Reince Priebus worries that Republicans' years-long quest to retake the Senate could be upended by the "biologically stupid" Todd Akin.
The Republican National Committee chairman forcefully reiterated the GOP establishment's call for the Missouri Senate nominee—under fire for his recent comments on "legitimate rape"—to drop out of the race.
"I think he should get out the race," Priebus told CNN's Candy Crowley on Sunday morning. "He's got to put the mission of liberty and freedom ahead of himself."
When Crowley initially described Akin's recent remarks about rape and pregnancy, Priebus declared, "I call it biologically stupid."
And when asked if Akin could cost Republicans the Senate, Priebus said: "Sure, absolutely."
Democrats hold a 53-47 advantage in the Senate, and since they have to defend far more seats this year than do Republicans, many analysts have predicted that Republicans have a strong chance of picking up the four seats they'd need to seize the upper chamber's majority. But without the pickup of a seat in increasingly red Missouri, where Democrat Claire McCaskill is quite vulnerable, Republicans would have a much tougher road to winning the Senate majority. And some analysts have suggested that Akin's comments could even "infect" other races across the country, to Democrats' advantage.
Recent polls show McCaskill crushing Akin. A Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that McCaskill leads Akin by 10 points. And one by the Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., shows Akin behind McCaskill 17 points among independents. Back in July, independents favored the Republican congressman by 11 points over McCaskill.

Why Akin and not his longtime co-conspirator against women's rights, Paul Ryan? Because he was forthright about what they both think?
War on Women???......I wonder how Hillary Clinton felt about that in the 2008 Democratic primaries. More qualified and well seasoned politician than Barack Obama and she ended up sitting in the back of the bus after the Obama campaign pulled out the race card on her.
Yes it is a war on women, and we are looking in to having a million woman march...So just start looking out you repugs, chip.
In 2008 Hilliary was trying to break the glass women some more for women. So how do you thinks she feels about war on women.....she certainly experienced it enough from the republican .
Funny you repugs us terms like sitting at the back of the bus. Does it sound like a hateful code to you, it sure does to me. No body is pulling a race cards but the bigoted republicans, who are always trying to play that card game when they need it but we know where you all stand when you speak out of that side of your mouth.
For once I hope 'Prince Prius' is correct.
Last time I checked the Democrats have the majority in the Senate. Priebus must have felt that the Republicans were in position to take back the Senate prior to the Akin gaffes.
whine davey whine, because that is all you tea bagged republicans do, ignore what the GOP does and whine that the democrats didn't stop them from carrying out the GOP policies. Really davey it was wore thin when Reagan made the same whines as you continue to make. Here is a clue, at least Akins wears his stupidity as a badge of honor, the rest of the GOP who believe the same as Akins are to chicken @!$%# to stand behind their beliefs.
Such a baby, bring him his little bottle and feed him some real facts. Thank you todd/toad for using you hard head. Please stay in the race.....we will see who wins.
Do you people really think one mis-statement from a Republican will undo all the harm Obama has done to the economy? I know you like to forget about little things like the 16 Trillion in National Debt, Trillion dollar annual deficits, 8.3% Unemployment, theHousing Crisis, the Green Jobs Bust (Solyndra, Becon, ENR-1, Sunpower, etc...), Soring Energy and Medical costs, you know all those things Obama has given us, but more voters will not. Like so many other Americans, Obama will be out of a job in November.
Ah no it was not a misstatement as Akins just said the word he used was wrong not the ideal was wrong. And here we go again with more right wing whines without any ideal on how to solve the problem because the GOP hasn't had a new ideal since 1929.
Whom, And there is both statistical and medical evidence to support his opinion. Extreme stress, such as that endured during a forcible rape, negative affects the human reproductive system. It was a mis-statement, he used the word legitimate vice forcible.
2ez,
President Obama has been trying to fix the economy with ideas that repubs have supported in the past, but NOW REFUSE TO DO, because they don't want to give President Obama a "win".
we can never remind the american people too often HOW WE GOT TO WHERE WE ARE.
W.BUSH AND THE REPUBS IN WASHINGTON, ARE MOSTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FINANCIAL MESS. paul ryan's budget doesn't balance until 2040. repubs LOVE spending and deficits. they just love to blame democrats for the messES they create.
repubs have proven over and over that when they are in power, deficits and the size of gov't grows.
repubs give us recessions and depressions and illegal wars.
democrats are interested in helping the american people. repubs only care about making President Obama a one-term president. they don't care about doing the things they have done in the past to move the economy forward. all they care about is taking back power, the suffering american people are just collateral damage on their way back to power, just as the 4500 american troops who died were collateral damage in bush's illegal iraqi war.
how pathetic they are.
EZ if you had a clue about anything you'd be dangerous....Luckily you don't...
Suzzette, I am a Republican. I do not support the War in Afganistan. More troops have been killed there in the last two years, than in the first 9 years. Why are we still there? Obama should have ended it the minute OBL was killed, but it still continues and our Nation's sons and daughters are still dying. This has been Obama's War for nearly four years now, and he needs to end it.
You are right, as a Republican, better yet a citizen, I don't want to see Obama in office for any other term. As far as I am concerned his promises of a transparent government free of lobbyist influences were nothing but lies. Obama has paid off more of his cronies than any one. Unions, Green Energy theives, Banks, Wall Street, etc....
2 ...........you lie.............Afghanistan is Bush's doing. We are pulling withdrawing and ending the war there. Republicans are the ones fighting our withdrawal because their precious government contracts won't be needed.
Apparently you haven't been listening to Sen. Graham..........etc.
President Obama has tried and has been transparent.........go to the website......... AND why are you so concerned with transparency when you make excuses for Romney's tax evasion of disclosure?
Obama/Biden ~ The Best !
denlizzy----More Americans have been killed under your Obama than Pres. Bush. What Gov contracts/ Ya mean like the ones we got from Iraq? Zero! Yes mam, Obama is so transparent that he creates his Obama care behind closed doors, compleatly shutting Republicans out. Like Pelosi said, you have to pass it to see whats in it. Transparency? Where is Obamas school transcripts. You need to get away from MSNBC and Huff Post.
theryougo, your head is definitly in the sand or someplace else where the sun don't shine.
Elizabeth, Have you seen Obama's College Transcripts or his Thesis? Me neither, so much for transparency.
You do realize that by asking to see Obama's transcripts which is just grades not biography of effing life you not only show yourself to be a beck-style conspiracy cultist but also are saying Mitt is even more opaque so if the transcripts of every candidate because they are relevant for Obama appearently that just makes Romney even less transparent since he's not shown those either! Lol where do they dig your intellectuals up
And then there's the fact no one but Obama has been asked, that's called singled out not secrecy.
On Obamacare versions of the legislation were placed online before the passage otherwise did people know how many pages it was or that you american taliban folks "know" it had eil government take over? So basically you're saying no one could look at it thus the GOP who were warning of it's evils didn't know what was there? Next Pelosi's comment was meant to convey the fact that the GOP, who never asked to be part of the drafting of the legislation they were too busy whining, would have a campaign is total and often intentional dishonesty. Frankly it's true because as we've seen the more people know what it actually does that those provisions are hugely popular.

