Newly-minted vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan released two years of tax returns on Friday, revealing he paid 15.9% in 2010 and 20% in 2011. That’s $34,233 and $64,746, respectively.
The move did nothing to detract attention from Mitt Romney’s continued refusal to release more of his own. The Romney campaign turned down President Obama’s offer to lay off the issue if he would release five more years, but Romney did offer a tidbit of speculation on Thursday, saying, “I think the most recent year was 13.6%”
Here are a few of today’s commentary highlights on the Romney tax return debacle:
Dana Milbank from the Washington Post told PoliticsNation’s Al Sharpton:
“I don’t know about you Reverend, but I’d even be very happy to pay Paul Ryan’s higher rates on his taxes. What it illustrates is that Mitt Romney’s a very wealthy man, Paul Ryan’s a reasonably wealthy guy just with his investments and his congressional salary. Now, interestingly enough, because he’s a wage-earning public servant, Mitt Romney earlier on said a man like that should not be qualified to be president because he hasn’t worked enough in the private sector. It illustrates the point that okay, he’s a wealthy guy, but not extremely wealthy, and the less wealthy you are, the higher percentage you pay.”
Patricia Murphy of Citizen Jane Politics told Rev. Al that according to recent polls, most people don’t agree with Romney that the “fascination” with his tax returns is “small minded.” 63% of Americans say he should release more returns. Murphy said:
“That also means a significant number of Republicans would like to see those returns and I’ve talked to a number of Republicans who can’t figure out for the life of themselves why he’s not doing this. And I do think it goes to a larger policy question. If anything is going to go forward in the next congress in terms of legislation, it is tax reform and there is a reality in our tax code that we tax wealth at a much lower rate than we tax work, and this is a perfect example of that. And I think for Romney to not be presenting exactly what is in his tax returns makes it very difficult to go forward and argue for tax reform when he can’t have an honest conversation about the kind of taxes he pays himself."
Daniel Berger, an attorney and member of the Patriotic Millionaires, a group that advocates eliminating the Bush tax cuts, told The Ed Show Romney’s claim that he never paid below 13% is a sort of funny:
“His statement yesterday was laughable…there’s no reason to believe him, given his reputation for veracity. He’s the all-time flip-flopper, but even if you were to believe him, the 13% is way below what the average people in his bracket are paying…13% is way below what the average people in the 1% pay. You might remember the Warren Buffett situation. Buffett said he pays less than his secretary, it’s an outrage. It’s a disgrace.”
Bonus: check out what millionaire David Simon, creator of HBO’s “The Wire,” had to say.

They were taking over 21% of my income. This is a f'n joke.
The recent exchange between CNN's Wolf Blitzer and DNC Chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz attracted a lot of attention, especially from amused Republicans. The serious take-away from the episode is that Wasserman Schultz was bound and determined not to admit that today's seniors - as well as those nearing retirement - will be unaffected by the Medicare reforms Ryan proposed in tandem with Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden. Democrats plainly intend to propagate this lie far and wide. But it's still a lie - and an egregious one given that the intent is to scare seniors
It's obvious that the Obama propaganda machine has made lying a central strategy in their campaign. If you're a fair-minded, intelligent American capable of rational thought, you're invited to think about this.
Watch for yourself. In this clip Wasserman-Schultz has no answers to Wolf Blitzer's questions on Medicare attacks (August 13, 2012). She just keeps on repeating misinformation and Wolf Blitzer calls her on it.
You may use this web address to watch the clip:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5NJF5Fcvmg
(Just because Wasserman-Schultz looks like a helpless and comically angry little wet poodle doesn't mean she's not a malicious liar.)
It's easy to amuse tea bagged republicans all you have to do is give them fire crackers and frogs. Now real amusement is watching tea bagged republicans trying to lie their way out of their lies. But again the topic is Robme hoods taxes not what Debbie said on a news show, really focus.
@Basil,
What people are not comprehending is that Romney already paid taxes on the money that he is earning income from now. He already paid a much higher tax rate than he pays now.
What's left of his money is generating long term capital gains for him. It is taxed at a rate of 15%. If you don't like it vote to increase the long term capital gains tax that many seniors rely on to subsidize their retirement. It is money that they already paid taxes on and they invest. Obama should vote on raising it and see where that gets him in November.
If I was Buffets secretary I would fire my accountant. She only has to pay 14.9% on her capital gains taxes. Buffet doenst pay himself a paycheck thats how he manipulates the system. He simple just needs to pay himself evey week and he will be taxed the same as his other employees. However Buffet chooses to use this loophole to pay a lesser tax. He could pay more simple by paying himself a paycheck.
Because robme hood said he paid taxes you say he paid his taxes. After all he wouldn't lie now would he BOL.
No sorry but there is a reason wealthy off shore wealth in tax havens an it isn't because of anything more then to hide wealth to get out of paying taxes on said wealth. Only dumb people believe lying republicans. One again you prove the case when you whine about wealthy democrats like Warren B then you lie and make the claim liberals don't pay taxes like conservatives do, which is rather amusing seeing as its conservatives hiding wealth off shore. No credibility in your post seeing as you had to lie.
Alright, everyone in America, including Republicans and TeaParty people, know that Mitt Romney is a pathological liar.
Here's the thing, people have been asking why Romney has no policy plans. In other words, Romney gives no details on any policy he spouts about. My guess is, that Romney gives no details on his plans for two reasons: 1) Mitt only wants to be President so he can have the title and doesn't give one damn about 'the People.' 2) Mitt feels as though he can lie easier about his policies if he gives no details.
