Check out this great montage of quotes from Republican convention speakers, assuring us that though they may now represent the interests pf the wealthy, they or their family members grew up in abject poverty.
Our favorite: "Cleaning sheep pens."
Think they're protesting too much?

This video makes me sick. Are these people delusional? Do they truly believe they are wealthy and powerful today merely because they worked hard and make good choices? Really? To think they truly believe what they are saying is cause for concern. These people are in powerful positions and on national television.
They got to where they are because they won the gene pool lottery.
It is like that you are being lead to think that all the people that work for them became rich also.
A night for Romney to show his Faith and Clint Eastwood helped him with that . cause his faith is wrong, Romney thinks he will be just like good when he dies
Gee, I guess I must be a Republican! My dad.... and my mom.... and I picked strawberries when I was 10. Kind of like winning the lottery to discover that I am actually a rich Republican but just didn't know it! Should I become an equestrian now, too?
Clearly from the very, seriously warm tribute Romney's asst pastor made to introduce him, he is running for the wrong job. He should be a pastor! Sounds like he is made for the job. I am serious. If he did all that, I was very impressed -- for the first time. Maybe it is one of those situations where son has to emulate Dad, but really has different ambitions.
Seriously.... where do you disingenuous liberals come from... seriously... okay, yet again, how about a HISTORY lesson. First, Barack Hussein Obama gave a speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention (DNC). Within 1 minute - yes ONE MINUTE of starting to talk, he mentioned his father in Kenya growing up herding goats. HERDING GOATS!!! And you complain about sheep pens. He then spent three minutes talking about his upbringing. This is a man who made almost $1.8 million according to his 2010 tax return last year - while he was supposed to be doing a job as President of the United States. Second, Bill Clinton did the same thing in his acceptance speech of 1992. He talked about how his mom couldn't support him and put him on a train to go live with his grandmother. In ten years after leaving the White House, Clinton made $75.6 million for just showing up to give speeches. Let's compare those incomes to some of the speakers that are attacked by NBC News in this video clip - Chris Christie, he and his wife's joint income in 2010, $450k - Paul Ryan the VP candidate and his wife in 2010 had an AGI (that's adjusted gross income) of $215k - Susana Martinez in 2009 had income of $153k. Which party represents the middle class and which one is trying to blow smoke?
Oh, you tell us Einstein. Since when is 215 K middle class? Last I heard, that was pretty rich. Herding goats doesn't exactly pay that much nowadays does it? Your argument is pretty pitiful regarding the middle class. Blowing smoke? That would be the Greedy Ole pathological liars. The GOP.
One after another they kept getting up and telling us how poor their hard working parents were. The message seemed to be for all of those Americans out there working two and three poor paying jobs Stop complaining about your eighty hour week, you might be the lucky slob who has a kid like me!