ROTFFL.
LOL
DemElizabeth is correct in saying that many Republicans are against our withdrawing from Afghanistan because military contracts to corporations involved with contractor work in Afghanistan will lose lots of money when we pull out. Some of those contractors make $100,000 per year to go to Afghanistan. My response is that we should have zero people in Afghanistan. After Bush neglected the war in Afghanistan to invade Iraq, Afghanistan's war went out of control. The bleak situation inherited by President Obama required some more augmentation of reinforcements to attempt to stabilize the war so we could build up the Afghan police and military so these Afghans can pull their own security for their own country.
Most Republicans don't understand modern military strategy or tactics in the 21st century. The U.S. military can stop a military threat like the Iraqi Army invading Kuwait in 1991 or we can stop the North Koreans and Chinese from invading South Korea in 1950. What we can not do is invade Iraq or invade North Korea and tell the people that live in those countries what kind of system they should have. The days of U.S. troops occupying a country and telling that country what system to have are long over with. VP Joe Biden believes in a counter-terror war with lots of drones and a few thousand Rangers and Special Forces troops on the ground. This type of approach is much better and more sustainable because the mission is clear: kill terrorists and eliminate al Qaida and the Haqanni terrorist networks and cells period. The problem is that Joe Biden was not President in 2001 George Bush was. Joe Biden is a hell of a lot smarter than George Bush ever was or will be.
Cynical, It appears you have completely forgotten about all that "Hope and Change". If you will recall Obama claimed Washington would not be business as usual in his Administration. Remember what he said about CSPAN? I don't call the closed door sessions responsible for developing Obamacare transparent. I also don't believe Obama's back door deals to send Tax Payer dollars to Mexico and Brazil for oil exploration and drilling to be transparent. Remember when Obama said there would be no lobbyist in the White House? I have yet to see any changes at all in the way Washington works under Obama. Obama pays off his cronies just as much as any of his predecessors if not more. I for one am ready for "Hope and Change", and it is coming in November.
2ez4u2c2..........
Remember it was Bush/Chenny administration that spent like a drunken sailor's and said that the debt didn't matter. The republicans boasted that they were the party of deregulation... deregulation that led to the housing bubble and all the predatory lending. Oh but the politicians and Wall Street loved how all the bubble fed credit let the middle class subsidize their stagnate wages. It kept this economy humming along.... But it was based on the quicksand of bubble fed credit, instead of a sound footing of consumers with money to spend based on living wage jobs.
Now someone has to pay for Bush's two wars, his gifts to the wealthy, and bailing out of the banks and the lost revenue from outsourcing jobs and hiding profits off shore, the bursting of the housing bubble.... What's their answer? It's to downsize the government... No, not reduce their salary's. They want retirees and seniors to foot the bill. You know the baby boomers who paid into the Social Security system for many years, while a smaller, older generation drew on it.. creating a surplus that the politicians quickly borrowed, leaving IOU's. Now that the boomers are retiring the politicians don't want to pay back their IOU's. They want to give the wealthy even more tax gifts... the "job creators". So they can create more jobs in China?
Trickle down economics doesn't work. It trickles down to China and has made them wealthy enough to buy our debt. The industries that created our middle class are now in China. Yes our middle class is shrinking and as it does so... so does demand for goods and services. Small business will also be hurt. This has been promoted by the republican agenda that caters to the wealthy at the top. They have cut the middle class out of the economic equation as they have found using slave labor to be so profitable for those at the top. It is all little more complicated then a one line sound bite.... But so very important. We in the middle class have to wake up and vote in our own best interests...... So I have to disagree with Republican agenda and any Democrate that wants to stick the shrinking middle class with the bill, but asks nothing of those who profited by gaming this out of balance system. We know the republicans are the ones standing in our way, Obamas way, just to regain control. Shame on them!
One other thing..... The republicans don't want to talk about the loss of income, (revenue), the government has sustained by their promotions of trade polices that encourage outsourcing good living wage jobs, offshore tax shelters, the failed scheme of deregulating the banking system allowing easy credit, leading to the housing bubble and crash. They created a big lose of revenue... But they now need to pay back the Social Security Trust-fund.... The "Entitlement" programs the baby boom generation paid into and now are "Entitled" to start drawing on. They don't want to pay up. They are willing to barrow even more money to give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires. What so they can create more jobs in China? Those who prospered by all the tax cuts, the policies that encouraged outsourcing good jobs so those top investors could reap the spoils from higher profit margins by cutting down the middle class should share the burden of cleaning up this economy and pay back to this country. Asking nothing of them is just wrong! Blaming "Entitlement" programs is just wrong! We know the agenda that got us here was brought on by the republicans. We know they have stood in the way of Obama, at every step made towards economic recovery. We know we can not let them take us back to the policy's that cut the middle class out of the economy and substituted allowing cheap credit for good paying jobs..... Just so those at the top of the economic food chain could prosper. We know the republicans have no answer.....
NO:: nobody remember that, and Sheryl you are (right on) i wish more people was up on the repubilicans lies and more lies>><<< but to show one BIG lie look at the DELEGATES that repersent this conutry from the repubilicans big tent party
Sheryl, You are correct about Bush spending, but you have completely removed all responsibility from the Democrats that held majorities in both the House and the Senate during the last few years of the Bush Administration. It is also true that the Housing Crisis started under the Bush Administration, but once again you excuse the Democrats that created the crisis by abolishing the Glass Steagull Act which enabled Bank to become speculators, and the Democrats that modified the Community Reinvestment Act which forced banks to give loans to less than qualified buyers. As for Bush's two wars, which were entered into with the approval of Congress, no war in our Nations History was ever paid for in advance. Every war has been paid for by the Administrations following the war, there is nothing new here.
If you think higher taxes on busniess and corporations will induce them to create jobs in the US, that is fine. I believe it will simply cause them to move out of the US. The majority of consumers are not found in the US any more, they are in China, India, and other overseas markets. If you were a Business person, cartering to these new markets, would you manufracture products here in the US where energy cost and labor costs are high, and then pay even more for transportation to get them to the comsumer? Lower taxes is the answer, not higher taxes.
2ez - She did not forget . The republicans controlled the house and senate starting with Clinton and ending in 2006 under Bush. We could have been a lot worse off. Please remember that the Republicans had total control for 6 years under bush and look what happened. That in itself should be reason enough for a total swing in control to see if the Democrats do better, and I for one think they will.
Obama<<>>RoberD007 - inherited a mess like it or not--------Clinton left Bush $350 million surplus while Bush along a repblicans congress<<>> left Obama 1.2 trillion deficit well, well, well how did that happen<<<>>>THIS is HOW <<<>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1.(Cut the taxs on the rich)---2.(More than 2 trillion on two unpaid wars)---3.(bailing out financial institions) aaaaaaand Now some people is trying to this country back to the early 2000s <<<<>> We not going for it
On top of all that BS--- 2ez4u2c >< our children are across the waters dying for these big companys such as BAIN a busness that own by Ronmey and its in China.
2ez.........
They should never have done away with the Banking Act of 1933, Glass-Steagall . Special interests have been attacking it for along time before Bush or Clinton.... But the Republicans have touted that they are the party of deregulation. Check it's history out.
This is a good start: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/wallstreet/weill/demise.html
The problems deregulating the banks would cause was foreseen:
http://billmoyers.com/segment/byron-dorgan-on-making-banks-play-by-the-rules/
When Bush came into office wanting to put the republican agenda in place... Tort reform, privatizing Social Security, changing capital gain laws, and deregulation were tops on their list. Having control of both houses... they got most of what they wanted.
Now, Bush wasn't able to get rid of Social Security by privatizing it. Another way to attack it would be to defund it..... Can't do that as long as you have a surplus. So he felt free to spend, spend, spend..... Wars.. Big Tax cuts... mostly to his wealthy friends. Then under the weight of all the deregulation, the Wall Street, Banking ponzi scheme blew up. Now they want to use the budget deficit as an opportunity to accomplish the rest of their Republican agenda which is to undo Social Security and Medicare. It will backfire on them.
It's going to take a lot longer then 2 to 4 years to fix the mess Bush made. He was an 8 year long disaster. Look at all the time they had with both houses in their control to run amuck. When the the Dems finally got the Senate, it was only by the slightest amount. Thank goodness for California as Enron, ( remember Enron), had California over a barrle. Bush refused to help, until the Senate majority went to the Democrates. The republicans were drunk with all the control they had. The Wall Street crocks new they had free sailing with their boy in office and the republicans in charge, deregulating every possible rule that was in big businesses way and what couldn't be deregulated for them was defunded. Cronies were placed in agencies that they didn't like. That is why it reminded me of a gangland take over of our government. The Texas Big Oil gang was in charge and now they let the Wall Street ponzi scheme leave it's mark around the world. Pour little countries like Iceland that believed in good old USA rating agency's when they rated an investment as AAA. They just weren't aware of the damage that had been done by the elite upper class in this country. That damage spread around the world..... So you tell me it can be fixed in 2 to 4 years by any one mere mortal...?
Yup, I think the world wide storm is still brewing... It's not over. It has nothing to do with what Obama has done. It has more to do with what he has been prevented from doing though..... You know the party of NO, that are willing to gamble with the USA's good name, and credit rating. The party that is willing to push Granny over the cliff, while gambling with this county's economic future... You know those Polititians that protect the interests of the elites at any risk to this countries well being.
Next time the Banks go down ... Who will save them? Keep watching. There is a bumpy road ahead..... and the republicans are doing everything wrong and not helping.
The Republicans don't want to raise one penny in taxes because they will be punished by lobbyist, Grover Norquist, as they signed his pledge to never vote to raise a single penny in tax.... no matter the consequence to our country. They, the Republicans, have their hands tied and are being blackmailed. They don't want tobe primaried or lose the support of big money interests who the lobbyist, God Father, Grover Norquist, represents by voting in a penny in tax increase.....
It is outrageous that a lobbyist, such as Grover Norquist, has that much power and that any politician would sign such a job debilitating pledge. It's even more outrageous that sworn legislators would allow such blackmail. It's like a mob boss threatening a business to pay them for "protection". Of course the signers of the Grover Norquist pay, GodFather, Grover Norquist by never voting in favor of a tax increase. He in turn will not use influence or money from his backers to primary or defeat that politician. ........ There should be a law against this!!!!!
The American people should not vote for anyone who signed the Grover Norquist pledge! Get the Republicans out of office and Grover Norquist looses his power over our government. We don't want a Monarchy, (king Norquist), or an oligarchy, (Corporate Elites).
By the way listen to what the big Wall Streeters are clamoring for..... It's more deregulation and smaller government! Taking down Glass-Steagall wasn't bad enough? The aftermath of deregulation crashed our economy. Guess who will do their bidding now? Next time the Banks go down ... Who will save them? Keep watching. There is a bumpy road ahead..... and the Republicans are doing everything wrong as they are still the party of deregulation and small impotent government.
We have a revenue problem.... Stop steeling from the Social Security Trust Fund! Those that have profited the most should be paying their share of Taxes!
Sheryl, The Democrats deregulated the Banks by abolishing the Glass Steagull Act and that was the most significant cause of the Housing Crisis. It was not done by Republicans. As for Bush's Administration, spending sky Rocketed during his last two years when Democrats controlled Congress (majorities in the House and Senate) and made the budgets. The blame for the spending under Bush rests on both the shoulders of Democrats and Republicans. If you think there is any difference between lobbyist in the White House under Democrats and Republicans you need to rethink your position. As I see it the only difference is Obama said it would not happen on his watch, but it did.
2ez.... Wrong
You should get to know these Republicans and how they affected the Glass-Steagall Act: Sen. Phil Gramm (R, Texas), Rep. Jim Leach (R, Iowa), and Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R, Virginia), the co-sponsors of the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gramm-Leach-Bliley_Act
I can list more links if need be.
By the way please note I believe that the congress, House and Senate, were controlled by Republicans under Clinton ....
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/08/19/712251/how-todd-akin-and-paul-ryan-partnered-to-redefine-rape/?mobile=nc
Although a version of this bill passed the GOP-controlled House, the "forcible rape" language was eventually removed due to widespread public outcry. Paul Ryan, however, believes that the "forcible rape" language does not actually go far enough to force women to carry their rapist's baby. Ryan believes that abortion should be illegal in all cases except for "cases in which a doctor deems an abortion necessary to save the mother's life." So rape survivors are out of luck.
And, of course, as we learned today, Akin isn't even sure that "legitimate" rape survivors can get pregnant in the first place.
In an update:
The Romney-Ryan campaign just released a statement distancing itself from the Akin-Ryan position on abortion in the case of rape: “Gov. Romney and Cong. Ryan disagree with Mr. Akin’s statement, and a Romney-Ryan administration would not oppose abortion in instances of rape.”
********
too little too late, and akins still remains ignorant.
The GOP pushed for the repeal of the 1932 Glass-Steagall Act by the 1999 Graham-Leach-Bliley act. Sure President Clinton signed this ill fated bill into law but the GOP sponsored the Graham-Leach-Bliley Act and kept pushing this poison pill for years. The larger issue here is that the Federal Reserve had to put up $16 trillion worth of loan guarantees in order to keep another deep depression from happening. Next time we may not be so lucky. The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission report says that the 2008 Great Recession was caused by the failure to keep big Wall Street investment banks regulated and separated from commercial banks on Main Street. When the big Wall Street bundled mortgaged backed securities, leveraged $30 to $1 or more, went bust with the real estate market the whole financial sector of the United States was threatened unless the Federal Reserve took up $16 trillion worth loan guarantees. The sad part is that the Big Wall Street investment banks are continuing on with their reckless speculative schemes because big profits are all that matter then when they go bust we the taxpayers of America get to have their bailout bills. But when this happens again will the Federal Reserve have all its powder to save us from another Great Depression II? You tell me? Canada kept its banks regulated and no Canadian taxpayers had to bailout Canadian banks. I guess Canadians are much smarter than American conservatives out for quick money.
Sheryl, I forgot that if a Democrat President signs a bill into law, he is not responsible for it, the blame goes to the Republicans in Congress. When of course on the other hand if a Republican signs a bill into law, he and he alone is responsible. I guess the modifications to the Community Reinvestment Act drafted by Dodd and Frank and signed into law by Clinton was also a Republican effort and as such their fault as well.
Rex in Minnesota..... So very well said. Thank you.
Watching all the changes, jobs going overseas, deregulations unfold over the past 30 years is so disappointing on an economic level. We have made such strides in science and technology.... You would think we would have learned something from the 1929, Great Depression. Wish the Republicans would work with Obama and for the people. Tell Grover Norquist they won't sign a pledge that hinders their ability to act in the interests of Americans.
I saw "2016: Obama's America" this past weekend. It was predictably a pretty right-wing perspective on Obama, but I thought it was very well done and made a lot of points that even those on the left should hear and consider.
I sat through every one of Michael Moore's documentaries. Some of them I liked, some I thought were utter crap. But I watched them in an effort to understand the left's positions from one of their loudest mouthpieces, and see where perhaps there was common ground. I challenge the lefties here to do the same and go see "2016: Obama's America". If nothing else, you'll be able to sharpen your arguments in defense of the President and better understand the mindset that many on the right have regarding the man. It's a well made movie and worth seeing, regardless of your political persuasion.
Ah no who in their right mind will sit through an hour of GOP political advertisements and conspiracies as that is all your movie is. To compare it to what Moore produces just shows how delusional you are.
2016 Obama's America.......No Thank You.
Why would our heads explode over Glen Beck conspiracy nonsense and 40 year old GOP talking points that every election cycle the GOP drags out and attaches new names to the same old GOP fear and hate speech. Unlike you poor conservatives who get all weepy over biological goo that you mislabel as a baby, liberals as well as left leaning people do not hide under our beds wetting ourselves in fear of make believe boogeymen. That you have those personal failings we don't, like FDR said "you have nothing to fear but fear itself", boy do you conservatives prove that daily. Talk big and run away and hide, the GOP motto.
Saw it , nothing important was revealed in the film that most of us wanted to know about. Maybe the right should seek more truth.
Where is the film version of romney's america 2016.....we would all be freaking out!
Box office buzz around the movie may be tied to the upcoming Republican National Convention, which begins Monday in Tampa, Fla. The documentary expected to bow down with a total earning of $6 million for the weekend.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/movies/2016-obamas-america,1230760/critic-review.html
“I’m not trying to bash Obama in a crude way,” Dinesh D’Souza says in a TV
news clip featured in the conservative writer and commentator’s new documentary
“2016: Obama’s America.” It’s a comment recycled from one of D’Souza’s many
media appearances in defense of his well-known, earlier attacks on the
president, both in a controversial 2010 Forbes magazine cover story and two
subsequent books, on which this film is based.
One thing can be said for “2016.” It’s anything but crude. The best
infomercials rarely are.
And, make no mistake, D’Souza’s documentary profile of President Obama --
which is like his earlier writing attempts to portray its subject as not just
anti-capitalist but anti-American -- is just that: a slick infomercial. As these
things go, the movie seems destined to irritate the president’s supporters while
mobilizing his detractors, even as it is doomed to win precious few converts.
It’s a textbook example of preaching to the choir.
D’Souza, who narrates the film with the buttery
smoothness of a therapist, intersperses talking-head interviews with footage of
himself poring over Obama’s memoir “Dreams from My Father,” like a psychological
detective, while visiting Indonesia, Hawaii and Kenya. As readers of the Forbes
article know, the central thesis of “2016” is that Obama’s worldview -- his
“compass,” as D’Souza calls it -- was largely shaped by the anti-colonialist,
anti-white and anti-Christian politics of Obama’s supposedly radical Kenyan
father. Never mind that Obama, growing up, spent precious little time with the
man, who for most of his son’s early life was estranged from Obama’s mother.
D’Souza trots out a professional psychologist to speculate on how the senior
Obama’s absence reinforced his influence, rather than weakened it.
D’Souza makes it all sound almost plausible, but only if you’re predisposed
to believe that Obama hates America. It’s bashing, all right, but with a
velvet-gloved fist.
Why is the film called “2016”? D’Souza’s one-sided argument ultimately stoops
to fear-mongering of the worst kind, stating in no uncertain terms that, if the
president is reelected, the world four years from now will be darkened by the
clouds of economic collapse, World War III (thanks to the wholesale renunciation
of our nuclear superiority) and a terrifyingly ascendant new “United States of
Islam” in the Middle East. These assertions are accompanied by footage of actual
dark clouds and horror-movie music.
The real bogeyman isn’t Obama, who D’Souza acknowledges can come across as an
appealing and charismatic leader. That honor is shared by several men D’Souza
refers to as Obama’s “founding fathers,” in an unsubtle dig at the president’s
patriotism. It’s a group that includes communist Frank Marshall Davis; former
Weather Underground member Bill Ayers; academic Edward Said, whose views are
described as anti-Zionist; liberal Harvard professor Roberto Unger; and the Rev.
Jeremiah Wright, a proponent of so-called black liberation theology.
None of the names of these putative villains is
new, which gives “2016” the air of a “Nightmare on Elm Street” sequel, pandering to the
franchise’s hard-core fans, while boring everyone else.
I saw it and honestly have heard it all before. It is interesting that the Father of the President was a drunk that killed some one in a Drunk Driving traffic accident and then killed himself in another one. That may explain why Obama built a Brewery in the White House, alcoholism tends to run in families.