Romney has been running for President for 10 long years and Romney still has no detailed policies on any issue ... none ... nadda. In fact, recently a group Romney has praised, Joint Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center scored Romney's Tax Plan and said it would screw America by adding $3 Trillion to America's Deficit.
Romney shrugged off the TPC scoring and said his Tax Plan cannot be scored because it has no details -- so without details, it cannot be scored.

i am losing faith with America, Romney guy is for voter suppression, against medicare, women rights, abortion women’s rights to chose even if raped, he appeals to racist, the crazy religious right, speaks his words with underlining meaning to them(, against immigration reform, supports the wealthy and tax breaks, against helping the needy, increasing cost in healthcare which Obama care addresses and works to reduce cost, wants to give the rich huge tax breaks give oil companies tax breaks, lower capital gains tax for the most wealthy a free ride, basically, all against the middle class. give the freedom to the banks to put back in a financial in a crisis.
why we have not finished this guy by now and the race is close, what are we thinking? America wake up and smell our downfall of our nation.
this guy will not even show us his taxes and asking for our trust, because of what?
i would not vote for republicans for dog catcher, beware of whom we give america to.
Remember, they would not approve president plans for jobs so they can have 8% plus unemployment, and leave america without fixing our infrastruture , no nothing from the republicans in congress obstruct, obstruct is who they are,I say no way for them. His v.p. choice is on board with all of the above.
God you are lucky, I get hit for 60% taxed minimum.
I just wish he would hire Newt to teach his dumn ass how to handle these stupid claims.
You release the taxes and dedact everything except your name at the top, and the amount paid at the bottom, maybe the cancelled check as well. Then everyone can see he paid and how much, what he made, and what legal deductions he took are not relevant to proving harry reid a lier.
A lying tea bagged republican lying about his taxes how surprising is that.
See Heist the movie, or rent it......it is a documentary about where republicans are trying to take this country.
Sound familiar? Today’s crisis and heart stopping headlines can be directly traced to Powell’s real “end game” which was business control of law and politics. Powell’s fingerprints are all over Citizens United, the fateful Supreme Court decision which gave corporations and the super rich unlimited ability to shape our elections with virtually unrestricted donations. HEIST’s step by step detail exposes the systemic implementation of Powell’s memo by BOTH U.S. political parties over the last forty years culminating in the deregulation of industry, outsourcing of jobs and regressive taxation. All of which led us to the global financial crisis of 2008 and the continued dismantling of the American middle class.
Today, politics is the playground of the rich and powerful, with no thought given to the hopes and dreams of ordinary Americans. No other film goes as deeply as HEIST in explaining the greatest heist of our time. Moving beyond the white noise of today’s polarizing media, HEIST provides viewers with a clear, concise and fact-based explanation of how we got into this mess, and what we need to do to restore our representative democracy
I agree with Lawrence O'donnall. I think there is a felony they are trying to hide. Let's see, 911 and selling airline stocks short while they were in a free-fall in 2001. Or, selling short manufacturing and financial stocks when they were in a free fall late 2008. Or selling arms to Iraq or Iran, or ... He's been against American democracy since he was a spoiled teen-age brat, and everything in his adult life shows he is a economic sociopath with no compassion or empathy for his fellow man and driven to make millions off the death and destruction of American families and lives. Ryan is of the same cloth.
LIES NO proof............. Airhead..........
Right you know they are lies because robme hood said they were lies except robme hood lies all the time, so why would anyone other then a lie teller except the word of a liar.
That just sounds like your jealous because you failed to be rich. It is possible to do good without committing a crime. Seeing that Mitt has gave away miilions of dollars I doubt hes a felon. Just amazes me of the amount of people who envy people like Mitt. My god people you could do so the same with a little effort. I feel sorry for peopel who are jealous of those who do well. IM por but its becasue I took evey dime I made and thre it up a wild hogs ass. However Im not going to sit around and cry because people like Mitt were smart enough not to waste their money.

Ann Romney is an Angry White Woman - Caught Lying To NBC
by TeamSarah4ChoiceFollow
34.9K
Facts show, Mitt Romney is a pathological liar. What you may not know is that in Ann Romney's most recent interview with NBC (video) found here - not only did she show signs of being an angry white woman, but more importantly, she got caught lying through her teeth.
In this Diary I will first prove angry Ann's big lie, then I will point out times in the interview where Ann Romney is an angry white woman.
The Big Lie:
(Timestamp 1:31) Ann got visibly angry when the interviewer pressed Ann about the money she has stashed in Foreign banks and in Foreign countries. Ann was getting so angry she started moving around in her chair, almost as if she was thinking about walking out of the interview.
This statement appears on every IRS form and signed by the filing party:
"Under penalty of perjury, I declare that I have examined this return and accompanying schedules and statements and to the best of my knowledge they are true, correct and complete.
~IRS Form 1040 "
If thr rich commits a crime, they get off scott free!! If you or I did that we would be in jail and still have to pay the IRS!!!! Get out and vote!!! Obama/Biden 2012
What crime did he commit?
just saying...
capt re reg and his old tired Glen Beck tag line, just saying that I believe in robme hood no matte how much he lies. Here is a clue lying in a sworn statement is a felony, lying about your income is a felony if you fudge your income to the IRS. poor capt re reg just lies lies and lies some more why capt re reg should change his tag line to ............Just lying..................some more.
and you have proof that he lied? and the trial and conviction of his crime was when?
just saying...
Why yes I do have proof robme hood lied, his lips moved and words came out.
Did what?
One of robme hoods tax scams gone bad Son-of-Boss a tax ploy that generated $71 million in bogus tax deductions for Marriott International Inc.’s.
