ended up not going back at all and retired retroactively to February of 1999 as a result." ... "
However SEC documents show Mitt Romney as sole owner of all shares of Bain Capital. Romney is also shown as CEO, President and Chairman of Board of Bain Capital in 2001 and 2002 then LEGALLY speaking Mitt Romney has been responsible to all that goes on under the banner of Bain Capital. Then to run for Governor of MA Romney sought residency of MA by lieu of his Bain positions. Now either Romney was at the Olympics OR he was at BAIN.
Only one can be true not BOTH at the same time simultaneously!!! Will the true Willard Mitt Romney stand up and accept ONE thing? Does Romney want to accept untrue SEC filings and be called a Felon or agree that he represented Bain from 1999 to 2002?

On Friday the 13th (7/13/2012) the very illusive Mitt Romney gave very defensive interviews to all FIVE networks on a single day at once!! Just a few days ago Mitt Romney said to FOX News that explaining means that you are WEAK. So his five interviews "explaining" his time at Bain were signs of his weakness!!
Presidential Candidate Mr. Mitt Romney maybe feeling the heat on his role in BAIN Capital, his business experience which was supposed to be his sole criteria for creating jobs and his greatest qualification for running for the American Presidency in the current economy in 2012!
However SEC documents show Mitt Romney as sole owner of all shares of Bain Capital. Romney is shown as CEO, President and Chairman of Board of Bain Capital in 2001 and 2002 then LEGALLY speaking Mitt Romney has been responsible to all that goes on under the banner of Bain Capital.
Mitt Romney can not just share the good like job creation from 1999 to 2002 and leave the ugly like Bankruptcies and layoffs behind as if he had nothing to do about them from 1999 to 2002.
If he really wanted to disassociate himself from Bain Capital he could have resigned and sold all his shares in Bain Capital in February 1999 then it would have been a different matter but to share in the glory of Bain's job creation accept a salary of $100,000 or MORE (where are the Tax Returns?) for three years and only to refuse to take the responsibility of Bankruptcies and layoffs on his WATCH (1999-2002) is trying to have it both ways and then complaining of playing politics having been caught with his hand in the proverbial Cookie Jar that is the very essence of an ACTIVE LEGAL ROLE in Bain Capital till 2002!! Was Romney getting $100,000.00 or more to do NOTHING for BAIN Capital???
Mitt Romney will have to face the consequences of this leaving Bain "lie" that Mitt Romney has brought on upon himself. If we keep reminding the Romney campaign of the Bain exit lie and Romney's ill effects on workers robbing them of their hard earned salaries and life long benefits all the way to November then 7/13/2012 (FRIDAY the 13th) will go down as the turning point of the 2012 Presidential election!
