Ted Cruz, center, greets supporters at a Houston voting precinct on election day, July 31, 2012.
Senate candidate Ted Cruz (R-TX) may be the first to shore, but he says there's a new wave of Tea Party victories coming behind him.
Cruz won the Republican Senate election runoff in Texas last week, in an upset win against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. He is expected win the November general election in the predominantly red state.
"I think it is part of a tidal wave that is sweeping the whole country, which is that voters are tired of career politicians in both parties," Cruz said, speaking on this week's Fox News Sunday as part of his talk-show victory lap. "I mean, our country is at a crisis point right now ... The American people are looking for new leaders who will step up and stop spending money we don’t have."
Much like the 2010 elections that brought dozens of Tea Partiers into office, Cruz said 2012's races will see a second wave of Tea Party victories. "I believe that tidal wave is only stronger in 2012," he said.
The Tea Party has not been making very many headlines lately, but Cruz says that's because they are "getting to work," fielding candidates instead of demonstrating.

The Tea Party will remain a negative element, until they start to use their strength to actually govern, rather than just obstruct. Right now, they are worthless, and a major source of our continuing decline.
There is nothing wrong with the concept of making government more efficient, but, the concept of reducing government to nothingness, is just plain stupid, in a nation of over 300 million population.
The biggest problem that I see is that none of them seem too concerned about being just plain stupid. Slash spending no matter what program and no matter what the results. Turn our country third world for sure. I think that you have to look to feudal England to find the level of government programs that they are looking for.
I trust Ted Cruz to cut or eliminate Social Security, Medicare, medicare and the minimum wage. The program for meals on wheels for seniors is another cutting and food stamps. Only thing to have taxes for is the military to defend the true Americans! We need to stay out of CHINA way in the Pacific and its not Phillippine oil any way. Think now why TEXAS is doing so well, it because China owns 1/3 of it mineral rights. The Keystone pipe line oil when it is built is owned by China the contract was signed 3 years ago, because China owns the sand oils. Bain Capital already has it agents working inside CNN to slam Obama. If only the American worker was forced to take what the Chinese pay their workers the unemployeement rate would be around 2%. China is better at Capitalism than stupid democrats. I don't understand why the democrats wont take the early payout and hand their voting ticket to AMC Theaters owners (CHINA). Democrats are stupid for not taking money from the CLUB FOR GROWTH the new world order, don't they understand GAME OVER!
Put down the crack pipe and wait 24 hours before posting -- so you can make sense.
Cantinflas, one of the best Latino American comedians of all times, expressed his opinion about the Argentina after a short visit to that country. If we replaced "Argentina" by "America" in his statement, this is what we get: "America is composed of millions of people who want to sink it, but fail". Is that not what the Tea Party is doing: trying to sink America? I really hope that on November 6, the "Tea Party Tidal Wide" turns out to be nothing more that a insignificant wave and that most Americans vote to stop the inmates from running the asylum.
All I have to say is anonymous posts are cowardly and typically false. That is all.
Not a tidal wave, more like a tidal pool----spinning in a circle and going nowhere.