Marriott went on to employ another scheme to keep money in the form of a tax credit, which Congress has since done away with. Marriott then put those profits into a bank in Luxembourg, one of Robme's seven tax havens. Coincidence?....
Which is higher, your tax rate or the Ryan/Romney credibility rate?
The thing about Tax Rates is every pays as little as they legally can. People take advantage of every exemption, deduction and loophole their tax preparer can find. Our Legislators created the Tax Code and the President signed it into law. Now the Left attacks a fellow citizen for doing what was authorized by Law and that every one else does. I would understand the complainant about Romney if Romney created the Tax Code, but he didn't. Romney is however, just like the rest of us, forced to comply with it. I also find it funny that the Democrats in the House and Senate didn't take advantage of their Majorities during Obama's first two years in office to change the Tax Code and eliminate the exemptions, deductions, and loopholes. Could it be those very people outraged by Romney's Tax Rate take advantage of those loopholes? By the way when will Obama release his College Transcripts and Thesis? What is he hiding?
Or in other words it is ok because other people do it too. Which is a lie because most people don't hire teams of tax lawyers to find loop holes to exploit that most working people can't get. There is a difference between fudging a $100 on your taxes and fudging that goes into the millions that the wealthy walk away with. Even then not all tax payers lie on their tax returns, but then like most dishonest people you justify your actions by saying everyone does it which is a lie you tell yourself. In fact the IRS admits that most working class people don't take all the deductions they can take, either because they are unaware of the deductions or because they don't think they are entitled to a deduction.
We are intelligent to understand deductions, exemptions and the like.... SHOW ME YOUR HONEST.... that is ALL I ASK...
And as far as Obama's 1st 2 years ..... a fool would have jumped in head first to things like that, while OUR COUNTRY is in a total downward spiral ..... He worked on the immediate issues FIRST..... he or anyone else never thought we would end up with a TOTALLY USELESS CONGRESS with their blatant agenda's, many of which are NOT supported by their own constituency ....
If you don't like the tax code then lobby to change it ......
The economy and jobs is and always has been the most immediate issue. When he foolishly suggested he could do anything whatsoever to fix it and couldn't, he started focusing on things like health care reform instead.
So much for your theory.
Not so Fresh Prince ... With millions of people losing their jobs--and their health insurance--Obama had to act on several fronts. He's certainly intelligent enough to multitask.
His mistake wasn't trying to improve access to health care. And, related to the economy, it certainly wasn't trying to protect people from one of the more pernicious effects of unemployment in America.
If he made a huge error (other than not simply enacting single payer), it was postponing the implementation of the ACA. He should have done that immediately, regardless of the short-term budget consequences. By trying to be fiscally responsible, and allowing the Republicans to dictate the timetable, he left himself wide open to the attacks we're now seeing.
Lying tea bagged republicans doing what they do best..............lie.
How is spending even more money we don't have on more entitlements in any way fiscally responsible? How well-intended they are doesn't matter.
The problem with liberals is that they promote well-intended ideas that don't work on the sole basis of making themselves feel good.
"How is spending even more money we don't have on more entitlements in any way fiscally responsible? How well-intended they are doesn't matter."
First, he isn't "spending money we don't have." He made the program revenue neutral within a ten-year time frame by beginning to generate revenues and cut expenses while delaying implementation. He'd have been much better off in this election cycle by simply starting the ACA in 2012, if not 2011. However, he bought into the "we can't raise the debt in the short term" baloney that the Republi-cons have been feeding everybody.
Second, the idea is to cut health care costs in the long run by getting all (well, most anyway) people insured. Again, single payer would have been better, but this will do as an interim step. If everyone has insurance, they're more likely to deal with health issues while they're manageable, instead of letting things to until treatment becomes terribly expensive. That sounds like a responsible, enlightened, mature way to deal with a major expenditure area that has grown until it is now consuming more than 1/6 of our GDP.
That's why all other major industrialized countries have comprehensive national health systems. They aren't "providing entitlements" for the fun of it. They've figured out what too many Americans, especially conservatives, haven't: that keeping a nation's population relatively healthy also makes it more productive and helps improve the condition of the country's finances.
Whom, Taking advantage of the elements of the Tax Code that allow deductions, exemptions, and loopholes is not lying. I am in the 25% Tax Rate and I pay 9%, not because I lied, but because the Tax Code has legal means within it for me to do so. My mortgage costs, medical expenses including Insurance Premiums and Co-Pays, as well as Charitable Donations and other things are deductible or not considered income. You attack Romney alleging he cheats on his Taxes when there is no evidence whatsoever to support your opinion. If there was I am confident Obama's boys at the IRS would have filed charges. The absences of such charges is strong evidence Romney has complied with the Law.
Let me go ahead and reply for whomi...You know, save him the drivel of spouting more BS. Tell me if I get this wrong....OK, here goes....Right and teabagged republicans blah, blah, reagan blah, blah, GOP lies blah, blah, 34 years of GOP talking points blah, blah.
OK, done, I think I covered most everything.
If I purchase a house, car or any other MAJOR purchase... First, I investigate WHO I am about to do business with.... are they TRUSTWORTHY??? If I were making investments, I want to know the reputation of the person and company handling my money ......!!!!!!
This is COMMON SENSE..... if Mitt Romney wants votes, then SHOW "HE" is a honest man.... I don't want WORDS.... I want documentation ..... SHOW ME YOU DESERVE ANYONE'S VOTE!!!! ANYONE who would VOTE without FACTS like this are FOOLS ...
