Mitt Romney is living on another planet if he thinks he'll win a sizable chunk of the Latino vote, according to the mayor of Los Angeles.
Antonio Villaraigosa skewered the presumed Republican presidential nominee on The Ed Show Thursday, saying Team Romney's desire to win 38% of the Latino vote is laughable.
Indeed, the goal seems highly ambitious. According to a July poll by NBC News, The Wall Street Journal and Telemundo, Obama would beat Romney 67% to 23% among Latinos. Many analysts say it's crucial for Romney to significantly boost his numbers with Latinos if wants to win this November. President Bush won 40% in 2004, helping him narrowly defeat John Kerry.
"You mentioned [Romney] was somewhere—I was thinking Mars—when [his campaign] thinks they will get anything close to 38% of the Latino vote," Villaraigosa told Ed Schultz. "I just don't see it happening."
Villaraigosa's criticism comes the same week that Republicans adopted a party platform on immigration that requires employers to check workers' legal status, and bans federal funding to universities that allow illegal immigrant students to enroll at lower, in-state tuition fees. It also gives the thumbs-up to "self-deportation," an idea that Romney favors.
Villaraigosa pointed to Romney's endorsement of the strict Alabama and Arizona immigration laws and his vow to the DREAM Act, which halts the deportation of young illegal immigrants.
"Those 11 million undocumented have 5 million citizen children, so the party of family values and the man that speaks about family is saying they're going to have to leave their kids in the United States," Villaraigosa charged.

Bob Bennett of Utah, Richard Lugar of Indiana, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska that voted for the Dream Act and the rest of the Republican were against it.
Sens. Bob Bennett, lost the GOP nomination in 2010, Sens. Lugar was defeated in Indiana's 2012 GOP primary, and Sens Murkowski was the woman that belittle her own Republican colleague for their "war on woman" by stating they should go "talk to your wife and your daughters". She, too, was defeated in the 2010 GOP primary. She losing her GOP nomination put herself in the ticket as a write-in therefore becoming the first person in the last 50 years to win as a write-in and retaining her Senate seat. This is what happens when you don't follow orders to hate, you lose your "OWN" party nomination as an incumbent.

The years have not been kind to you. I grew up in a profoundly Republican home so I can remember when you wore a very different face than the one we see now. You’ve lost me and you’ve lost most of America . Because I believe having responsible choices is important to democracy, I’d like to give you some advice and an invitation.

But you have work to do even before you take on that task.
Your party — the GOP — and the conservative end of the American political spectrum has become irresponsible and irrational. Worse, it’s tolerating, promoting and celebrating prejudice and hatred. Let me provide some examples – by no means an exhaustive list — of where the Right as gotten itself stuck in a swamp of hypocrisy, hyperbole, historical inaccuracy and hatred.
If you’re going to regain your stature as a party of rational, responsible people, you’ll have to start by draining this swamp:

You can’t call for a pay-as-you-go policy, and then vote against your own ideas.
Are they “unlawful enemy combatants” or are they “prisoners of war” at Gitmo? You can’t have it both ways.
You can’t carry on about the evils of government spending when your family has accepted more than a quarter-million dollars in government handouts .
You can’t refuse to go to a scheduled meeting, to which you were invited, and then blame the Dems because they didn’t meet with you.
You can’t rail against using teleprompters while using teleprompters. Repeatedly.
You can’t rail against the bank bailouts when you supported them as they were happening .

You think a candidate like Romney will win the majority of minorities, women or college students? You may be more of a fool than I might have thought to believe this. Your refference is likely related to a NBC/WSJ poll where Romney gets zero percent but if you know about how polls operate, math and logic you'd know that zero percent doesn't have to mean and in this case almost certainly does not mean zero people. Pollsters always round their results in their headlines however there is a lot of data that goes into those that you don't get to see in the tag line. So technically that poll isn't saying Obama will win exactly 94%, there's something called a margin of error. Not to mention the fact that it is rare to impossible to come out with flat, even easy to handle numbers in populations of significant size. So Obama according to that poll will get around 94% which is close to 94% but not technically equal to exactly 94%.
Fact is Obama will win the majority of all minority voters. No republican can do that in today's climate. Minority voters are always sceptcle and view the GOP with contempt for it ways of talking about issues non-white voters care about. Having said that I think it is clear that it is not so much the ideas they do not like it is the condescending attitude they hold. When the right makes what many will trully feel is racial insensitive they response is almost always a "no you're not offended it's not racist for any reason and you can't feel that way...you do not feel as you do". To tell someone else what they themselves think as if you know better about their opinion than they do tends to rub most people the wrong way really quick.