WOW! you seem to be spewing every point and lie that FOX news comes up with. I can also see that you don't have a clue on anything that you have said in this blog. Try to find another news source, AND BECOME EDUCATED! You are showing your ignorance BIGTIME!
Voter, I don't know about Fox Talking Points, but here are a few of my concerns about Obama. 1) Under Obama we have had nearly 4 years of Unemployment above 8%. 2) Obama said if the Stimulus was passed the Unemployment Rate would not exceed 8%. 3) The Stimulus intended to create jobs such as "Shovel Ready" infrastructure projects went to Tax Cuts and to shore up Public Sector Unions. 4) Obama has all but shut down oil drilling on both the east and west coasts, on Federal lands in Alaska, and reduced the supply of oil from the Gulf, while at the same time he has sent billions to Mexico and Brazil to support their oil production. 5) Obama has attacked every aspect of the coal business, while giving billions to failed so called Green Energy Companies, (Solyndra, Beacon, ERN-1, Sunpower). 6) Obama gave billions to the UAW in the Chrysler and GM bailout, the Tax Payers are still on the hook for 25 million and GM has sent 400 million to France and will send 1 billion to Australia over the next ten years. The Auto Bailout did more for France and Australia than it did for the Tax Payers that funded it. And my issues with Obama go on and on. You may support his transfere of American wealth to other countries, I do not. You may support his Tax Payer funded support for the Unions, I do not. The fact we disagee doesn't make either one of us uneducated or uninformed.
2ez... Now you should know how important it is for us to vote the Republicans out of our way to the recovery from their mess. We want the party of No out of Obama's way. They have NO answers to the problems, they caused.
Sheryl, Perhaps one day you will understand that Democrats as well as Republicans are responsible for the situation we find our country in. Remember, a Republican President didn't cut 716 Billion from Medicare, Obama did. A Republican President didn't cut Pay Roll Taxes that support Social Security and Medicare, Obama did. A Republican President didn't extend the Bush Tax Cuts, Obama did. A Republican president didn't suspend oil drill in the Gulf, Obama did. A Republican President didn't send billions in Tax Dollars to Mexico and Brazil, Obama did. A Republican President didn't maintain an Unemployment Rate over 8% for four years, Obama did.
Again the Left is afraid of what Republicans may do, while they ignore Obama actually doing it.
A republican president didn't cut 700 billion from medicare nor did a democratic president. Obamacarre reforms save 700 billion which is used to add more years of solvency to the program. Obama is "stealing" from medicare to give to medicare...??....the GOP is lying its ass off on that one
www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/15/stephanie-cutter/ryans-plan-includes-700-billion-medicare-cuts-says/
cbo.gov/publication/43471
Now we know you're beliefs are impervious to truth and reality but just for anyone else out there....read up.....
The Ryan plan raids medicare and makes no reforms to it. The Ryan plan will have seniors having to pay more because of vouchers that will decrease in value as people get older. This is not to help anything it is to pay for a ridiculous reaganomic tax plan ie tax cuts for the rich. They're not raiding it because they care they're doing it because they know extending the bush tax cuts permanately costs a ton.
Before you make false attacks justify how the Ryan plan makes the same cuts that you accuse, falsely, Obama is making? The Ryan plan has the same "cuts"
So you support a middle class increase. Not even the congressional republicans wanted that. Extending payroll taxes was a correct and bipartisan measure that almost didn't happen because of teavangelicals. Remember you're republican and you guys hate all taxes everywhere.....you should be happy
Glad to see you acknowledge that when you people say Obama has raised taxes that your full of sinunu
A republican president didn't face the largest man made environmental disaster in American history. A republican president did however influence this because of deregulation and a management agency that did no regulating yet still got our money in taxes. Gulf oil spill, yes you did build that alright..lol.....domestic oil production is up and drilling in the gulf continues. The Obama administration has issued a sizable and perhaps in my opinion irresponsible permits for drilling in the gulf than there was before. Guess when we have a huge disaster we shouldn't slow down and think about what happend so we can prevent it in the future. Thousands of dead animals and 11 humans killed. Months of leaking oil because of a faulty and untested haliburton blow out preventer that utterly failed. Millions in fishing lost, some areas are still not cleared for fishing because of the oil which BP had no responsible plan to clean up so government had to do it for them. so not only are they fracking us left and right, their fracking our pocket books, their fracking our water supply with diesel fuel.......
If this did happen prove it with facts I doubt this is true however there is something called a loan.......it where they back you back later with interest. Really let Brazil and Mexico do it with these loans and we as a condidtion force them to sell it for a price of our choosing. It also helps since when another BP happens we won't have to clean it up....what's not to love......
A republican president did sell weapons to Iran and Saddam Husein though
CynicalCitizen...... Well said. Thank you.
These Republicans are going to try and fool voters into voting against their own best interests. It's so shameful.
It's such a LIE when they claim that they want to save Social Security and Medicare. They want us to believe they care about the budget and debt. The truth is they want less revenue, and want to cut vital programs to match a smaller revenue stream.
They are the ones not telling the people the truth. Bush squandered the surplus he inherited, which should have been used to pay back the IOU's in the Social Security Trust Fund.
The truth is we have an income problem.... We have a political party, the Republican party, that is rigged, unable to do their job because they are dependent on and owned by and scared of powerful special interests.
Cynical, Interesting way of putting Obama's 716 billion dollar cut to Medicare. Let me ask you these very simple questions. Under Obama will funding for Medicare be cut by 716 Billion or not? Will Obama continue to not only maintain current spending but ensure annual increases in funding for Medicare are maintained?
The question is not do you support a tax increase to the Middle Class, it is did you support Obama's gutting of Social Security and Medicare funding by reducing Pay Roll Taxes? And the answer to that question is "NO", the programs are already in danger because of projected funding shortfalls. Cutting the lone source of funding for them only shorten the programs life expectancy.
It appears you agree they are now Obama's Tax Cuts, not Bush's Tax Cuts. I acknowledge Obama has reduced Pay Roll taxes and that his economic policies have resulted in 50% of the population not paying Federal Income Tax, but that is not to say he has not increased taxes. Obama's energy policies alone have caused every one to pay more taxes. The price of fuel has increased the cost of transportation, increased the cost of food, increased the cost of clothing, and increased the cost of every other product a citizen purchases. We pay State and Local sales taxes on nearly every thing we purchase. So if the question is Did Obama directly increase our Taxes, the answer is "NO". If the question is Did Obama indirectly increase Taxes the answer is "YES".
Cynical there are fewer wells and they are producing less oil in the Gulfnow than before the spill. I would honestly have no issue with Obama's policies on oil and coal if Democrats would simply stop using the energy that results from coal and oil. Let them use all that green energy produced from the products manufractured by Solyndra, Beacon, and ERN-1. They rest of us could get by just fine with energy produced by coal and oil.
I see we can't drill new oil wellsin the Gulf, but Mexico can with funding from the US government Export-Import Bank. And a loan is a loan, and we get paid back with interest. Right, like the billions in loans to Solyndra, Beacon, and ENR-1. When will those loans be paid back and how much will the Tax Payers get back on their investments? How about GM and Chrysler? When we get our money back from them?
Well, there are cuts and then there are CUTS. Neither Obama nor his health care law literally "cut" a dollar from the Medicare program’s budget.
Rather, the health care law instituted a number of changes to reduce the growth of Medicare costs. At the time the law was passed, those reductions amounted to $500 billion over the next 10 years.
www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/15/stephanie-cutter/ryans-plan-includes-700-billion-medicare-cuts-says/
CBO says:
The ACA also includes a number of other provisions related to health care that are estimated to reduce net federal outlays (primarily for Medicare). By repealing those provisions, H.R. 6079 would icrease other direct spending in the next decade by an estimated 711 billion