We are investing in the largest investment ANY of US will make into our lives ..... OUR COUNTRY ..... we want to remain a strong INDEPENDENT Nation .... Voting on hearsay and NOT DEMANDING details is throwing away your right to vote..... WE DESERVE TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!
One addition...... I AM REQUIRED to show MUCH MORE than MITT Romney as shown to become President?????? FOOLISH!@!!
Well Romney's not going to get your VOTE so quite crying.....
I agree with you and don't care much for Romney, but Obama is turning this nation into one which its citizens are becoming even more dependent on the government. That is NOT independence.
The nation has been voting on hearsay for the last 40 years. Hope and change was hearsay. Terrorism as the enemy rather than a tactic used by an enemy was hearsay. Read my lips - no more taxes was hearsay.
It's all a lie, and the sad part is we all know it.
There is absolutely no reason to expect that's going to change. We know politicians are liars, but we continue to believe the lies and vote for them anyway.
Romney is a liar, but it is foolish to believe that Obama isn't one, or worse, that it's acceptable to vote for him because he's the lesser of two evils.
Both parties should be ashamed of themselves for consistently nominating such incompetent candidates. We should all be ashamed that we accept this so willingly.
Poor tea bagged republicans still believing they have any credibility on the vine yet they are lying to themselves just like robme hood lies on his taxes.
Poor little whining troll flamer still thinks that making posts void of substance lends to his credibility while at the same time attempting to discredit others.
Typical mindless liberal hypocrisy.
Right says the flaming tea bagged republican running his talking points on a left leaning blog.. Project much. To bad for you that this is not free republic and I am not trying to school righties. Then I would be a troll, now who is the righty trying to school liberals oh yeah that would be you.
To try and "school you" would require me to falsely preclude that you're capable of learning anything.
I don't care which way this blog leans. Sorry to rock your little world with free thought. I know it's disturbing to you sheep that run with the herd. I know the concept of responsibility and fending for yourself terrifies you. I know you can't get your head around the concept that your entitlements are going to end one day, and then you will have to depend on the kindness of the very people you criticize here, or God forbid actually do something for yourself.
No it is not my fault that you have more delusional ego then you have education to back you up. What you post are the very same lies used by the GOP since 1979 nothing new or changed. That you continue to try to post those same lies because you believe repeating a lie will make it fact shows that you are a joke. Really we can get your opinion from every right wing site. You are nothing but a lying tea bagged republican trolling Ed's blog even though you been banned more then once.
Fresh dunce. Once again with the right wing talking lies. Accuse Whom of "no substance" but none of your post even come close. I've worked, yes worked, for everything I've got. The only thing I've ever ask our Gov't for are the things I earned and paid for. VA benifits, which were cut to shreds, but I earned every damn one of them. So take your insulting lying BS else where. You a troll and have no intention of a discussion. Just like all the other righties that come here. You've proven that with only 2 posts.
Fresh Dunce's name shows exactly what he thinks. Then he pretends to be even-handed and not be on one side or the other.
Keeps promoting the false equivalence so no one will single out Romney, as he singles out Obama.
Everything he says is a lie. Everything.
Ah no that would be you embarrassing yourself except your ego won't let you feel embarrassment rather you will lie to yourself that you are the innocent victim of liberals, never mind the fact that you are the one who embarrasses yourself by trying to post GOP lies on a blog of people that are your intellectual superiors. It is your ego that causes you every problem in your life, you get in over your head and your ego won't let you get the help you need. There are people with more knowledge then I have yet I have never met a conservative who had any real knowledge, they always stop instead of taking that extra step of doing the job right, their belief is I did the job I wanted to do why do more.
Obama tell your MINIONS to take your campaign out of the gutter.......
stop getting your candidates from the gutter and you wouldn't have that problem. Typical tea bagged republican picks a gutter rat to run for office them blames everyone for their gutter rat.
People need to be careful about confusing effective tax rate with marginal tax rate.
The "effective tax rate" is a person's total tax liability divided by his/her/their total income, both taxable and non-taxable. If we're talking about federal income taxes, then it's federal income tax divided by total income.
So much of the discussion so far seems to refer to "marginal tax rates"--the rate paid on the last (or "marginal") dollar of income. People commenting here who are saying that they're paying a tax rate of 21%, or 25%, or 30% are talking about marginal tax rates. Unless someone has a very high income comprised mainly of wages/salaries, and has few deductions or credits, they're not paying an effective federal income tax rate of anything close to 25%.
What I find interesting is that at least one of Ryan's returns was amended to add $61,000 of income. No idea how recently the amended return was filed. How does one not report $61,000 in income. I have some kind of tax statement for every dollar of income I receive so there is no chance of me omitting a single dollar of income, let alone $61,000.
When I moved from vegas back home I worked in Nevada and SC. I never recieved my w2s from vegas so I filed what I had. Three years later the IRS sent me a bill for 700 bucks. They found the infomaTion from Nevada and charge interest.
If The United States political ideology was compared to a NFL football Field, one inzone being socialism, the other oligarchy, The Democrats and Republicans are only playing between the 45 yard lines, only 10 yrds. That how much alike the two damn parties are in ideology. Their ass are so close together that a credit card won't fit. Government, politics, and especially the economy have become complicated (on purpose) your average person gets lost, both sides throwing stats at eachother. "Lies, damn lies, and statistics (Twain)." You ever seen that National Geographic, or the like, video about Chimps? There was a little drama but they were a peaceful community with a pecking order that worked well for them. Then scientists did an experiment and introduced bananas into the troop, which were not part of their natural diet. The chimp community was no longer peaceful, they beat eachother up for the new food. Thats the Dems and the GOPs and the corporate elite are throwing the bananas.
