A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on Tuesday shows President Barack Obama holding a four point lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney. But among African Americans, the poll shows an even stronger lead for Obama, as First Read reports:
Looking inside the numbers, Obama continues to lead Romney among key parts of his political base, including African Americans (94 percent to 0 percent), Latinos (by a 2-to-1 margin), voters under 35-years-old (52 percent to 41 percent) and women (51 percent to 41 percent).
That's right: according to this poll, Romney has zero percent support among African Americans.
"The numbers came from a statistically significant sample of more than 100 African-American voters out of 1,000 total voters in the poll," NBC News senior political editor Mark Murray told Lean Forward. "Given the sample size of these African-American respondents, the margin of error is well within the 95 percent-5 percent split with which Obama won this group in 2008. "
In other words, none of the roughly 110 black respondents to this poll said they would support Romney. The poll should not be taken to mean that Romney has no African American supporters at all. However, at the very most, he has far fewer than Obama.

The government isn't responsible for saving the auto industry, nor am I responsible to save someone I see drowning. It's just the right thing to do. At the time, with the markets tanking, no private equity was available. This is what makes our country strong.

@ John from Tuscon~History has shown that corporations, when left unchecked, tend to become to greedy and only care about money and getting rich. It doesn't matter if it's big oil, tobacco, chemical, finance, utilities, manufacturing or whatever, they don't police themselves. They make their money(a lot) off the backs of their workers, customers and others. THAT IS WHEN government is needed!! It levels out the playing field and protects the interest and well being of the country as a whole. They shouldn't need to have regulations and enact laws to govern corporations, but the corporations have shown that they don't play fair and it's not really a "free market" system when they don't!

It shows older white males are misogynous, fundamentalist, racist, homophobic and more self-centered, greedy and less empathetic to a far greater degree than anyone else. I am a 55 year old male and proud NOT to be in the majority on this issue. Romney had gotten a small bump when Obama came out fully in favor of gay marriage because statistically speaking blacks and hispanics are more religious overall but I believe he lost that in a backlash as those groups recognized the organized efforts by Republicans in swing States to disenfranchise them as a voting bloc with new voter ID laws making it harder for many poor people without cars and driver's licenses to vote. They KNOW they were targeted and resent it greatly. The GOP efforts may have a reverse effect when it comes election time so long as these minority groups are adequately informed by the Democrats and assisted in getting proper ID. Had these laws been sincere in maintaining the integrity of voting they would be implimented with at least a 2 year grace period to allow everyone ample chance to know the law, getting pamphlets at the polls with necessary info and having the time to make adjustments. BUT the laws are clearly aimed at stealing the election THIS fall!

David A Deal----You are the first to mention a grace period. Something I've wondered about since hearing of the first voter ID laws. It would seem prudent for any law with such huge ramifications on voters to be phased in with enough time given to allow those to comply without infringing on their right to vote. Especially with the evidence showing there is no voter fraud to speak of.

romney will only win through cheating which is why the rnc are doing everything they can to rig votes on the swing states all over u.s. so democrats, be aware and do what you can to prevent this from happening agai the way they did it in 2004. go out and vote but protect it from these beasts and monsters who would do anything to steal your votes or prevent you from voting at all.

Romney and the RNC could hardly care. Blacks account for only 14% of the population anyway, their votes are probably going to be suppressed and most would likely sit out the 2012 elections out of frustration. They figure it's NO BIG DEAL.

I think you are wrong about Blacks sitting out this election. The fact that they are trying to stop blacks from voting makes me more determined to vote. I wasn't going to vote until he put Ryan on the ticket and they started seriously trying to stop blacks from voting. People died so we could have the right to vote. I will not let that be in vain. I will fight for my right to vote. I am a tax payer and should be allowed to vote.
Cindy 13% might seem small but when you put together all the groups that Romney have insulted it results to the poll numbers we are seeing today. Of course no African Americans should vote for Romney because he is not concerned about bettering the black community with jobs and opportunities. I am bless to live in a democratic states that have opportunities available if one wants to earn a decent living...but many living under the right to work states do not have that opportunities...welfare have became the way of life for both black and white because of lack of opportunity. Anyone who is not rich that votes for Romney will be voting against their own best interest and most AA are not that stupid that is why he does not have the black vote.

