A new voter ID law passed by Republicans in Pennsylvania could disenfranchise over three quarters of a million voter, and will likely hit the poor and minorities hardest. In a sign of the confusion the law's requirements are already creating, even the state official charged with enforcing it has acknowledged: "I don't know what the law says."
On August 3, Alex P. Kellogg and Evan Puschak went to inner-city Philadelphia for MSNBC's Lean Forward to hear from some of those affected, at an event organized by the SeniorLAW Center, a nonprofit group that advocates for seniors.
Lenora Carey, 101, told them she's voted for decades but has no ID. If it weren't for help she's getting from voting rights groups, she'd likely be shut out this time.
"We struggled thru the '60s for the right to vote," Jerome Kennerly, a 62-year-old African-American military veteran said. "And here it is the 2000s, and we’re struggling with the same things? Come on, it’s a nightmare."

And remember, according to the Republican Lawyers Association, the incidence of voter fraud is less than one case per state per year. Less than one. Yet the remedy passed by the Pennsylvania GOP legislature and signed into law by the GOP Governor is to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Americans. So much for 'virtue, liberty and independence' I guess.
if people like this lady has been voting for years why are they picking on them? well, because they vote democrat. i want to know why the DOJ IS NOT DOING ANYTHING. this is not right. msot voter fraud is small and minute and when it is found it's usually by a repuke.
What do these people with IDs do when they go to a doctor? You have to show ID for damn near eveything. I just cant imagine anybody not having an ID. Even kids in high school have IDs. I remember I had to use my ID to vote one time simple because I had lost my voter registatrion card. My advise to anybody who dont have ID is try everything you can to get one. You need one just in case of an accident your kin can be notified.
This Crap that the teabaggin-gop-neo-cons are pulling Has NO Merit - They are doing this for Only a few reasons -
1 - To Stack the deck in their favor
2 - to Override our Constitutional Rights for Their Own Personal Gains
3 - to attempt to take Total Control of OUR Polling venues
4 - That's It In a Nutshell - Or Shall I Say "Nutcase's"
1,2,3,4.
Obama to a "T".
Nice job in pointing out obummers ways.
Why don't you show us some proof, holy crap?
Jim Greer, Former Florida Republican Chairman, Says Party Officials Discussed Suppressing Black Vote
In a lawsuit filed against the Republican Party in Florida, former chairman Jim Greer said that party officials discussed ways in which they could prevent blacks from voting, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Greer alleged that party officials, some of whom he called "whack-a-do's," discussed suppressing the black vote in a December 2009 meeting.
"I was upset because the political consultants and staff were talking about voter suppression and keeping blacks from voting. It had been one of those days,'' he said. Greer also said that the party wanted to oust former governor Charlie Crist, a Republican, in part because Crist appointed a liberal black judge to the state's Supreme Court.
Greer, however, has an axe to grind: he is facing corruption charges on six felonies, including money laundering and grand theft stemming from allegations that he ran a shell company that improperly funneled party money to him.
Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, a Republican, has endorsed a voter I.D. law in the state, as well as a purge that its supporters say is meant to keep non-citizens from illegally casting a ballot. But critics say that voter fraud almost never happens, that disproportionate numbers of the people purged are Democrats or Hispanics who are legally eligible to vote, and that the purge does not leave them sufficient time to re-register in the event that they were accidentally kicked off the voter rolls.
Earlier this week, Crist said that Rick Scott, who succeeded him as governor, called the state's voter I.D. laws and its controversial voter purge "unconscionable."
"The concern really is on sort of a closing the door on democracy," Crist told MSNBC on Wednesday.

Research seem to suggest that most of the fraud is committed by the T-publicans. At least they seem to be the ones going to jail for it.
They hate poor people, minorities and less fortunate. That is why the do not want them to vote. It is plain hatret, abuse, evil and malice toward those who struggling in life. What I find evil is that the more religious a person is, the more irrational, mean and against the less fortunate they are.
You will find in my posts that I utterly and completely support a host of progressive issues, and I know what the Bible says and does not say, because I have read it every night (cover to cover) for more years than I can remember. As the 'nuns on the bus' have discovered and are demonstrating, there comes a time when you have to stand up and speak out against wrong behavior on the part and manner of Religion and the Church. To tell our religious brethren and sisters when-how they are not behaving in love.