Jimmy Carter spent an outrageous $250 million on R&D for renewable energy!
In Iraq the US spent $300 million per day. As long as people vote for oil companies in office the US will have these type of wars. Iraq has been estimated to be second in the amount of oil after Saudi Arabia. If Willard gets in office the 2nd invasion of Iraq will begin. I wonder what will the big lie to get us back there? The Iraq war the war that keeps adding on to our mounting our debit. Many folded flags and many more permanently disabled. And for what?

BRAVO ~ Obama/Biden 2012 Thank you Mr. Maxwell for your wise words!
A tax evader and a pathetic lire is running for office.
A lire is a unit of money.
Just let the IRS take care of Romney's tax returns....if he didn't pay any taxes for ten years they'll have his head on stick. This is a waste of time talking and getting all worked up about.
You miss the point Davey..................how does one 'legally avoid paying any taxes' is a very relevant question!
I can't say I had a loss of income when my waterheater has a leak and my water bill and gas bill runs high and I have to pay a plumber to fix it..............I just have to pay it...................How does Romney write off so many losses and go into the negative on tax responsibility/liability? Why does he even try to get by without paying any or very little in taxes? Why all the money in off-shore accounts? This hurts American in lost revenue.................It matters...........no amount of minimizing is going to fly this election ! F------news and their slop bucket of lies try to minimize and say it doesn't matter.............but they are liars with no credibility whatsoever...........they only want to elect a republican........
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD!
Off shore acconts doesn't get one out of paying taxes. You never owned rental property from your tone. if you ever had one you probably had more expenses (taxes, supplies, repairs, permits, etc.) starting it up (like many small businesses) then you made money from it the first year. First, the majority of money Ronmey made was from investments in businesses. The tax rate for this is 15% because the money used was already taxed at a higher rate (up to 36%, in my view it should not be taxes at all because it was already taxed). He also gave large sums to charities (you know the things that help people and you get deductions for). Which lowered his taxes even more. If Obama did the same thing he would have paid less taxes too, but he kept more of the money so he had to pay more taxes, and the charities be damed. The IRS requires that you pay your legal amount of taxes. You are not required to pay more. Look at Warren Buffet, he is still in court trying to get out of paying his required taxes. Meanwhile he says the rich should pay more, I guess he does not consider himself rich. Yet he is Obama's poster child. Go figure, or Corzine that can swindle a billion dollars, but because he gave to Obama's campain, it is OK and he will not be charged. How many people will now donate to Obama 10% of their money so they do not have to go to prison for stealing money now.
I understand that. Having many investment properties among other things you have to deal with that and other issues. But this forum is not a investment college course.
Michaeel.............you don't know as much as you think you do. Having accounts off-shore does affect America. It does keep monies from being taxed! It also hides where the money came from..............just in case one would want to do illegal things in other countries, or even questionable things.
I have lots of losses and expenses...........where are my write-off's? All that depreciation crap is just another benefit made available to those who can afford lobbyists. And why can they afford lobbyists? They price-gouge, extract fees to high heaven and pass costs on to customers.
Some of these business's do go under, and it is because of their lack of customer service that puts them under.
For example Best Buy is struggling............I know one reason why,...........I as a former customer experienced their 'stick it to the customer" policy. I never shop there anymore and couldn't care less about their struggles.
Their arrogance has done them in, remember that ol' capitalism thing?
The stock market looks pretty darn good under President Obama..........and you know it! I do not want less regulations........ever. The lie repeated about 'so-called job creators" is officially dead! Not buying the snake oil anymore.......ever!
President Obama is expected to keep regulations on Wall Street for the safety of all Americans!
We have heard all the lies and spin of crap from the right- so what you don't understand is we don't buy the lies and never will.
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD!
Willard Romney a obsessive compulsive liar with magic pants on fire!
He is still not as good at lies, as Obama is.
Says another lying tea bagged republican posting on Ed' blog gee how surprising that he chooses to ignore that robme hood lies about lying then makes the claim Obama lies more. Just more right wing noise to convince Ed show viewers that robme hood can be trusted. Funny how he insists that off shoring money in tax havens doesn't mean the wealthy are hiding wealth rather its all on the up and up even though it has already been proven tax havens only serve 1 purpose, hide wealth from the IRS.
Also Willard is the King when it comes to insulating people. I'm not sure if he's qualified like Grover wants. The first time Willard had pen he messed it up!
Romeny paid his taxes despite the lies from Harry Reid. Off shore accounts are fine and legal, as long as they are decleared, of which his was, and he paid taxes on those accounts. The Real problem is the Government thinks all money is their's. That they just allow us to keep some of it. You hear them say the Rich want tax cuts, and the middle class will have to pay more to make up for it. The Rich already pay too much and the poor pay nothing, (most get back more money, because of the Earned income tax credit, (talk about a misnamed program). The Middle class help take up the slack, but the rich pay more then 80% of the taxes that the Government collects. The Problem is the Government spends too much money, more then they take in by about 1.3 Trillion dollars. Taxing the rich of all their money can not even pay for this. The american public rich and poor alike, has to live on a budget, why not the govenment that is susposed to be serving us? The american public would be arrested if we Printed money, to make ends meet. (note even with thieir printing, the ends are still not met.) we can not collect money from one person to pay for someone else, they call that a ponsi scheme. The government call is medicare and social security. We can not run the type of debt that the govenment does without going to jail. The funny thing is the ones complaining and trying to do something to end it like the Tea Party are called names that should be reserved for the ones doing the criminal acts.