@Cindy, It blows me away how you say "their votes will be suppress" - like it's a given. That is a big problem. It’s not just the minorities they are trying to
suppress with these Photo ID laws. Many Seniors don’t have photo IDs either. If
they reduce that pool of voters, then the election could be close (2-4%) so 14%
(plus how every many seniors are left out) does matter.
The way you can tell that they are using these laws to suppress votes, part of those laws, should have included mandatory public service ads on TV to promote the fact that votes will need to secure a Photo ID before the election.
I agree with Carol, don't assume everyone is frustrated and they won't vote. Everyone knows what's going to happen if Romney were to get elected and that will get them to the polls. The GOPS knows that and that is why they are trying to suppress those votes.

Let me break a little bit of history to you, racist. Most of the African-Americans in this country have ancestors who were here long before many white folks...
To add to that SL Cabbie, not all of the descendants of a black slave, are black. Some look completely white now and will vote for Obama. What happened was a preference for a whiter looking house slaves by 'Dixiecrat wives let alone rape and such. By the time the civil war ended they had two wifes. One pure and one not so pure mulatto. Then what ended the war was because some Dixiecrat's found that they could not tell, their perfectly white looking children of a mulatto wife, that they would grow up to be a slave. I know I am descendant of one such family. So some whites are not pure at all. Some may never know, but they were brought up liberal. Like a mix breed dog versus pure bred a mulatto white is often times smarter. Taking the best of all the races they have in them.
If you are not currently accepting, nor have no plans to accept in the future, any kind of hand-out from your neighbors (taxpayers) and are still thinking on voting for Mr. Obama, I would like to talk to you.

I try to pull my own train, Mikie, but the majority religion here tends to scarf up all the good jobs for their believers... Go spend a year unemployed sometime with few prospects despite a good education and sound credentials. And I hate to think how it would be if I were black...
And as far as handouts, I'm all in favor of them for mentally ill sorts. I have two close relatives who are a horrible burden on their parents even though both receive SSI checks... Somehow I don't think tax rates should be such that money can be kept in offshore accounts that serve no purpose other than to fatten the fat cats' wallets.

I am a middle aged white guy that does not like how blacks and others are having to deal with this GOP voter suppression. Not only will a huge proportion of blacks vote for Obama, most Hispanics and independent women will vote for President Obama too. Its fun to watch the GOP brand turn itself into the most hated political party in recent history. The GOP House and Senate have filibustered all kinds of bills including the American Jobs Act and the Small business tax credit that combined would have created three million jobs. The GOP failed to pass the Farm Bill that will hurt drought stricken farmers and ranchers who will go out of business causing food prices to rise as a result of their party's negligence. The GOP is out to sabotage the economy because they hate President Obama. The GOP puts partisan short term politics first and the needs of the country last. How unpatriotic can the conservatives get?

That doesn't sound like a very accurate poll. I bet I can surrey 100 black Americans and get 99 percent who are voting for Romney. If the survey was of 10,000 or so, then I would put more credence in this.
That's why there is a margin of error. The article further says that it doesn't mean that Miff will actually get no black votes.
I dare you to find 99 out of 100 randomly selected black Americans that are voting for Romney. I bet you can't.
What I find interesting is working class folk standing up for corporations ("The government has no business meddling in Big Business," "It's corporations, not government, that create jobs"). My fellow Americans, corporations have proven they have no loyalty to their countries, their hometowns, or their families. They answer only to their shareholders (and occasionally the consumer). Even if the company's name is America First, Foremost and Only Widget Co., Inc., if it's cheaper to produce their product in Southeast Ubeki-beki-bekistan, and Trade Agreements allow it, guess where their factories are going to be. That is, unless American workers want to under-bid their foreign competitors ("If you can work the factory line for 3 drachma a day, I'll do it for a drachma and a half less").