Facts are that oil production here at home are up. Any politician who tells you they can control gas prices is lying...according to Bill O'Reilly. What legal power does any president have to determine gas prices? Anyone who thinks Obama has increased them is lying, he has no control over them. Anyone who said Bush did is also lying. Like it or not there has been an increase in production and no real decrease in price. There is little to no causation to be found. Consider that oil companies could reduce the price per barrel as we speak and still make sizable profits so the idea that more oil will lower prices i America is not true. These companies get to do whatever they want with it they can sell it wherever they choose we don't have that much decision power. More importantly even if it was so contrlled by supply and demand no new drilling sites would produce ay oil for several years probably only after a first term or even towards the end of a second, point is there would be no immediate increase in supply to begin with. You can't put a bendy straw in the ground out have oil pop out.....well maybe if you're Harry Potter but in the real world that's not exactly how it works.
On deepwater drilling go ahead and fill me in on how long it took to close the deep water horizon line.......and what did BP first say aboout how they could handle it.....how did it really take? You do realize that they had no idea how to close it, that's something that they logically and legally should know. This spill proves this company didn't. Go and look back at the last set of major spills and how they were cleaned up, look at what they used. Then look at BP decades later using the same things that we back then knew weren't that great. This whole belief on the right that we should just allow gas companies to screw up and break regulatons and law is crazy. Fact is that this is an industry which has failed to self regulate every time we see the same causes for these major spills, we see the same outdated technology and we never force them to do anything about it. Never.
So the idea that we should hold these companies accountable for following the actual pre-existing reasonable regulations and all regulation for that matter they don't get to pick which ones they do or don't like.........and expect them to have a real plan to clean up messes before they make them is not that crazy. Is it too much to ask them to know how to fix things before they break them? Gosh didn't know that was a controversial expectation.
Raising taxes would have hurt the job creatos and thus the economy. That means the middle class who would have had their taxes raised and the GOP was intent o making that happen if they hadn't got what they wanted. More importantly actually it's the house of representatives that controls tax policy....but who cares about that.......
And oil companies get plenty in breaks and subsidies they don't need.....so yeah how sad for them that they should have to know how to clean up their messes before they make them..so unfair.
Like it or not green energy is the future and the GOP has long supported in the past so it's not pagan idea love the re-write you people have attempted.
Cynical, Perhaps you will answer these questions.
1) Do Pay Roll Taxes fund Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Benefits?
2) Is there a scheduled increase in Pay Roll Tax, other than the termination of Obama's Pay Roll Tax reduction when it expires?
3) Are Pay Roll Taxes currently used to fund Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Benefits going to be diverted from those programs to fund Obamacare?
4) If Pay Roll Tax funding is diverted from Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Benefits to Obamacare, will there not be less funding for those programs?
5) Does less funding in support of a Federal Program not equate to a Funding Cut?
If the President and his policies have no impact on the cost of energy, I have to ask why Obama said our energy costs would necessarily rocket? Government Policies affect product availability and supply but they do not affect price, really. If the Government restricted all new drilling in the US and then stopped all imports of oil, what do you think would happen to the price of gas? I don't believe the President can control or set the price of gas, but I do believe his policies do in deed affect the price of gas. And as far as oil production being up in the US, that is only because Obama could not control or prevent new drilling on private and state property.
Lastly on Green Energy, under Obama it has been one rip off scam after another. Remember your comment about loans, we get our money back plus interest? How much are we getting back from Solyndra, Beacon, and ENR-1? The answer would be $0 on the billion loaned to them. Reminds me of the Housing Crisis. The Government forces banks to loan money to people that couldn't afford them and then the Tax Payer ends up holding the bag.
So when are you going to start a movement on the Left to get them to stop using energy produced by oil and coal? The rest of us would really appreciate it. And yes the costs would go down significantly as 20% of the population turns to Green Energy, lol.
The payroll tax issues are irrelavent to the medicare discussion because the issue of revenue is not the point in the CBO projections which had you read them you'd know that. Thiat's twice I've shown you and twice you've failed. Lets go for a third the 711 billion is not the result of any changes in revenue via payroll taxes or any other means.
www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/43471-hr6079.pdf
Give it a read so you can understand what I'm talking about
www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2012/aug/20/mitt-romney/romney-says-obama-cuts-716-medicare-pay-obamacare/
The savings, and it is savings not a "cut" in the most common sense is not generated directly by any change to revenues. Let's see, let's see if you can grasp this if I spend 500 a month on cable and there is another company that offers service for 400 a month. The benefits and the packages are the same, so I switch to the 400 a month plan....did I make cuts to my cable budget? No not really cuts implies a change in the level of service and that is not what is going on I am saving a 100 not getting 100 less in cable service.
This whole belief you have that Obamacare is a program in the first place is so soooooo laughable. So tell us what is this obamacare entitlement 'cuz no one is going to be given anything in health insurance, no one is given anything from the state there is no state insurance system being created. Why don't you read the documents from the CBO for once and then come back and try to talk about this. I can not do if for you. All that math you think I don't understand is already been done that's where these numbers come from......these aren't entirely unfinished hypotheticals
On drilling it doesn't matter what you want to pretend Obama did or did not do the drilling is still happening whether Obama or Mickey Mouse is president is irrelavent. Production is up you can't deny that, prices have gone up too so clearly the amount be produced isn't at the core of the changes in price. You are claiming it is. You can play the what if game...if government ended all exports and import etc.....it doesn't matter because that hasn't happend.
On loans how much will we get back from Romney's olympics......fact is businesses fail that's the point of subsidies in the first place. Failure however doesn't mean one should not try in the first place now does it? You can play fact outrage over Solyndra but what about the money oil companies recieved you can't possibly argue they need it.....is that not waste. According to you I guess not. On the banks if they hadn't gambled those away things would have been different.......that's why we need glass steagal back
Never because I don't care I just think these companies should be able to clean up their messes before they make if they are going to drill which many of them don't. Apparently that's not important to you either. Like I said don't think it's unreasonable to expect these companies to be able to clean up the spills they make before they make them. You guys like to cry about how tough it is for il companies but really that's all bull@!$%# since they get away with things no other industry gets away with. Oil gets plenty of special treatment yet you people still whine and expect us to feel sorry for them.
Cynical, The truth is there is no projected increase in Pay Roll Taxes and that Obamacare will be taking some of the limited funds from Pay Roll Taxes. That very simply means less funding will be available for Medicare, in other words a "Cut".
You are the one that said the Obama has no control over gas prices, when in all actuality his policies do indirectly affect them. The "What If" question you would not answer, very clearly illustrates my point. You can continue to pretend Federal Policies do not affect the price of a product or service, but you would continue to be wrong. Obama's restrictions on drilling on both coasts, the Gulf, on federal lands in Alaska and else where has in deed affected the price of gas.
Also I don't believe Oil Companies should receive subsidies for conducting their busniess any more than I believe a Farmer should. Nor do I believe subsidies should be given to a citizen for buying a new car.
Keep lying.......didn't work the first time you made that up doesn't work now. It is clear you have no interest in actually reading anything I've discuessed, you are convinced that Obama is killing medicare and no amount of objective reality will change that. But in the real world not your imagination it's still not true.
www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2012/aug/20/mitt-romney/romney-says-obama-cuts-716-medicare-pay-obamacare/
Neither Obama nor his health care law literally cut funding from the Medicare program’s budget. Rather, the health care law instituted a number of changes to try to bring down future health care costs in the program.
If you'd read the link you'd know that. Payroll taxes do not matter since there is no change in revenue that is not factored into the CBO analysis. Another thing you decided not to read. The revenue changes in the ACA are not responsible for the 700 billion, they are unrelated. The law pays for itself and adds changes to medicare which saves money. What you don't want to understand is that there is no increase nor decrease in payroll taxes that create this 700 billion. Spending is changing.
Apparently you believe that if I go to the market and buy 10 apples for $10 that I would be cutting my money if I bought 10 of those very same apples for $7. I guess that would mean I'm have less money someone instead of just saving $3. Don't know what's so hard to understand about that, go back to math class.
You claimed Obama is making 700 billion in cuts to medicare and to justify your bogus thoroughly debunked claim you've invented this idea that this can only happen if payroll taxes are increased by 700 billion. Well guess what it's called efficiency, heard of it? You're entire argument is predicated on the idea that there are no changes that can ever be made to medicare, you believe nothing about it or related to it can be changed.
It's clear no amount of facts will convince you otherwise.
the money funding medicare doesn't increase to have savings the amount spent is what does that. You believe that if you buy the off brand instead of the label brand which is the same product that you believe that is cuts to the amount of product. Just because it is cheaper does not mean it's a different or inferior product.
and by the way the ryan plan uses the same saving to finance tax cuts for the rich....Obama "raids" medicare to give to medicare....Romney/Ryan raids medicare to give to tax cuts for people who don't need them
Obama and fellow Democrats say the intention is to protect beneficiaries' coverage while forcing health care providers to become more efficient
We should point out that the overall Medicare budget is projected to go up for the foreseeable future, even with the health care law’s cost-saving measures. The law tries to limit the program’s growth, though, making it less than it would have been without the law, but not reducing its overall budget.
In this instance, Romney’s claim gives the impression that the law takes money that was already allocated to Medicare and funds the new health care law with it.
In fact, the law uses a number of measures to try to reduce the rapid growth of future Medicare spending. Those savings are then used to offset costs created by the law -- especially coverage for the uninsured -- so that the overall law doesn't add to the deficit. We rate his statement Half True.
Note the half false part is the idea that these are cuts not saving. But you will believe what you choose. Just be sure to ask Romney/Ryan why there budget has the same savings
Keep lying about oil drilling. Truth is the raise in price is not primarily caused by government if you believe so tell us how a president can instatnly lower or control prices with their policies....you must want to bring in price controls like Nixon....
Simple. Is domestic production up or not right now under Obama? I don't care whether you think he hates oil or whatever.....I don't give a damn about what you've magically read his mind to know what he wants......is it up or not doesn't matter whether it's because or inspite of him as that does not change how much has been produced. You claim Obama's polices control prices, you are wrong and if you contest that you must name what policies do that. Drilling off either coast is not one of those things since that can't even under your logic have affect on price until they actually start producing. How long will it take to set up those rigs? Simple question....a month, days or years.......very soon or a while down the road? Pick one you get one answer to make up with some bogus claim about.