Prove Harry Reid lied. ALL he said was a source said. He isn't the one that said Robme didn't pay taxes. Prove he lied r STFU.
The problem is when you speak from the Senate floor, you can lie and not be charged with either slander, nor libel. That is why he does it in the senate chambers. If he did it anywhere else he could be charged with a crime. Normally repeating a falsehood, (lie) knowing that it is not true is a crime. But being a lawyer he knows all that. But it doen't make him any less stupid for doing so.
And your opinion of Romney for his lies?
Prove it or STFU.
Tipical Liberal response. They want to silence anyone who disagrees with them. The IRS is the best witness. Anyone no paying taxes would be in prison, (Except for Bonny Frank). It is like using your logic to prove you are intelligent, and using your posts to prove it. :)
Of course, Bush, Cheney, Boehner, McConnell and the rest of the Republican politicians under Bush get a free pass.
Right or to put it in plain speak and out of the double talk. Damn liberals won't accept my tea bagged republican lies so therefore I'm going to whine. Go take your lack of knowledge of the IRS elsewhere those lies don't fly. Really just because you dress up your lies with good sentence structure doesn't make your lies fact. All you are doing in the end is spin and twist, or better known as republican dancing around the facts.
300. I'm not trying to shut anybody up. Just prove what you say. You are the liar not Reid. And with the SC ruling several years ago you can lie any place and not get in trouble. It's all now free speach. So I guess you can continue your lies, but you can also expect to called out on them. And NO, Reid didn't say he had no source. Just more right wing lies.
You lefties are all idiots including the biggest one Ed Shultz , you could take all the wealth and divide it evenly among the people and we would all be millionaires , the problem is in 5 years it would all be back in the same hands , because the money goes to those who know how to make it and keep it , so maybe you left idiots should educate yourselves on how money works instead of badmouthing those that have it ,
Sure. Just bring back all the jobs the righties sent to China.
Your righties are all sap sucking twits!
Concise.
So far all I hear over and over again from Obama is that Romney should show his taxes and that the rich are going to get tax cuts. Surely Obama has more than that. That broken record is getting old. Let's hope he finds a new one.
What about Romney's broken record? The one that says, "Trust me, trust me, trust me."?
I truly don't understand the need for tax returns to be given. I don't care what a candidate makes. That's what the IRS is for. I don't want an economical failure to run for president.
Obama keeps saying" Let me have another 4 more years." He didn't get much passed when the dems were in charge. 4 more years?
President Obama has gotten much accomplished.............there's a long list at Whitehouse.gov
You just refuse to look it up.................but facts are facts!
Obama/Biden 2012 ~ FORWARD FOUR MORE YEARS!
I guess I have missed Romney's lies. What are they?
All you have to do is hear robme hood speak, every time his lips move and words come out he is lying.
Prove it. State some facts. I get so tired of people saying things that they can't back up with facts. On both sides! Just because you disagree with someone, it doesn't mean they are a liar.
Romney lies about President Obama everyday! He deletes information, twists, distorts and is directly misleading the elderly!
To lie to senior citizens is the height of indecency! Republicans are loathsome and vile!
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD FOUR MORE YEARS !
You mean like you tea bagged republicans no what makes them liars is when they keep telling the same lies for 34 years. Want proof you got a computer go find it.
Look the vine agrees it double posted my post.
X............you lie like Romney. Harry Reid did not say he didn't have a source. He isn't telling the source! His prerogative...........his source may have requested privacy!
I agree with Larry74 Prove it or STHU!
President OBAMA FORWARD FOUR MORE YEARS!
Yadda, Yadda , Yadda, Blah, Blah, Blah you is wrong!
Proven!
Hi Dem Elizabeth...WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD. Nice to see you come over. Maybe you can use some of the little effort you used to make false claims of Republicans. After all, dems never lie, right. Again, welcome to the right(correct) side.
Seems many repugs have more common sense than you bugsby 2655863, .... They object to romney stupidity.

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/04/06/459894/lawmakers-want-the-wind-tax-credit-extended/
Bipartisan support for the production tax credit continues to pour in from around the country. This week, the National Governor’s Association sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to extend key tax credits for wind and other renewables.
Citing the need to stimulate new types of economic activity and maintain job growth in the clean energy sector, the bi-partisan organization called for a four-year extension of the production tax credit (PTC):
I am a God-fearing, democracy-loving, union-supporting, fee-hating puppy-loving DEMOCRAT!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Democrats!
Republicans are vile, wicked, evil, greedy, lying, stealing, thieving, unscrupulous, hypocritical, Stalinists! Oh, loathsome and just plain stink!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD FOR MORE YEARS
Wow, extra strong Kool-aid today, liz? Look up. How many more years?
Still drowning in tea, eh, bugsy?
How much does Rove pay you for this crap? Does it equal your social security check?
bugsy...........even my mistakes make sense..........Four More years !
Obama/Biden 2012
Tax returns are often amended. If you are involved in several companies, sometimes one or more has filed an extension and you don't know it's income until after you have filed yours. Therefore, ammendments are not unusual.