I hope the DOJ blocks this Republican outrage. But, what I hope even more is that the wives of all these Republican bigshots go into the voting booth and vote straight Democratic! That would be wonderful, and serve the sneaky, conniving b@st@rds right!
MJB, I agree!
Looks like Jim Crow has moved to my state, here in the north now! That is tragic. I think it has to be unconstitutional to make it difficult to vote! It's a basic right in a Democracy.
Oh.......wait...I forgot, Citizens United took away Democracy.
Now the billionaires own us. Their way is law. (I see the Koch puppets are out spewing their right-wing hate for their masters today again.)
India~ They're starting to purge Iowa now. I'm calling first thing Monday to see what they're using to purge with. And then I'm calling Dem Headquarters to see what they're going to do about it. Now that it's in my state, it's making me really mad!
They hate poor people, minorities and less fortunate. That is why they do not want them to vote. It is plain hatret, abuse, evil and malice toward those who are struggling in life. What I find evil is that the more conservative and religious a person is, the more irrational, mean and against the less fortunate they are. They treat women as second class citizens. They will do anything to make themselves feel superior to others, They are not satisfied with their own munificence. It takes a strong will power to oppose them. They are like mean dogs. (I love home dogs.) If you show fear they will tear you appart, but if show no fear they will leave you alone and may even become fearlful.
These are those who dream up evil; how to snare others in a trap whille resting on their beds and get up in the AM to carry it out. They are blinded and in their blindness they think that God is like them. They do not comprehend that when you set love aside you become self-righteous and part of the problem. Let me speak!
Having to have a piece of government ID with a picture on it should be a basic requirement for every government service/right/benefit. If you can't demonstrate who you are at the voter's booth, go home. Getting an ID is easy. There's plenty of time. Whiners.
President Reagan did not have a birth certificate until 1991 because he was born at home.
If Reagan had had to have a government issued photo ID to vote, he would have gotten one. If he'd been alive today, he'd have had to have one to get on a plane. Or do a ton of other very basic things in our society. Being able to identify one's self is a pretty basic thing. You guys need to get over it. WHINE WHINE WHINE.
Yep thats all you tea bagged republicans are good at, whines. You whine about problems that didn't exist then when you fixed the problem that never happened you find out that it's illegal and then you start whining that your ideal is legal because a bank somewhere needs your ID. But the problem is voter ID laws do nothing to stop voter fraud because it isn't happening with the voters but rather the people who count the votes, so its stupidity at its best and you whine because no one agrees with you. Here is a clue, the Bush Twins had fake ID's that let them go party while under age. So your whole line of reasoning is bull@!$%#. You need to stop supporting stupidity and get over the fact that you are not getting your way.
The only voter fraud I've seen is the staff of republican Thaddeus Mccotter, Minnesota.
@Randy Re: #3
If it was your vote - or the votes of people who support your candidates - that were being restricted, I think you would have a different opinion.
I agree that everyone should have the documentation needed to receive the benefits - and responsibilities - of citizenship.
This statement is grossly incorrect:"Getting an ID is easy. There's plenty of time."
The fair thing to do is to work toward the goal and make sure that everyone has the documentation.
ONLY THEN can we require it in order to vote.
THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT!!
randy,
i get really sick of the hero-worship of ronald reagan.
ronald reagan might have gotten a gov't issued ID to vote, BUT ONLY AFTER HE AND NANCY CONSULTED WITH THEIR ASTROLOGER, as they didn't make a move without a consultation from the planets and the stars.
ronald reagan was also the first funder of the taliban.
you look like a white boy who hasn't had a problem getting an ID or a gun ID. in texas, student ID's are not allowed to vote, but gun ID's are.
get over your ignorant self. as a white "boy" in america, you have no idea what it is like to be REALLY DISCRIMINATED against.
Suzette - my reference to Reagan was in response to another post that referenced him. There's no hero worship here. I recommend you read and engage your brain prior to snarky replies.
joca41~~You may owe Mn an apology. Thaddeus McCotter is in Michigan.