But if Obama had given a green light to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, would gas prices be lower today? Not according to the evidence we reviewed.

Cynical, Its more like taking $10.00 from your neighbors to buy them 10 apples and then buying 7 apples for them, and buying three oranges to give to people on the other side of town. People have been compelled to pay Pay Roll Taxes for the purposes of paying for Medicare and Social Security. If savings to Medicare are achieved shouldn't those savings be given back to the people that it was taken from? If the cost of the program goes down, is it not reasonable to expect the Pay Roll Tax that supports that Program to go down? The bottom line regardless of how you spin it funds collected specifically for Medicare and being spent on Obamacare. Medicare funding is being Cut by Obama.

Like the majority of Americans,
I wonder when Gov. Mitt Romney is going to release his income tax and when
Congress will follow hearing from no paying taxes in 10 years. I read today in the new that Gov. Romney owns

equivalent to 35% and cheated the system by using dividend.

What is legitimate rape? I'm still trying to figure that out, maybe the ones who did the 2016: Obama's America can do something explaining what legitimate rape is.
It is an old conservative dog whistle going back centuries that claims women can't get pregnant unless they orgasm, the GOP are stuck in dark age thinking at its best. A legitimate rape is where a woman has to be beaten to within an inch of her life to show she fought off her rapist, if a woman gets pregnant or has no signs of injuries she wasn't raped.
It's all a dodge to outlaw *all* abortions for any reasons.
See if a "legitimate rape" doesn't cause pregnancy then there is no reason to make exceptions for rape in any anti-abortion laws.
If you get pregnant from being raped, you obviously "wanted it" or you wouldn't have gotten pregnant! So if you got pregnant then it wasn't a "legitimate rape" and if you want an abortion it's just because you are a slut.
See that's the GOP position on Women in a nutshell.
btw, this also seem to be their position on statutory rape and incest. And of course "spousal rape" which can't happen because, after all, wives are supposed to submit to their husbands in all things.
legitimate rape is when she is shouting no, no, no, but you are so sure you are irresistible, you ignore her. Right? Or is that just how the Right sees it?
LOL TM I once dated a woman who had elliptic seizures when she had an orgasm, now if you have never dealt with a person who had seizures you wouldn't know that their brain has to reboot and during that rebooting everything leading up to the seizure goes blank. Nothing like hearing who are you and why am I naked to get your heart racing the first few times. Talk about building trust issues, I'm lucky that she took my word instead of dialing 911, lol.
Hey Priebus..................your statements about President Obama are completely false....and do not speculate about the "American People". I - the American People- are very happy with President Obama - in fact he has been way to nice to the republicans in Congress..............Enthusiastically supporting his re-election for President.
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD FOUR MORE YEARS !
Good. That's exactly what needs to happen.
Ed. Priebus said Akin's remarks were "biologically stupid".
He did not say Tood Akin was "biologically stupid'.
That is how you twist things around and just plain out lie. Stop it!
Ugh??????????? What's that Johnny? Did you just say Todd Akin was biologically stupid?
Can't you ready Lizzie? Where do you get that in what I wrote. Are you on your mommies computer again?
I meant...Can't you read?
I wouldn't be too proud of defending a moron like 'Hurricane Todd' if I were you Johnny. I mean, consider his mental disorder and all..
I question your numbers...............state your source.......... Intellectuals for Obama..............
If republicans were truly concerned for the unborn, they would make sure we had birth control available at no cost to all women that went to their doctor and asked for them.
But ......low and behold............republicans are even against birth control!!!!!!!!!!!Amazing!
Lets's start attacking the sperm donors and arresting them! Do a DNA on every aborted fetus and arrest the sperm donor! How's that for fairness? It takes two to create a fetus, but only the woman is punished............time to change that sad fact.
Obama/Biden 2012
Now, let's see............how much is the Viagra............oh, that's right it is always covered by insurance................
Without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school. For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, that’s practically an entire summer’s salary. Forty percent of female students at Georgetown Law report struggling financially as a result of this policy. One told us of how embarrassed and powerless she felt when she was standing at the pharmacy counter, learning for the first time that contraception wasn’t covered, and had to walk away because she couldn’t afford it. Women like her have no choice but to go without contraception. Just last week, a married female student told me she had to stop using contraception because she couldn’t afford it any longer. Women employed in low wage jobs without contraceptive coverage face the same choice.
"Wouldn't give a condom................" That is the hateful language of someone who has never read a Bible, much less professed faith. I thought all you "conservatives" believed in God...............I was definitely wrong.
Republicans are a Godless, hateful, spiteful, arrogant lot of vile vipers!
Obama/Biden 2012
First, Viagra is not always covered by insurance...just like women's birth control has different levels of coverage depending on your insurance company and plan.
Second, I have no sympathy for someone like Democratic tool Sandra Fluke who chooses to go to a private, Jesuit institution like Georgetown, knows their policy and then complains about that policy. If birth control coverage was so important to her and her friends why did they go there?
I also don't think giving away "free" stuff, like birth control for example, to irresponsible adults is sound policy and solves any problems.
Democrats want you to stay out of their bedroom and their bodies, unless of course it is forcing you to pay for their birth control and abortions.
DemElizabeth is correct in pointing out that birth control, family planning, and other reproductive health care for women should be covered free of charge to them by insurance companies or the government. Conservatives are totally ignorant about this issue. In the 21st century women in Europe go to their family care provider or clinic and they get any type of birth control they want or need. I thought this is why we had a country and paid taxes to the government. If you respect women at all as your wife, daughter, neighbor, teacher, boss, friend, or colleague you need to support family planning and birth control for them period.
Women have a right to have relationships with men without being condemned or judged for the resulting reproductive health care needs resulting from these relationships. The only decent and fair way to be respectful of women is for society to provide women with free clinical care so that their reproductive health care needs are taken care of. These types of services do not cost huge amounts of money and take a load of stress off of women who are in college, job training, or working important jobs in our society. Treating women like doormats, like the conservatives do, will only make it easier for the BRIC's and Asian-Pacific rim countries to pull ahead of us. Women are serving in the military in record numbers in combat zones. Is any one saying these women veterans are not supposed to have access to free family planning and birth control programs? All women need these reproductive health programs and those who do not understand this are just treating women like doormats in a patriarchal society that does not exist anymore.
Actually, the role of the government and why the American taypayer pays to finance that government, is not and was never intended to, pay for "free" birth control and other family planning services.
Who are you to say what the government was intended for when you are totally clueless as to what government is or does for that matter. All you have are the insane rantings of a delusional 3rd rate actor. If government is so bad then why are people like the Koch brothers trying to buy government.
Whom, I am surprised you were able to respond - I thought you did other things than pathetically patrol this blog all day. Anyway, thanks for the laugh - I always enjoy your senseless responses. In fact, tell me all about what government is as does? I would love to hear it!
My mistake, I meant to say *is and does.* I am so excited to hear your response I can't even type!
Loose Nut, it beats watching Fake news all day like you 'intellectuals' do, then come here and makes fools of yourselves. I mean it's very entertaining and all but damn!
Another thing I didn't expect, a lame Fox News joke...
Apparently idiotic statements aren't exclusive to the Republican candidates...I wonder how long it will be before the radical left will come up with an attempt to justify this comment by one of their own..