Keep telling that to yourself and maybe you will get yourself to believe your lie.
lesson one: wealthy individuals are not the 'job creators" the GOP claims they are. Its a strong middle class with disposable income that are the real job creators. you see when the middle class has disposable income, they dispose of it by buying things (both products and services). Which in turn creates a demand for said products and services. Employers hire more people to create the products and provide the service. which then perpetuates the cycle, because you have more people with disposable income buying products and more people needing services. This is economics 101, the law of supply and demand. Is Tiger Woods a 'job creator'? What about Charlie Sheen? Snooki? Alex Rodriguez?
lesson two: many of the wealthiest americans didn't get all of their stock by buying into it. quite a bit of it was awarded to them as compensation in the form of rather large stock options (which is NOT TAXED as income , or anything else for that matter, until the stock is actually sold, and then taxed at the long term capital gains tax of 15%). Example one: Tim Cook, new CEO of Apple. he was given 1 MILLION shares of apple stock (current value, about 650 million). And he likely gets between another 5-15 million worth of stock options every year. Solution? tax dividend payments at the long term capital gains tax of 15%, and the SALE of stock like what it is at its core, income.
I'd say the solution to your's is get some facts and quit repeating all the lies.
Can you show the link that will prove your statement that Tim Cook received 1 million shares of stock?
In fact he has over the past 2 years sold stock and exercised options , and is no where near 1 million shares.
Then blame everybody else for it. Sad, really.
I googled it and came up with it in .35 seconds. Sad, really:
So, Cook earns good money as the CEO already. Which is just fine. He’s also got just over 1 million shares of that restricted stock. Some from past years but the vast majority of it is essentially a retention payment. Stay with the company until 2016 and some portion of the 1 million awarded vest, until 2021 and all of them do. Such restricted stock awards are the generally fashionable replacement for the stock options of yore. The idea being that stock options only motivate if they are in the money, or likely to be, while restricted stock motivates at any value.

Titokhan - An excerpt from a book I'm sure you love... Atlas Shrugs:
"Doesn’t everyone believe that it is evil to be selfish? Isn’t it evil to work for profit? Doesn’t everyone agree that the purpose and justification of an industrial enterprise are not production, but the livelihood of its employees? Isn’t it generally agreed that an owner is a parasite and an exploiter, that it is the employees who do all the work and make the product possible? Isn’t it generally conceded that when you hire a man for a job, it is his need that counts, not his ability? Doesn’t everyone believe that in order to get the goods, all you have to do is need them? I have carried out every moral precept of our age. I expected gratitude and a citation of honor.”
It's like the Obama (and Titokhan) belief system laid out in prose.
Of course, that was written after WWII, by a Russian who was understandably anti-communist. I don't recall her saying workers should be abused and work for no money.
She also said this:
"The smallest minority on earth is the individual.
Those who deny individual rights cannot
claim to be defenders of minorities."
- Ayn Rand
Stalin's response to the public acclaim that Zhukov received was to accuse him of "immodesty, unjustified conceit, and megalomania." After the war Zhukov was demoted and once again Stalin had removed from power someone who was potentially his successor.
See how Stalinist the Republicans are in practice. Karl Rove must have been pulling from his play-book.
Stalin promised a government of "self-determination" and what they really got was a severe, murdering dictator! Wow!
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD FOR Sure FOUR More Years!
Mitt Romney didn't create anything; he inherited his wealth and invested it, buying other people's companies, extracting money from them, and selling them for profit, without regard for the business or its employees. He is a parasite.
The Koch brothers never created anything, either; they inherited their money from their father, and, like Romney, merely invest it.
I think it would be very hard to find a present-day CEO that built the company they currently run; they get hired, they make as much money as they can, and they move on, without regard for the condition they leave the company in.
These aren't the kind of people Ayn Rand was writing about when she talked about job creators; these are spoiled children with no respect for anyone or anything.
TheRealChris - Mitt Romney created Bain Capital. You know, one of those guys that made a business. It was his invention, the business model, the financial model, the acquisition and turnaround strategy, all of it. He is essentially the father of the private equity industry and structure as we know it. And the private equity industry is responsible for creating and growing more companies than you could possibly count, responsible for hundreds of thousands of jobs. Mitt Romney is literally the father of an entire industry that has now been replicated across the globe that is responsible for an enormous quantity of wealth creation, jobs, incomes, and changed lives.
You go ahead and repeat your silly "Romney didn't built it" lie all you want. You and Obama, we'll see how far that gets you, tearing down free enterprise and success. Obama and his team took one from the Karl Rove book by trying (with much success) to take a fundamental strength (Mitt's absolutely stellar business career) and turn it into a weakness. This is Mitt's "swift boat". Touche. But for those that actually know the real story, the real history, the truth of the matter, you sound like a partisan idiot.
He didn't build it he took daddies money and bought the business. What is with you tea bagged republicans who think buying something is the same as building something. Robme hood built nothing it was given to him.
The Red Dog-
1. Bain & Company was established in 1973 by a group of seven former partners and managers from the Boston Consulting Group headed by Bill Bain. Nothing to do with Romney.
2. Bain Capital was founded in 1984 by Bain & Company partners Mitt Romney, T. Coleman Andrews III, and Eric Kriss. In 1983, Bill Bain offered Romney the chance to head a new venture that would invest in companies and apply Bain's consulting techniques to improve operations. Not Romney's idea, Bill Bain's.
3. And, as it says quite clearly, it was an investment company. It built nothing. Romney wouldn't know how to build anything that wasn't already built that he could just buy.
4. Like most right-wingers, you resort to insults when your cherished ideas are shown to be utter nonsense.
5. Learn some manners.
I know Bain Capital. Well. And I know the history VERY well. I don't need to consult Wikipedia.
Bill Bain brought in Mitt and the other founding partners with an "idea" - let's use capital to buy companies and turn them around. Anybody that has actually ever built a company will tell you - ideas are a dime a dozen. The ability to execute is what defines an entrepreneur. Mitt started with a blank piece of paper and built the operating model - what do we buy, how do we invest in it, how do we restructure management, how do we restructure capital, how do we restructure product/service, how do we restructure sales, how do we re-invent the company, how do we create value, how do we package that in an investment vehicle that creates an ROI for investors.
