On Friday’s TRMS, Rachel Maddow spoke to someone with unique insight into Mitt Romney’s claims that he had no involvement with Bain Capital after February 1999.
Romney first tried to establish that he’d left Bain in 1999 when he was running for governor in 2002 against Democrat Shannon O’Brien. Her campaign featured a Kansas City steel worker who was laid off when the mill went bankrupt in 2001, after Bain Capital raked in substantial profits from investing in the company. Romney responded that he had nothing to do with the layoffs because he didn't work at Bain during the period at issue.
As Boston Globe reported at the time: “Romney has taken responsibility for making the initial investment but has said he could not be blamed for management decisions at the company."
These days, of course, Romney is making the same claim, even though documents and testimony from as late as 2002 list him as Bain's CEO. Maddow showed footage from O’Brien’s 2002 debate with Romney and asked the former member of the Massachusetts House and Senate how she feels now that Romney's Bain inconsistencies have resurfaced.
“As the first person to press Mitt Romney about what really happened at Bain Capital when he was responsible for Bain Capital’s actions, are you surprised to see it coming up again now? Is this the same basic issue you were confronting him with 10 years ago?” Maddow asked O’Brien.
“It’s the same basic issue. He criticized me very deeply... for having questioned his truthfulness. And it has taken 10 years to figure out that actually maybe he wasn’t telling the truth," O'Brien said. She continued:
"I think that after 10 years, it’s really making sure that you hold someone accountable for the statements that they make. Former governor Romney has demonstrated a pattern of basically not being completely transparent about his financial dealings.
On the one hand, he says the reason that he should be the president of the United States is because he’s a job creator, and the reason we should believe he’s a job creator is because of his fantastic track record at Bain. But then when pressed about the bankruptcies and the lost jobs, well, then he doesn’t want to have anything to do with that.
So I think we that were able to uncover quite a bit of that in 2002, and I think that it's just looking at the inconsistencies, not only in 2002, but in his last race and in this race... just making sure that he’s being truthful and making sure he’s being consistent in the message that he’s pressing for, making his case to the people in the United States.”

Mitt Romney is a predator, a crook, and a liar. As a Mormon, Romney worships Mammon. He doesn't care about telling the truth, and he doesn't want to talk about it. If elected, he would dismantle the federal government and destroy the economy as we know it. His kleptocratic administration would make his exploits at Bain Capital look like acts of compassion. To get a better understanding of the cult that produced Mitt Romney, and to get your socks scared, off read The Assassination of Spiro Agnew, available at:
www.amazon.com/Assassination-Spiro-Agnew-novel-ebook/dp/B0083EGJXC
It dramatizes the Mormon superiority complex manifesting as racism, sexism, jingoism, and an anti-federal government temperament.
It shows the similarities between Islam and Mormonism and reveals the secrets of Mormon mind control.
Consider this review:
“With a clarity of language and vision unsurpassed in contemporary American prose, Steven Janiszewski's Assassination of Spiro Agnew takes us into a U.S. mazed with madness and Mormonism and all things Utah, a U.S. that was then and still is. Do we need a novel, even as brilliant as this one, about a young man on a divine mission to assassinate the Vice President because he is too liberal? Yes, now more than ever. Readers, welcome to a masterpiece.”

Everyone should read The Assassination of Spiro Agnew.
America under the rule of Romney and his corporate buddies will be the complete end of democracy. It's never been perfect, but this will finish us, without a doubt.