You have to show ID to vote now and with no voter fraud you have no affirmative leg to stand on and declare these laws necessary. If we are going to have this I propose everyone be required to buy a gun and a hundred bullets, they are cheap and easy to acquire and no one will dare think of committing in place voter or pettition fraud if everyone has an assault rifle. Partially because no one does that now.....but who's counting
You have to show ID to vote and there's no in place fraud now so no need for these laws limbaugh lovers quit your rambling and whining. You really expect people to believe you want to end fraud and you're not even thinking about absentee ballots? Ha.
Apparently if you believe there should actually be a problem before government decides to solve it and make things more difficult for hundreds of thousands of people for no real necessary reason that's communism. So there you have it solving a problem only when there is a problem is communism.
Random Bull-The voter suppression laws have absolutely nothing to do with voter fraud-and you know it.
And if you're really upset about it, why don't you complain about this:
Did Mitt Romney Commit Voter Fraud In Massachusetts in 2010?
Michael Kelley|April 20, 2012|
This question has been asked before, but it takes on new significance now that Romney has all but clinched the Republican presidential nomination and Stratfor emails accuse Barack Obama's 2008 campaign of stuffing ballot boxes.
The issue arises from the ballot Romney cast for Republican Scott Brown in January 2010 in the special election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.
The former Massachusetts governor did not own property in the state in 2010 and registered to vote from an address in the unfinished basement of an 8,000 square-foot Belmont mansion owned by his son Tagg.
Last June GOP political consultant Fred Karger filed a complaint with Massachusetts state election officials alleging that Romney voted in several elections without residing in the state.
Karger spoke with members of the Mormon Temple and Meetinghouse in Belmont — where the Romney's attended weekly church services when they lived there — and one told Karger that she "hadn't seen the Romneys since 2008."
The Romneys' former realtor told Krugar that they moved to California and allegedly Ann Romney told him the same when he saw her at a conference in Las Vegas where Romney was speaking.
The Romneys bought a $12.5 million home in La Jolla, Calif., in May 2008 and sold their home in Belmont in April 2009 (for $3.5 million). In May 2009 the Romneys began describing their $10 million estate in New Hampshire as their primary residence (presumably to prepare for the 2012 election).
President Obama has disclosed his 2012 state tax return (from Illinois) whereas Romney has not (from ?).
From Mother Jones:
Residency issues have plagued Mitt Romney in the past. When he campaigned for governor of Massachusetts in 2002, he ran into trouble because he had switched his residency to Utah three years earlier when he moved to Park City to take over the struggling Salt Lake Olympic operation. The move technically made him ineligible to run for office in Massachusetts, which requires seven years of continuous state residency before a candidate is eligible to run. After a lot of legal wrangling and paying back taxes, he was finally allowed on the ballot.
According to Massachusetts law, a residence for voter registration purposes as "where a person dwells and which is the center of his domestic, social, and civil life" and anyone found guilty of committing voter fraud faces up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Or doesn't Republican criminal behavior bother you?
I look forward to your evasive, snarky reply.
I never said the laws had a basis in avoiding fraud. Before you start putting words in my mouth, read what I wrote.
I simply said this is a mountain out of a molehill. The courts have already deemed that requiring government photo ID is a valid requirement. So just get an ID.
As much Bull as I thought it would be.
Its obvious a lot of you don't realize that there are people who were born before circa 1960 were born at home and back then birth certificates weren't required. I've been driving in my state for almost 40 years and now in order for me to renew my license again, I have to bring my birth certificate and social security card. All this is in an effort to deter people from getting State issued ID's. It's a shame because these are items that were required when I first got my license and when I registered to vote I had to show proof. Now that Obama's President and the Republicans are afraid they won't win, they're putting all of these obstacles in the way.
And it definitely affects a lot of minorities because those born before birth certificates were a requirement won't have this document. I understand a lot of you who make the comments about it not being a big deal are clueless about how things were before circa 1965. but those of us who were born and went through Jim Crow and other laws that didn't allow Blacks or other minorites the right to vote know this is just another ploy to stop certain sectors of the population this right.