Just lying some more capt re reg. Spin capt re reg spin.
What a pile of BS Stormless.............. The candidate is an immigrant and has never held a public office. Just because he is running against the incumbent democrat, doesn't mean he is a democrat.
That all you got? ...........................pitiful!
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD ~ FOUR MORE YEARS!
DumElizabeth...
Unlike you idiot liberals, I actually don;t believe that a single person represents an entire party. However, it sure was fun to point it out like you guys do...

Then why did you go to the trouble to post the link if you don't believe a single person represents a party..............Stormless and Shameful ?
Just lie after lie - just like Romney...........lair, liar, liar!
DumEliz...
if you had read all of post 13.3, you would have seen the reason...it was fun pointing it out like you guys do...
good try...but no lie. those only come from radical lefties like Obama, Biden, Reid, et al. Well...I guess they come from all Democrats...

That is the best you have capt re reg a typo and that is all the proof you need to pretend fake outrage. Really capt re reg your lame attempts at making up fake outrage is laughable ans well as childish. Apples to oranges re reg, again you lie to try to cover up your lack of understanding what the definition of misspeaking is.
Stormtrooper is full of 'outrage', or he's full of someth'in. But most drama queens usually are...
Just say'in
This ought to be really good....what exactly in my post above is a lie whom?
PUT UP OR STFU...your choice

Just because you seem to have troubles understanding the definitions of words is clear capt re reg. Misspeak is when your words get ahead of your thinking, such as Obama saying 57 states or robme hood introducing Ryan as the next president of the United States, those are examples of misspeak. Akins on the other hand actually believes women can shut down their reproductive organs when they are raped, that is not misspeaking. Akins never claimed he misspoke it was just a bad choice of him using the word legitimate rape, not that he was wrong on what he said.
and what does any of that have to do with you proving anything I have said is a lie...

Whomitmay: Stormguy picks an obscure guy running for a primary election in NYC in a council race that only local people are concerned about. Stormguy is generally sort of belligerent and has probably been assigned here to disrupt like most RNC trolls. All women deserve to have an abortion after suffering rape, incest, or if their health is in danger. Its not a GOP issue, its a medical issue to be decided by a doctor, nurse, and those trained to help women in these tough situations like social workers. GOP politicians have no right to decide any of these things for anyone anywhere but they try to pretend they have the right to take away civil liberties of women.
Mr. Akins is the GOP candidate running for U.S. Senate in Missouri. Mr. Akins has been in public life for many years and knows about the press, TV coverage, and newspaper reporters. The larger issue of course is that the GOP/Tea Party is outright hostile to women's reproductive health care needs. Who do Republicans think they still have a right to tell women what rights they have about their reproductive health care needs or access to abortion. All of these questions are for trained doctors and nurses to help a woman make a decision about what she needs done with her own body. No man has a right to tell a woman that she can or can not do anything with her own body. Yet here we are in the 21st century dealing right winged Christian idiots who only care about a fetus but the hell with paying anything to help a baby once its in the world like decent public schools, health care, food stamps, or anything else needed to raise a child to become a productive adult. If you tell a conservative that you are going to raise their taxes so we can pay for a welfare mother with three kids, they almost become apoplectic. At the same time those same conservatives do not want to pay to support much cheaper and cost effective family planning, birth control, and abortion services for women when they need these types of services. The conservative's hypocrisy here is glowing like an amber from a hot fire.
Rex...On more than one occasion this blog has done the exact same thing with people who are low level local officials running for office.
The hypocrisy is all on the liberals when they finally have to taste some of their own medicine...
too bad...it sucks being a Democrat
just saying...
capt re reg here is your first clue, how do you spell Hypocrisy ..................... R-E-P-U-B-L-I-C-A-N. Really capt re reg it is rather tiring how you GOP supporters just can't grasp that it is the GOP that claims to be morally superior to everyone else yet its the GOP that keep getting caught in immoral acts 10 to 1. That you can't grasp the definition of hypocrite is your personal failing and comes from an ignorance of word usage. A person who does not claim to be morally superior then others isn't being a hypocrite when he gets caught in an immoral act. The Hypocrite is David Vitter who claimed to be a fine upstanding family values type guy who is then caught paying hookers to change his diapers. But then you are just distracting from the fact that Akins did not misspeak.
Stormguy: You just don't get it do you? I thought we were talking about the Senate race in Missouri and Mr. Akin's comments about rape victims access to abortions? Excuse me Mr. Big Mouth. What is going to suck for you conservatives are all those battle ground states that have large numbers of independent women who will not even think of voting for the Romney/Ryan ticket after the GOP's vicious war on women. The economy is important to women but reproductive health care is a deep and visceral issue for women voters. Women I talked too, get furious over this issue and the anger is directed at right winged conservatives. It could well have lost the election because Romney/Ryan are not getting you message out because this idiot in Missouri says that women are not supposed to get an abortion even if they suffer from rape, incest, statutory rape, or the life and health of the mother is threatened. So you guys need to enjoy your Koch brothers rich guy Super-PAC sponsored convention because independent women voters are furious at the GOP. Democrats are enjoying widening margins of support and the damage has already been done. Remember those hundreds of anti-abortion bills sponsored by ALEC in all those GOP swing states? ALEC has helped the GOP commit political suicide.
You will rue the day Mr. Akin ever said this about splitting hairs about legitimate rape blah, blah, hogwash! The GOP will rue the day you ever put a "no abortion plank even for rape, incest, and health reasons of the mother in your GOP platform. Most Americans do not support such a radical step and the GOP will suffer accordingly come November. I am completely happy talking about Mr. Akins everyday from now until the election because women's reproductive health care needs are really important. You guys are also going to lose House and Senate seats in close races too and most GOP political analysts are extremely worried about Mr. Akin's remarks.
Do you want to talk about the economy instead? Don't forget those three million jobs that were obstructed by the GOP in the Congress. Two million jobs could have been created by the American Jobs Act that did not even get a vote in the "do nothing" sit on our rear ends GOP/Tea Party House. The Senate GOP filibustered the Small Business Tax credit bill that economists say would have created three million jobs. You GOP jerks did not even pass the Farm Bill on time either after the Senate passed it with bipartisan votes. Will the GOP pass the Farm Bill in the eight days left in the September legislative period? Most analysts think that it won't happen. So with three million jobs lost and farmers and ranchers going bankrupt you wish to talk about an obscure politician in a primary race in a NYC council precinct? You conservatives are nothing but a clown act being run by your corporatist masters the plutocrats.
We remember what you so want to call "The Obama Economy" is the "Aftermath of Bush" and the "Republican Agenda" we can't afford to ever go back to.
When does Obama man up and take responsibility for anything?
just saying...
Whom:
You keep accusing me of lying but yet you never produce any proof that I have lied about anything other than your stupid claims.
just saying...
Right capt re reg only your little ploy of trying to discredit my posts and my opinion is rather laughable at best. That you believe that you are the one with credibility and your word is worth anything is just more of that superiority bull@!$%# your ego produces, reality is you are just another dime a dozen tea bagged republicans who troll left leaning blogs to post GOP lies and half truths.
Your lie that Akins misspoke is one such example, then there is your lie that Obama refuses to take responsibility when truth is you credit Obama for GWB GOP policies while ignoring that the GOP have kept most of GWB's policies in place by using the filibuster. That you then lie and say that Obama hasn't tried to get the GOP on board with his policies we have shown you that the republicans even turned down policies that they have always voted for, but then you knew that already. You can't force anyone to do anything when they refuse to play along.
Stormguy: The hypocrisy of the GOP is simply appalling and galling. Women should have the right to birth control, abortion, and family planning programs. About one out of three women will have an abortion at sometime in their life for a variety of reasons. Remember all those antiabortion laws passed in GOP controlled states? Remember Governor Bob "ultrasound" McDonnell and his restrictions on abortions? Remember the GOP's House first bill to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood? Remember independent women voters are appalled and deeply offended by the GOP's plank in the party's platform that outlaws abortion for rape, incest, and life of the mother. Its not just Akin's comments, its the fact that your party treats grown adult women like doormats. As a 20 year career soldier, I had women with whom I served with who were my commanders, fellow NCO's and fellow soldiers everyday for 20 years. These women were my equals in every respect. If you are going to treat women like equal adults than you must have family planning, birth control, cancer checks, and abortion services available to them and paid for by insurance companies.
The Republican attacks on groups like Planned Parenthood are simply appalling. This GOP patriarchal society is not the kind of modern forward looking country I served 20 years to protect because the GOP treats women like doormats instead of equal adults. The GOP wants to bring the U.S. back into the 19th century rather than to live in the 21st century. Instead of the GOP House creating "jobs, jobs, and more jobs", all we got were attacks on women's reproductive health at the state and federal levels. The GOP will pay dearly in November for its political sins because angry independent women voters don't just get mad they get even.
Right except you are lying again xe/jerry no one is asking for anything for free they are just asking for what they paid an insurance company for and to live up to the policies the insurance companies sold them. Like everything else xe/jerry you keep using that lame old Reagan lie that people are getting stuff for free, what you don't get is that is what the Koch brothers and their ilk do to gain more wealth. I'm am so tired of your beliefs based on the insane rantings of a 3rd rate movie actor who couldn't tell delusions from reality. So xe/jerry do other people in your insurance group complain when you go see a doctor, I mean really why should they pay for your doctor visit when you have a case of sniffles. That you believe that the tiny amount you pay for health insurance covers your and only your health needs just shows a level of delusions on the scale of a mental case. Really xe/jerry your lies don't fly.
But that wasn't what happened xe/jerry, people paid for the services and the insurance companies after providing said services decided they wanted to stop providing services for no reason. So again xe/jerry you are making a straw man argument while ignoring the events leading up to your lies. Really xe/jerry forcing an insurance company to provide services that they had been providing since the 1960's is not anyone getting a government handout. But then xe/jerry like Akins you believe its your duty to tell women what health coverage they need.
Yes they did xe/jerry OxyRush lied about the whole issue.
Ok prove it rather very simple xe/jerry, if you posted it then it is a lie. See real easy to debunk a person who lies all the time xe/jerry.
WHOM or Rex or any other left wing wacko on this board...
HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO GET RID OF ME FOREVER...
Please find ANY post where I defended what Akin had to say and I will leave this blog forever and will not post again, other than one last post that will say congratulations, you caught me.
Here is another opportunity...find any post that I have made where said that Obama has not done anything to get the Republicans on board with his policies and I will leave.
Obviously the moderators on this board really don't care if someone like you openly lies almost every single time you post, but it is an radical leftist blog and your side can set whatever rules it wants.
You have your chance to back up what you have been accusing me of. Are you up to the challenge? I know you aren't because I have never made either of the statements you accuse me of, but that won;t stop you from coming back with some lame excuse on why you cant do it.
For once in your life, accept some personal responsibility for your actions. If you prove me wrong, I am willing to....