You seem to think that a private equity "investment company" is some passive thing, just a financial instrument, like Mitt Romney investing in a company is like you investing in your company's 401k. Do you make the decision to fire the CEO and management team of your 401k and replace them? Do you restructure the product offering of your 401k company, or their means of production, or push them to develop new products or.... anything? No. I don't either. "investing" is a passive excercise. There's nothing passive about what Mitt Romney or other private equity investors are. They buy beat up, old, losing businesses. They put their capital at risk, and they do what they think is best to turn that failing/struggling/dying business into a winning/growing/succeeding business. Sometimes it works. Usually. Sometimes it doesn't.
I don't talk about this in the abstract. I know private equity. I know Bain Capital and what Mitt accomplished there. I know the industry that he is responsible for founding, the companies he saved/rebuilt, the other PE funds/firms that were spawned by his success. This isn't talk. This is fact. I've seen those facts. I've experienced those wins, and seen those struggles, and also the heartbreak of failed bets. It takes guts. It takes brains.
I can give Obama credit for his background. I have and I do. It's pathetic to me that you guys are so narrow-minded and partisan that you see only black, only evil, only wrong. It makes you non-credible.
Boy talk about delusions of grandeur, here is a clue you are not a big wig with inside knowledge, you just know what you read on the internet like everyone else. Really how lame can you get then do a blog brag you can't prove.
Whomitmay - I'm an entrepreneur that has worked with a half dozen private equity firms, including Bain, and have served as CEO of 3 different firms that were funded by both private equity and venture capital funding. I sure as hell don't need to prove my pedigree to a pencil d*@& like you. I can read your inane posts here (a combination of tea-bagger, Reagan, Karl Rove, and other pointless blatherings) to know you're an utter waste of my time.
My point wasn't to talk about me, it's to make a point that Mitt Romney is a man that has achieved great things in business. Not because he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth (he was). But because he did it himself. He was given assets, and he used those assets to create and do something that only someone with assets could do - create a new business model to put those assets to very unique and effective use. Mitt didn't just "kind of" succeed. He didn't do "okay". He @!$%#ing kicked ass and took names. He invented something - a business model that has now been copied and improved upon in myriad ways, and that has led to incredible wealth creation, jobs, and opportunity. That is a real and lasting legacy. The fact that you and your ilk see that is a negative and attack him for it says far more about you, then it does about him.
Little boys with a shopping list. And then they went shopping. And bought some really nice things.
Problem is, you think they built the supermarket.
Joe the plumber the second. Heres a hint, you are a tea bagged republican posting right wing lies and 1/2 truths on a blog that leans left and you think you have credibility. Here is reality, you have no credibility when you post the right wing lies that have been debunked more times then Mitt has sworn that he was for something that he now swears he was always against.
:-) You two are quite the pair.
We are what we are and don't have to brag on the internet blogs about who we are, we are left leaning posters who research everything to death. Sure we make mistakes, we admit when we are wrong and learn from mistakes rather then stick our fingers in our ears and start screaming I'm right because I say I'm right. We have yet to see one tea bagged republican admit they were wrong, rather they double down by posting more nonsense from right wing sources then when that fails they change the subject, always.
Whomitmay - you give yourself far too much credit. I've read way too many of your posts for you to be given credit for anything even close to "we research everything to death". There most certainly are left-leaning commenters that come here and have some real substance and perspective to share, who articulate a position with facts adn also informed opinion. That's actually why I come here - because I like a lively political debate/discussion with people that don't agree with me. I enjoy the 'informed' opinion of the opposition. I don't try to 'win' in those discussions. I like to understand what makes someone who disagrees with me... disagree with me. I like to see where we might agree versus not.
You are most certainly not one of them (a commentor with substance). Your posts are the most inane drivel imaginable. If your posts were just a bit more consistent I would think you're a program, using they most hackneyed, rambling, borderline incoherent, stereotype left-leaning junk (tea bagged). Even TheRealChris puts your posts to shame. You truly are the lamest of the lame on here. You only win based on consistency and frequency. Congratulations. I just didn't want your self-delusional position of "intellectual defender of the left" to sit there without a reality check. You should know the truth. Everyone else does.
Right says a guy who brags on a blog about himself. What you don't like is you ran into liberals who don't back off your BS and will get in your face. You post nonsense don't whine when you are replied with nonsense. Really it is a waste of time responding to right wing posts because they will just stick their fingers in their ears and start yelling that what their post is unchallengeable truth when in fact at best they have a 1/2 truth but mostly all they have are right wing talking points with no substance. The only one who is showing delusions is you, really to claim on a blog that you are some type of big wig is laughable, we know this because big wigs do not waste their time posting right wing nonsense on left leaning blogs, they hire clowns to do that for them, just like the way they do business, they decided then send out people to do the work for them.
Whomit - all you need to do is go back and re-read your own words in this single thread to see how utterly hollow they are. I mean really... you have absolutely nothing to say. It's just strings and strings of words that can be summed up as "I know you are but what am I". Your one and only skill is frequency of posting. Hoorah! You can type like a demon. It's like a random-word generator, selecting from a very short vocabulary. And yet somehow you think it comes across as making a case.
Right we are the guilty ones for questioning your assertion that you know more about Bain then we do because you were a big wig. That is a blog brag you can not prove what don't you get the fault is yours not ours.