WHAT ARE THEY REPUBLICANS AFRAID OF????!!!!
Is she doesn't have an I.D. how does she cash her checks or get her S.S check if she doesn't have any ID she would not be able to use her health insurance. Our constitution says you do not have to have an ID but in other words.
Wrong again.
It's called "State Approved ID". Much diffreant and more expesive to obtain. I wish the righties would start using at leadt a little common sense AND pay attention to the entire issue, not just the points the choose.
Most SS checks are direct deposited, and I never have to show an id when I cash a check at the bank. It is deposited. I use my debit card for purchases, so I do no write checks. I have had to use my ID a total of 3 times this year.
What bank is that? I would like to know so I want be depositing with them. I have never heard of a bank not asking for ID to cash a check.
Because you haven't come into the 21st century. I've not used ID for anything except renewing my driver license. I guess you've never heard of Debit cards.
Larry how do you cash a check with your debit card?
I depoisted a check today but instead of walking out of the bank and going to the ATM I showed my ID and got my cash back while I was in the bank. I ran into a problem a couple of months back where I had reached my daily limit on my debit card. I had to go to the bank and withdraw the money personaly. I had to show my ID to withdraw money. I just cant imagine anybody not having an ID.
I believe it's called a scanner. Slide your debit card and they have this thing, I believe is called a comuter, I some how the communicate with each other.
Too bad it doesn't work for voting.
larry74~~I have never shown an ID to renew my TL. I renew by mail. Even years ago, when I went in to get my photo DL, I never had to show ID. Even my very first DL, when I was 16 years old, I did not have to show ID. We have no privacy any more. Everything about us, is on the web. I agree, this voter, photo ID law, could have been implemented in a way, without violating the constitutional right of any voter. But this law was enacted by ALEC, for the very reason of suppressing the vote. Republicans are criminals by violating the constitution, with dis-enfranchising, the voters right to vote. We the people should have the same status as the grand jury, and convict the bast**ds of perjury. Why should "elected officials" be allowed to lie to their constituents and accuse their constituents of committing the crime of voter fraud. How can anyone with half a brain vote for a criminal
I guess you guys dont get out much. If your ever on a greyhound bus and you go through Peduca Kentucky the bus driver will stop at the gates of Ft Campbell and he will literaly ask evey rider to show their ID. If you dont have one you have to get off the bus and wait till it comes back through. I was still smoking so I told the driver I didnt have my ID in fact about 5 of us got off we all actualy had IDs but we wanted a cig. If you ride a plane, go to the doctor, cash checks, go to a casino, go see one of Eric Holders speeches about voter IDs and the list goes on and on. My sugestion is if you dont have ID get one as soon as possibly you may get in an accident and it make it easier to contact your family.
A lot of these people have never flown or gone to a casino. They live in areas where they are known by their doctors (where I've never had to show anything but my insurance card) and with debit cards, you don't have to show an ID, just swipe your card at the teller's window. There are millions of US citizens who have never left their neighborhoods or the cities where they live. A lot live in small towns where everyone know each other (or know of), so all these things aren't necessary. Besides most of the people who are affected by these requirements would NEVER think of fraudulently voting.
Any state ID should be good
or federal ID
Or the Republicans could just stop trying to rig the vote.
I heard on the Rev tonight that Iowa is starting to purge voter rolls. Monday morning I'm calling them and asking just what they are using to purge them with. And then I'm calling Democratic headquarters to see what they're going to do about it. It's one thing when it's someone else's state, it's in the abstract, but when it's your state it makes you fighting mad!
Yeah. right shes not in the system, This is democracy? If your still breathing in this country{after how many years} They can still forget about you and act like you dont exist! I think theres something terribly wrong! Just my opinion. Let that woman vote!
What's the matter here" really " and some republican making a pay check off the state of pennslyvanians ,What a terrible joke.! Who ever is behind this has no clue! And should be ashamed, Theres no excuse to leave a person thats 101 years old behind, to a war veteran of this nation. !
#7.1 That's the plan. The GOP has a weak candidate, so they will bring back the Jim Crow laws to help the s.o.b win.
That's their insurance policy. 700,000 in my state alone have been disenfranchised by our GOP governor.