Drama Queen Alert
Stormguy: I get really sick and tired of conservatives like you treating women in America like doormats. Why does your Republican party want to take away a woman's right to family planning, birth control, and abortion services? Women pay taxes and also pay insurance premiums but insurance companies in the past have routinely charged them more or denied them needed reproductive health services. It's called discrimination against women period. I don't care about anything else because the central question here is why the GOP treats women like doormats in the 21st century? When are you GOP jerk offs going to start supporting a woman's right to abortion services? We either need to force insurance companies to cover these procedures or else the public has to pay taxes so women get access to birth control, family planning and abortion services. Women pay for insurance premiums for themselves and their families plus women pay taxes. So either way, all women need to have access to these services and any GOP man that says that a women has to pay "extra" for these services or be exposed to some type of morality test needs to get kicked in the nuts with steel toed boots. Women are equal human beings and when the GOP passes antiabortion, anti-family planning, and birth control measures by limiting funding for Planned Parenthood you are going to lose Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and quite a few other places. I am happy to keep talking about the issue of women's reproductive health and the GOP's war on women from now until November.
REX...
when are you Democrat jerkoffs going to protect the life of an unborn child? Why is it okay with you guys to kill a child who hasnt done anything wrong, but its not okay to kill a scumbag who has raped and murdered women? Talk about a war on women...
Please tell me which women in the country do not have access to birth control. Last time I checked, condoms were sold at most every grocery store and drug store and convenience store in the country. Guess what...nothing is free...OH...you want me to pay for it? Shove that up where the sun doesnt shine. If you think that everybody in this country deserves free birth control, get up off your sorry ass and start earning some money to pay for it.
And by the way scumbag, I support a woman's right to choose. I wish she would choose to allow the child to be taken to birth, but if she wants to abort the child, that is her choice and she will have to deal with the consequences of the decision the ret of her life. So, before you start with all of your crap, at least know something about the person you are trying to berate. Otherwise, your immature ramblings are just as good as you pissing in the wind.
Oh, that's right, anyone that disagrees with your opinion is just a right wing pussy. You are such a closeminded ass, you are not worth the time that it takes me to dump a turd.
Instead of worrying about me, you should concentrate your attacks on yoru little lapdog Whom who has his nose stuck so far up your rear end that it is coming out of your mouth. When either of you boys can prove the claims you make against me, let me know. Otherwise, go play with yourselves...it is probably what you are best at.