Did I miss anything ?
Sounds like the perfect Republican candidate to me ! He totally fits the profile.
Romney was recently out with Dick Cheney in Wyoming for a fund raiser. Both Romney and Cheney seem to like to go to war a lot especially when someone else gets to do the fighting. I did 20 years on active duty, the only time I saw combat was in the Persian Gulf War in 1991. However, I was directly involved in combat information support of five wars and numerous other conflicts. Many times my unit would also support units deployed by loading their equipment, troops, vehicles, and other equipments out to airfields or from airfields on the return trip working nights, holidays, weekends, 14 days straight with one or two down days. A typical day supporting a unit might start at 5 AM or 6 AM and not end until 8 or 9PM at night, certain other soldiers like me might not get off of duty until Midnight. Such was life in the Army after 9-11. We worked plenty hard before 9-11 with the Balkans and the two no fly zones in Iraq but with the 2003 Iraq invasion and Afghanistan the operations tempo went absolutely insane.
The U.S. Army was simply not large enough to sustain two prolonged insurgency wars. The national strategy never envisioned two prolonged insurgency wars only short ones like Desert Storm one at a time. If America wants to fight two prolonged insurgency wars it needs to reintroduce the military draft. It is abuse of personnel to expect soldiers to deploy three and four times for year long deployments into a combat zone. Some soldiers have served five tours or more in a combat zone. When looking back at the cost of PTSD, brain trauma, and the deterioration of mental health among veterans we will realize that as a society we asked too much of our warriors as a nation. Few if any soldiers can serve three or four tours without serious psychological problems readjusting back into civilian life. I will loathe George Bush and Dick Cheney for what they did to the U.S. military the rest of my life. A professional soldier expects one or two combat tours during his career but five or six combat tours is absolutely negligence on part of the Bush Administration who started both of these wars but did nothing to lesson our dependency on imported oil.
What no one likes to talk about is that we are going to keep right on with this hyper-deployment schedule of our military as long as we imported oil from unstable parts of the world. Politicians like Mitt Romney and Dick Cheney are in total denial about the complete cost of our oil addiction. Typically, we spend about $11 per gallon of fuel once all the environmental, health, and military costs are all added up. I think that Americans should be taxed for fuel consumption at a much higher level say $5 to $6 per gallon as a permanent price floor. CAFE standards should require 50 MPG today not in 2025. Americans waste too much fuel driving gas guzzling SUV's and large four wheel drive pickup trucks. We consume 20% of the world's fuel but only have 2% of the oil reserves. We spent at least $4 trillion long term on both Iraq and Afghanistan.
What should look at Germany as a model to what to do about energy policy. The Germans don't need to spend $614 billion on their military to secure their oil supply lines from unstable parts of the world. The Germans do not need large nuclear powered money guzzling aircraft carrier battle groups because the Germans have wisely invested long term in green energy. The Germans recently got 50% of their electricity from solar panels in midday. The Germans have wind farms, solar panels, and smart grids that are expanding rapidly around the country. Germany also has a robust biomass fuel system that can produce both heat and power in small rural farms, villages, or industrial plant applications for local power and heat generation. The Germans also have a robust high speed bullet train system called the Inter City Express or ICE. The Germans also have excellent bus and commuter rail systems. Plus Germany is a bicycle friendly country. The average German consumes one-half the amount of fuel per capita than the average American.
We obviously can not make all of America like Germany. But Germany is a major industrial power that can teach us many energy lessons. When you see the pictures of dead American servicemen or women returning home to for their funerals you need to ask yourself is their a better way? Can we avoid what is happening to our soldiers and to our country? The answer can be found by looking at Germany and copying them in a huge way. We could tear up our interstate highways and put ICE bullet trains on them where our population density is high. We can build electric cars. We can invest massively on electric hybrid buses and on commuter rail. We can invest heavily on improved Amtrak service. We can build wind farms on the coasts, the Plains states, and connect them with smart grids to the consumer. The southwest can be filled with solar panels on every building and on top of remote sites requiring electricity. We need deep offshore wind farms not more deep offshore drilling. The German way is the right way for America. The Germans are a lot smarter than American conservatives. Peak oil production, global warming, and our national security all of the common thread of Americans being addicted to using vast quantities of oil. In the future the rise of the BRICS and Asian-Pacific rim countries are making this increasingly unsustainable. We will end up fighting another trillion dollar war for a $200 barrel of oil in the future, if we do not leave oil before oil leaves us.
Hey! I want this job where I can be owner and CEO of a corporation and do nothing while earning over 100,000 dollars a years AS EXECUTIVE PAY for years after I leave and do nothing! Call me yea! And where I can deny all the bad stuff and take credit for at least five more companies (after I leave and have nothing to do with it) that are not the bad stuff . . . and where I can have an official press conference two years after I leave and do nothing with the company to announce that I am leaving and still make 100,000 dollars a year executive pay (not investment pay) for another whole year after that! Better yet ~ I get to keep all the millions and billions from all the folks whose jobs I had nothing to do with losing and outsourcing . . . and I don't have to claim accountability even though I am legally CEO and making all that money as my salary! American Dream Baby! Then I will run for president and run the whole federal government, better yet! I have so many billions that everyone will just bow to me and believe anything I say, and I don't even have to release my tax returns to show those years when I say I did nothing nothing nothing nothing. So rich and so free. Call me, I want that job!!!! Hey and if you vote for me I promise I will get you a really awesome job . . . because that's just the kinda person I am! oh and of course if you vote for me . . . I'll get rid of that pesky Romneycare (OOPS) I mean Obamacare. Pardon me. . . . and if you only knew what is in my heart . . . you would believe me and trust me when I say I am now pro life and anti gay and a severely and I mean SEVERELY conservative. Never mind all the footage of me standing up for mandates and universal health coverage, announcing that Roe v Wade should never be messed with and that I would beat Kennedy with my pro gay stance. I have changed my heart . . . if you only knew what is in my heart you would vote for me . . . cause you know, corporations are people, too :(
Like most Republicans, Mitt Romeny feels like he's above the law & that the rules of conduct do not apply to him & his powerful friends. Having all those PACS & billionaire friends make them feel invincible. The pipeline of cash from these powerful PACS give the Republican Party the arrogance that is blatantly seen in dictatorships & corrupt third world countries. It is shameful & down right Un-American for these individuals to lie & cheat without accountability. And they hide behind the American Flag without having a single clue of the Flag's true significance & what it represents. America & the AMERICAN Flag represents HONOR, FREEDOM, INTEGRETY, COURAGE, FREEDOM & BROTHERHOOD. We, the people, need to send a strong message to these ruthless individuals that American is not for sale!!!!
Come on people, just look at his face!
Tongue tied at February 1999 or, maybe he hasn't quite realized it's 2012!