Just in the last week, these were the same bloggers argueing against letting the military vote a little earlier than anyone else, yet they want Mickey Mouse, dead people and people pretending to Eric Holder at a primary election to continue to vote in elections.
Wavy-Fog-4 , The bottom line if a person is here for 101 years ,and she cant vote ,because of some modern day epifhany in the party, dead people cant pretend to do "above" what you just explained, She nor he is no eric holder ,but a fabric of history living into today's modern world.! This is not a democracy but an oppression, led by a party of this nation of the United States of America.!
Voter fraud has to be stopped, sure it will be a bumpy road and in the end we have to narrow the margin of error and make these elections as far and accurate as possible. There will be some casualties and a few will slip through the cracks like the woman featured in this story.
Why cant you slip through the cracks, so I can write about you!?
Daveydog4, there have been so few incidents of voter fraud that it does not justify what they're doing. But you have been so brainwashed that you can't understand the truth. So sad. Do you really thing this 101 year of woman is gonna commit voter fraud?
As a matter of fact, voter fraud was not an issue it his country until, wow, George W was running. And he wasn't even elected by the people, he was put in by his father's Supreme Court. Go figure!
How on earth can you be 101 years old and not have a photo ID? or have had one in your life?
How do these people cash their SS checks? How do they prove who they are when picking up prescriptions?
How do these people prove who they are when they go to the hospital?
You can not live your life with out a photo ID.
Next this only 2 people in a state of over 12 million people, not like anyone is keeping the masses from voting!!!
What about the economy? the debt? the over 12 million people out of work? the over 41 million people on food stamps?
No it is way more important to spread a truck load of BS about the republicans than deal with the real issues.
Obviously you can. ID's were not required until recent years, at least State Issued ID weren't. Social Security cards were, until recent years, your form of valid ID. And probably when she got hers, all they required for witnesses to attest to who you were. But you probably are not old enough to know about how it was 30-40 years ago.
So a veteran killed a person that you never did{ In past wars},And did'nt have an I D.And a person that lived through a times of pure racial divide starting back from the early 1910 to twenties is automatically disqualified!?
Soooooo, offer some solutions to stopping voting fraud? And don't deny it is not happening.
Tell that your elected leaders and aldermans that you pay taxes to for.!
Those who make the accusation need to prove it is happening not the other way around.
oh yea voter fraud is a REAL issue ..
On May 1, 2012, the ACLU of Pennsylvania, the Advancement Project, the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia (PILCOP), and the Washington, DC law firm of Arnold & Porter LLP filed a lawsuit in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania to overturn the voter ID law passed by the General Assembly in March 2012.
The lawsuit alleges that the state's voter photo ID law violates the Pennsylvania Constitution by depriving citizens of their most fundamental constitutional right - the right to vote. The plaintiffs are asking the Commonwealth Court to issue an injunction blocking enforcement of the law before November's election. If the law is not overturned, most of the plaintiffs will be unable to cast ballots in the fall, despite the fact that many of them have voted regularly for decades.
A hearing on the challenge was heard before Judge Robert Simpson July 25-August 2. A decision is expected the week of August 13. Whichever side loses is expected to appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court.
Voter ID law in Florida.
Florida driver's license
Florida ID card issued by the Dept. of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
U.S. passport
Military identification
Student identification
Retirement center identification
Neighborhood association ID
The radical right wing extremist, are using voter fraud, (which they know is next to non- existant) as a distraction, for their low information fox watchers, from their rampant registration/election fraud, which is comitted by all of the gop, conspiring to steal elections, by hook or by crook. Every vote for a republican, is a vote for a dictator-ship by the likes of ALEC, Koch brothers, Grover Norquist, big corporations, big banks, lobbyist and their wealthy owners. Republicans have no interest or consideration for the voters who elect them. Those voters who vote republican are voting against their own best interest, and need to get educated on the extremism and corruption of the republican party.
This is a non issue--The ID's are free and the law has easy provisions for many different situations. Lack of personal effort is the only thing that would keep someone voting.
Lying, stupid and dumb.
What IDs are free and where? You're either misinformed or a liar?