Stormguy: Everything you write is the manuscript masturbation of an amateur with a hugely inflated pompous ego. Did you ever see any time on active duty or in a real combat zone? I served alongside with women during wars all the time, days, nights, holidays, and weekends for 20 years both at home, overseas, and in a combat zone. Women in the military are given birth control pills free if they are on deployment or at home for that matter. So my point is why not do the same thing on the home front too for all women and older girls? Why not start giving birth control pills to any girls that want them starting in say seven grade? Why not give young girls in lower socioeconomic groups the birth control shots that guarantee they won't get pregnant for at least a year? Why not make teen pregnancy and all unwanted pregnancy a thing of the past permanently? Its not like the technology does not exist or the medical knowledge is not known? Why not get every young girl in the U.S. to become an engineer, a mathematician, a teacher, a professor, a nurse, doctor, or lawyer vice an unwed mother on welfare? Good things happen for society when women have complete control over their reproductive health with universal health care paid for by the state.
I happen to think that women are equal in all ways. Women are serving on the battlefield right now in Afghanistan and other places around the globe on active duty. We also have a responsibility to make sure that women's reproductive health care needs are all paid for by the state or paid for by the insurance company period. If you think about what I wrote and look at what you wrote, you will see who believes in women as equals. Your side believes women are doormats for a patriarchal society that no longer exists except in your own deluded conservative mind. Birth control and family planning services are critical for women's place in society.
I call you a right winged hypocrite because you are one. If I told you right winged radicals we had to raise your taxes to support more unwed mothers for welfare, you all would become apoplectic with rage. Once kids are here the GOP philosophy is "you are on your own" like they can go out and get rich by themselves at the age of ten. You conservatives don't give a damn about paying taxes for decent schools for children, health care for the uninsured families, food stamps/SNAP for the poor working class families in America or keeping a decent social safety net for the poor. What happened to caring about real people who actually live in America? All you conservatives morons care about are more tax cuts for billionaires and millionaires or their tax shelters in the Cayman Islands from all those GOP jobs created in Asia. The plutocrats are playing you for their own interests but you seem not to have the IQ to figure that one out.
People like you are reactionary, brain washed, parochial, and superstitious of modern science. You conservatives belong back in the dark ages somewhere. In Western Europe, all of the industrialized countries pay for women and for girls to get family planning, birth control, abortions services they need. These programs are all paid for by the state or mandated to be paid for by insurance companies. You belong to a party that wants to suppress women's right for reproductive health whether or not you are pro-choice or not. Remember that plank in the GOP platform that will not even allow abortion in cases of rape or incest? This is the Republican party of today: a party filled with hatred of women and their reproductive health needs. Like all you conservatives are medical doctors with an informed opinion about pregnancy, abortion, STD's or a host of other medical issues? Anyone that supports the GOP supports keeping women as second class citizens or to be used as doormats in a patriarchal society. Because, if a woman can not control her reproductive health she has no control over anything else including her own destiny. Women I served with in the military were not second class citizens they were and are our equals. Go look at what you wrote and then think about what I wrote because right winged morons like you ought to be ashamed of themselves. Want to fight? I can go on like this all year long, because I despise right winged conservatives who act like bullies and chauvinist morons.
Rex...Stop with your posturing regarding your service. If you are so damn concerned about whether women can go have sex without consequences and not have to pay for it here is one simple question...
How often do you give money out of YOUR pocket to a woman so that she can go buy birth control pills or condoms? Oh, you haven't...then STFU!
You or the woman living next door to you or any other woman...or man...in this country has no right to the money in my pocket just so they can get their jollies by having sex.
THERE IS NOTHING FOR FREE. Can you get that through your shellshocked head? The insurance company isnt just giving them away out of the goodness of their heart...every other American is paying for them. Where do you think that the money comes from to "GIVE" them to the female soldiers? The answer...out of every other American taxpayers pocket. Now, I know that doesnt concern you because your sorry ass is probably one of the 47% who do not pay income tax every year. However, for the rest of us, I would rather see that money go to pay for my family's groceries, or heat, or mortgage. I am very equal in my view of birth control...if somebody wants to have sex, it is their responsibility to either pay and use birth control, or it is their responsibility to pay for the results of their actions.
Stop with your self-rightous BS about how high and mighty you are because "you think women are the same as men"...I do too. So take that and shove it.
If you are so in love with Western Europe and their failed policies...MOVE...hell, I will start a fund to pay for your airfare.
just saying...
Stormguy: Virtually no person is celibate their whole lives. Most people start becoming sexually active in their teens and by age 21 the celibate don't exist virtually anywhere on the face of this earth. Once people start becoming sexually active they stay sexually active their entire adult lives. Go talk to a nurse or social worker who deals with this stuff what you learn may surprise you. Lots of 13 to 15 year old girls from upper middle class families are victims of rape, incest, or statutory rape. One out of three women get an abortion in their lives. Nearly 100% of all women will use birth control in their lives. So spare me the crap about the fantasy about abstinence. Women's reproductive health care with family planning, birth control, and abortion services are a societal wide, medical, and public health issue that requires government intervention so that young women stay in school and develop their maximum potential. This way when they get older and want to start a family they can get married and raise their kids because they have the earning power to do so.
Just remember when you conservatives say "NO" to universal health care and reproductive health care services for all women and girls you are saying "YES" to more welfare, more food stamps, more public assistance for unwanted children. Unwanted children are more likely to become high school dropouts, live in poverty and draw on public assistance as adults, have increased problems with chemical abuse or alcoholism, and more likely to have criminal records. Remember it costs nearly $10,000 annually to educate a child, more for welfare and public assistance for the family with an unwanted child, and it costs $50,000 annually to lock up an unwanted child who grows up to be a prison inmate. Sociologists study all of these things.
Family planning, birth control, and abortion services are dirt cheap compared to the costs of unwanted children who grow up to be unwanted adults who can not provide for themselves. Conservatives who are opposed to providing free birth control, family planning, and abortion services are the "big liberal spenders" promoting "socialism." Unwanted children from unwanted pregnancies grow up to be an unwanted societal burden for all of us. Therefore, those with a rational mind support universal family planning, birth control, and abortion services paid for by the government in single payer health care systems. Western European countries with limited space, overpopulation, and limited resources recognized that universal health care and reproductive health care services for women were cost effective in dealing with the social costs of raising children. America is no different than Western Europe because costs are costs and $50,000 annually for a prison inmate is an expensive burden when compared to a few thousand dollars for an abortion for an unwanted pregnancy. Don't worry the government raises your taxes for the costs of unwanted pregnancies all the time you are just too ignorant to realize it. So if you are going to bitch and complain about welfare mothers, you should welcome the government paying for abortion, family planning, and birth control for all girls and women. If not you are just another ignorant hypocrite on the blog from the right.
I guess you fail to realize that many women in America are victims of rape, incest, or abusive men in failed relationships? So I guess I am hearing from you a teenage girl who is the victim of rape or incest or some other type of sexual abuse such as statutory rape is supposed to pay for her own abortion and reproductive health care services? These are the type of attitudes that help bring America down to 37th place in the world rankings in health care and public health statistics. Women's reproductive health care is a societal problem that requires a societal response. The RNC plank calls for the prohibition of abortion services for rape and incest victims. Yeah right you really are concerned about women's well being in society just as long as they shut up and take the discrimination that our society and for private insurance companies shoved down their throats just like the rapist shoves something else into their bodies. Conservative attitudes and policies screw women both coming and going. Women are not equals according to that RNC plank that prohibits abortion for rape and incest victims. The conservatives treat women like doormats for a patriarchal and corporatist society.
Stormguy: Here is something more for a conservative wanker like you. I have given you a country to live in so you can spill out your right winged filth. You are the one who is close minded. American infrastructure is about 20 to 30 years behind Germany, France, and most of the U.K. French TGV trains go faster than a commuter jet on trips less than 300 miles. Most northern European countries actually out compete America for high tech jobs. Stockholm is a sleeper city but continues to produce high tech goods and services on par with anything else in the world. All the Scandinavian countries have universal health care, excellent mass transit systems, universal health care and young people that can speak perfect English along with complete fluency in at least two other languages and good understanding of one or two other languages. Education in Europe is a big deal and the productivity of their countries prove the value of education.
Let's take a look at Germany. A typical German burns one half the amount of fuel per capita as an America but the German is probably just as or more productive in economic efficiency. Germany produces bullet trains called the ICE, solar panels, wind farms, smart grids and a whole range biomass technologies. Germany produced 50% of its electricity from Germany also produces high tech precision machinery that is exported to China. German military equipment is also excellent with many German weapons and technologies used by the U.S. Army. Go to a Jane's book and read a about Heckler and Koch infantry rifles, the Leopard II tank, or other armored vehicles made by Germany. German machinery, trucks, tractors, and other equipment works very well and is respected around the world for its efficiency.
Infrastructure in Europe is neat and tidy in most places. So when it comes to public education, infrastructure, green energy, and the Western European have us beat by large margins for quality of life. Germans, French, and British people have other options than to sit in American style traffic jams. Why sit in your car for hours each week in a traffic jam when you can hop on efficient buses, commuter rail, and bullet trains to go from A to B? Europeans pay $8 per gallon for fuel but most cars get 40 MPG or 50 MPG and they drive much fewer miles than Americans due. Like it or not, most younger Americans will be living in smaller homes or apartments closer together, driving small cars for much fewer miles, and the demand for bullet trains, commuter rail, and bus service will grow because young people won't be able to afford to drive everywhere. So conservatives are fighting a losing trend because America will become more like Western Europe because as we have less money in the economy we will find bullet trains, bus service, small 50 MPG cars along with single payer health care are cost effective necessities. The great ever sprawling suburban middle class society is ending in America because it is totally unsustainable. We just aren't talking about it much but when oil is $150 to $200 per barrel permanently Western European ways will become all the rage here in America.
Spare me the lectures about taxes too. I have paid plenty taxes and continue to pay federal income taxes including capital gains more than a few times in my life. I have been paying a combined total of 35% of what I earn in federal income taxes and federal payroll taxes, state income taxes, local property taxes, fees, licenses, and a whole range of other taxes all of my adult life. Most middle class Americans are in the same situation I am in too because the middle class pays most of the taxes that make the federal, state, and local governments and school districts function.
You are typical right winger whom I provided a country to live in for 20 years to improve his brain but failed miserably in that endeavor. The honest truth, you have zero empathy for others in our society. All you care about is yourself and your hard core right wing views. America use to be a better place than this a couple of generations ago. If we want to move forward in this century investments in public education, green energy, higher education, and state of the art infrastructure like commuter rail, bullet trains, and efficient bus service for municipalities everywhere are not some luxury, these will be the cost of making our country competitive in the global economy of the 21st century. We need to raise taxes substantially on the rich. We need to downsize our military. We need to invest in a green energy economy with lots of mass transit. Imagine TGV bullet trains by the many hundreds heading up and down the northeast coast between Maine and Washington DC, hauling tens of millions of passengers everyday. Traffic jams and sitting on airport tarmacs would become a thing of the past. The French TGV train is a smart intelligent, efficient way of moving society while American conservatives are too parochial and stupid to know understand a good thing when they see it. Even idiots like you will see the light when fuel is permanently $150 to $200 per barrel of oil. Asian industrialization will see to this happening this decade natural gas be damned.
Akin let loose his horse bridle and dared to speak the republican garbage, whereas, the rest of the republican politicians will loosen theirs after the election. Bunch of cowards!!!
He's right Akin will drastically hurt the Republicans play for the Senate, in fact he already has and since he's staying in this might not be the extent of the damage quite yet. Yeah trouble is that if Reince Priebus keeps talking he's gonna hurt their chances too! LOL
Seriously caterpillars? GOP is lucky they can't vote because if they did the right would lose them too.
Or his this is the party platform not Mitt Romney, the party's nominee, and Paul Ryan platform.
Shouldn't have got rid of Micheal Steele, he fought and won many crucial and tough races Reince will do the exact opposite.
I hope Romney's taxes ... Or seeing all of Romney's tax returns doesn't get lost in other issues. We need to see them. He is hiding something there.
Sheryl: You are correct. Romney is running on his business experience while at Bain capital. Romney needs to turn over at least 10 years of his taxes because it is his resume for the American public. It's Mitt Romney's responsibility to come clean about his offshore tax shelters in the Cayman's, Bermuda, Switzerland and anywhere else. If he is such a patriotic American why does he hide money from the IRS?
Hey demmies....what about all of the recent polls? I mean ALL POLLS. You lefties are getting desperate.
Even though Ed makes fun of Romney because of a serious storm threatening the southern coast...Ed makes light of it. What a low life progressive bully.
Also, Romney mentions something where he and his wife were born and Ed labels him King of the Birthers. Does Ed smoke something before he goes on the air? Is this really him talking this crap....................
..............or does he just read a prompter that other people write. It this guy really believes what comes out of his mouth........he is a "touched" human being.....barely a human being.
I cannot believe some of the things this man says. Its like watching a lame comedy show.
Thats the news for today for the dems.
The only ones who are desperate are you tea bagged republican trolls who post on left leaning blogs. Why you think you are going to get anyone to believe in your lies half truths and fake outrage rants is rather amusing as well as showing that your grasp of reality is lacking. Really you could seek help but reality is conservatives just don't question beliefs because it makes them cry to find out their fairy tales are not real.
You dems may make fun of the bad storm that has affected our convention....but at least that is valid. Look at your convention. A whole slew of big democrats are not even coming...even if it is good weather. They don't want to be associated wiith Obama.
Also, Hollywood has turned their back on Obama...they are not going. All of the invites came back saying...too bad....we don't like what we see. Even Clooney has divorced Obama
Well you are divorced from reality, like that wasn't already known. Seems that Clooney is holding a fund raiser for Obama, but I guess when you are a desperate tea bagged republican you will try anything to run from the fact that your candidate is someone who the majority of the GOP can't stand.
The GOP convention is a monument to billionaire and millionaire donors like the Koch brothers, Mr. Adelson, and other very wealthy people who live in GOP circles. Karl Rove's Super-PAC will be doing lots of fund raising in Tampa. Can you say "plutocrats?"
Personally, I agree strongly with Nancy Pelosi who says we need to limit the corporate money in politics by having all federal elections publicly financed. Nancy Pelosi also says we should amend the constitution to overthrow the right winged Supreme Court's "Citizen's United" ruling. Nancy Pelosi has this correct in both counts. If we do not eliminate corporate money in our politics the U.S. will become an oligarchy run by corporate plutocrats. Wealth inequality is the worst its been since 1929. America's democracy is toast without a strong middle class. Right now we need to put the middle class on the endangered species list. Because in 21st century America if you are born poor you are probably going to die poor even if you work 70 hours per week and graduate from college with decent grades. Our whole system is skewed for/by/of the top one percent.
Wrong whomitmay. Stop with the name calling. Man, can you people do anything but that.
No record, no accomplishments. All you can do is slander and call people names. What does that tell you about your cause.
Read this and weep!!!
President Obama recently praised Hollywood superstar George Clooney, calling him a “wonderful guy” and good friend. But even in the wake of the headline-grabbing compliments, a rep for the Oscar-winning actor confirmed he will not be attending the forthcoming Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
And it seems the majority of Clooney's high-powered Hollywood counterparts are also passing on the 2012 convention – a far cry from 2008’s showdown in Denver, Colorado which attracted dozens of A-listers including Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Silverman, Fallout Boy, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Ashanti, Fran Drescher, Ashley Judd, Rage Against the Machine, Aisha Tyler, Anne Hathaway, Susan Sarandon, Jon Hamm, Cash Warren, Jessica Alba, Fergie, Will.i.am, Kanye West, Matthew Modine, Kerry Washington, Stevie Wonder, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Hudson, Shawn Johnson, Forest Whitaker, Star Jones, Wilmer Valderama, Daniel Dae Kim, Kelly Hu, Jamie Foxx, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Chevy Chase, Richard Dreyfuss, Melissa Etheridge and Pharrell Williams.
Just to name a few.
We reached out to reps for all of the above in an attempt to find out if these stars would be attending the DNC again this year. A majority did not respond, but of those who did, few will be making a return trip.
YOu know Whomitmay....Hollywood marriages never last long....and Obama's marriage to Clooney and Hollywood was no exception.
Thank you very much.
Oh go away you are not on free republic and no person here takes your posts as more signs of a desperate GOP trying so hard to stop others from voting in the hopes you can get a guy you can't stand elected.
Don't be so cocky Rufus, like I told you before, having two pigs and a goat hidden in the Caymen Islands doesn't make you a 'Romney'.
Only in your dreams Rufus, only in your dreams.
John: XEP/Jerry, probably had too many drinks before coming onto the blog. He gets a little full of himself this time of day being a legend in his own mind.
Akin is saying nothing that differentiates him from the current Romney GOP platform. The problem was that Akin outed their stance when the GOP really wanted it to be kept quiet until they "took office," whereupon they'd pass so many anti-abortion bills you'd lose count because they'd come so 'fast and furious.'
Good advice for women :

More good advice for women: vote Democratic this November then get involved with politics for a Medicare for all public option to be offered at the insurance exchanges in 2014. We need to make sure that all women are taken care of medically including the rights for family planning, birth control, cancer checks, and abortion services. All women who work pay taxes and insurance premiums into the system so all women need to have these kinds of services made available to them free of charge. You already pay for these services every time you pay your medical insurance premiums and your taxes. Remember if you are a women don't let the GOP treat you like a doormat. Stand up for yourself and fight back against the miserable GOP bullies. Vote Obama/Biden 2012.
What's that old saying...