Prove our statements about Michey Mouse and dead people voting. And it takes a birth certificate to obtain "state approved" ID. At 101 years old, she doesn't have a BC. They didn't even know what they were when she was born. And EVERY piece of ID required to obtain that "state approved" ID cost some healthy money. IF they were so concerned, why wait until the last minute so people wouldn't have time to get what's rewquired? One and only one reason.
My granny is 93 and she has an ID. Its not hard at all to get aID. I just cant imagine why anybody wouldnt have an ID,unless they lost their wallet. I had that happen to me when I live in vegas and it was harder for me to get my soicial security card sent from South Carolina. I was able to get my Nevada Id easy because my picture was already in the system.
Where in the Heck is all this Rampant Voter fraud happening?? Where? How many cases Total in the US happened during the Last Presidential Election? 10k, 100k ? how many? 700k in Pa??? If this has been such a Problem in this Country, Then WHY hasn't any President addressed it? Why if it is SO Rampant that the issue hasn't been addressed in a NON ELECTION Cycle?? Because, it happen's so little that it is a NON ISSUE, that is why.
The Bush Administration spent 5 years investigating voter fraud. 5 years and several $million. The found 86 cases nation wide. Most were human error. That voter fraud has got to be stopped all all costs. It's so rampant. BS
Sarge and Larry...I guess in yoru demented world that if there were "only" 84 cases of murder in the US that is would be a non-issue and we wouldnt need to have a law on the books to penalize the people who commit the murder and laws to help make sure that they dont happen.
No one has ever set off a nuclear dirty bomb in the US, yet we have laws against it...I guess that one is a non-issue also..
just saying...
Stormguy, I'm smart enough to see through the smoke, rampant, NO, How many where actually Admin problem's? How many Prosecuted? Anything to stop People from Voting is Their Game, WE are wise to the Trick and WE will not sit back and do or say nothing about it.
yes...I understand how you guys need all of the people in the country to vote in order to pass your leftist agenda, the problem is, the constitution only allows for all of the LEGAL CITIZENS in the country vote. I know that the constitution is a tough thing for you guys to deal with, but it is what it is.
Now, before you come back with all of your voter suppression BS or your racist attacks, let me repeat what I have said many a time before...I am in favor of doing whatever is necessary to insure that every legal citizen in this country has an opportunity to vote. I dont care whether it is mail ballots, early voting, computer voting or some other process that can be developed. I don;t care if the person voting is Republican or Democrat; male or female;white, black, hispanic, asian or some other nationality; christian, jewish, muslim or atheist; hetereosexual or homosexual or transgendered; rich or poor. I want every LEGAL citizen in the US to vote. But I will also support any and all measures necessary to insure that it is only those same people who are voting and only voting one time.
just saying...
So you think this 101 year old woman is not a LEGAL CITIZEN?
What in my post insinuates in any way that she is not a legal citizen. Please note the statement that says ....I am in favor of doing whatever is necessary to insure that every legal citizen in this country has an opportunity to vote. I dont care whether it is mail ballots, early voting, computer voting or some other process that can be developed...that would include this woman.
Unlike Democrats, I want to protect the rights of our citizens, not the rights of the illegal citizens.
just saying...
Hey Larry 74. 86 cases WOW that will swing the election, How many where actually Prosecuted??? Hey INDIA, How many cases of Voter fraud where actually Prosecuted in PA? OH wait, I heard that they admitted it was a non issue in PA. Rampant Voter Fraud B S !!!
Hmmmm. I wonder if 5 million people stopped from voting could influence an election?
What a shame that 2012 there is still a way to keep people from voting...Most poor people who don't own a car will not have a photo ID. A bank card doesn't have your photo ID, your library card doesn't have a photo. So if they get to the polls with no ID they will not be able to vote, just like in the days when women & blacks couldn't vote....We are moving backwards.
first of all i don't agree with any voter repression: but i aslo must bring up certain facts; 1) how do you go to the bank and do busy without proper id: 2) if you travel especially flying you have to have proper id to get pass security: 3) if you write a check at a store don't you have show proper id. anyone can go to the dmv and just get an id card my grandaughters had to get one to it cost about ten bucks or maybe just a little more. as far as i can remember since i start voting i always show my drivers licensce and voters registation card. so i.m just curious how some people get things done without id
The got ID based on their social security cards. Most of them don't fly or write checks. IT's not that cut and dry betterleftalone. If it were that easy, they wouldn't require it. They're doing it because there are A LOT of older people who don't have the documents necessary to get or can afford a state issued id. $10 may not seem like a lot to you but to a lot of people it is. Most of these people get less than $1000/month from Social Security and can have to choose between eating and getting their medication. In some places, you have to show a bill or other form of id to vote, NOT STATE ISSUED.
I have a question? WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO COMMIT VOTER FRAUD? Research shows that in most states, there have NEVER been a case of Voter Fraud.
This is what a person would have to do to commit voter fraud: one would need to (1) have the name of a registered voter they were certain would not show up at the polls without the election judges or one of the other voters knowing the person they are impersonating, (2) go to that voter’s neighborhood precinct and lie about their identity without being discovered, and (3) commit perjury in order to cast a ballot. It is hard to fathom why anyone would attempt to do this, given the risk of a felony conviction and the minute chance of changing an election result.
Now do you REALLY believe a person would go through all this to vote? REALLY?
People don't believe this Voter Fraud hype. It all your getting, get wisdom.
Funny how the poor and the elderly can have enough in the way of acceptable IDs to obtain welfare and SSI benefits, and for the young present at clubs and bars and liquor stores to be able to drink alcohol, but can't seem to produce them for getting into the polling places at the last minute to cast their votes, be it thru immediate registration or thru provisional ballots until their voter registration is completed.
Well, there is a big national election coming, and the embattled failed President Obama is directing his Justice Department (that's a misnomer if I ever heard one) to fight against state legislatures, Governors, Secretaries of State in the swing state especially so that they can mine all the votes possible from the takers class. Of course, the integrity of voting process be damned...we have an election to win for Mr. Obama, by hook or by crook.
Notably, in Massachusetts, (Mr. Romney's home state), the same department headed by the daughter of Democrat Party Senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren is caught up in a flap of having sent out to all Food Stamp recepients voter registration forms. Isn't that carrying a handy message,..register to vote (and register to vote in the right Party, I interpret) or your food stamps will be at risk. Amazingly, we now learn that the old Obama community organizing ally ACORN is a part of that tax payer funded campaign to follow up on the notices with a last minute registration drive. Now given that 34% of welfare recepients are composed of illegal immigrants, and a whole lot of legal immigrants to, and also former felons, just how many of those ACORN registrations will be fradulent? But never mind, we have a Senatorial election to win, taking back the Republican seat held by Scott Brown, elected to replace the old lion of liberalism, Ted Kennedy.
where was the concern about election fraud when citizens united was passed by conservative justices ? Where was the republican out cry? Where was your outrage and concern then? Obama spoke out against citizens united and super pacs and the possibilities of foriegn donations influencing our elections . The fact is there is a miniscule amount of documented voter fraud cases in the United states. There are no doubt super pacs collecting donations from foreign entities and they have relativley no disclosure requirements. however republicans and conservatives seem to be ok with that. im puzzled.
I would like to know why republicans and conservatives are so worried about voter fraud influencing our elections , however they all supported citizens United which opened the flood gates for the possibility of foreign entities contributing to super pacs which have extremely laxed disclosure laws??? where was there outrage and worry then? It seems as long as the money is flowing no matter where its from its ok even if its undisclosed. I think there are far greater chances of foriegn countries funneling money to super pacs to have there president of choice strongly outways the odds of a minute few americans who may vote illegally. where is the outrage about citizens united???????????
i would like to know where the out cry was from conservatives and republicans when citizens united was passed opening up the door for foriegn entities to contribute to super pacs and influencing our elections . super pacs have very laxed disclosure liability giving a pathway for foriegn contributions. It seems that as long as the money is flowing they are ok with fraud . I think this makes it obvious they arent worried about our elections being influenced , they are worried about the little guy voting for the guy that has there best interest at heart!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they were worried about elections being influenced they would have stomped out citizens united.
