The Obama campaign took to Twitter to respond to actor Clint Eastwood's performance at the Republican National Convention Thursday night, further fueling a meme-in-the-making.
“This chair is taken,” tweeted @BarackObama, posted with a picture of the president in a chair.

Don't worry Clint, Obamacare covers pre-existing conditions.
good one lol
damn straight, Mr. President!
Mr.President -- That Is Just Plain SWEET -- Luv-It - PERFECT .........and This Seat Will Remain Occupied .....................he he heeeeeeee........................Obama/Biden 2012.......
Mr. Eastwoods circus act last night was the most despicable, disgraceful, disgusting and vile nonsense I have seen towards the President. I was outraged watching it.
Mitt & Clint this seat is taken ....
And if we have anything to say about it, it's going to STAY taken!!
Loving it
And as Obama says, it will remain taken. No rep liars in the white house. Use that line often Obama.
Send those repukes packing.
This was a very sad moment for the Romney campaign. It was a very sad moment for Eastwood that rain down on Romney's parade. Romney is the champion for all division and claims to be a man of faith. It is apparent that he is not for all Americans and that is not good for America. I have seen so much hate and disrespect in my life. I hope he can live with himself.
I couldn't agree more. I am absolutely appalled by this speech. I had NO idea Clint Eastwood was such a vile man. Not only disrespectful but hateful. This is so beyond decency. Half the things he was attacking Obama for were completely illegitimate issues, such as his disparaging remarks about what cars our President is transported in and the fact that he was a lawyer. Hell, probably about half our Presidents have been lawyers!
I now know why Clint Eastwood plays mean men so well.
The
Good?the bad! and the Ugly!Romney and crew are about to get their clock cleaned. The Democratic convention will be the firing of the cannons and then when the debates come? Obama is going to slaughter Romney. I'm going to feel very bad for Romney those three nights.
It's not a sure win for Obama. He has many obstacles in his path, i.e., limiting voters rights, polling restrictions, super pac's that are outspending him by far too wide a margin, the lies about his policies, with half the people in the country believing them. His biggest problem is, he's black and racism is alive and well. What scares me most is that the next President will have the opportunity to install as many as three or more Supreme Court justices which in my opinion will change our government to a Plutocratic/Theocratic one. I'm just glad I won't be around to see that and I'm sorry for those of you who will.
jopech
I want everyone to tell the people they know to get out the vote for Obama or you are correct. This country will go back to Bush era and even worse. Romney will do to America what he has done to countless companies. Gut them and take away jobs t send overseas. Plus take away pensions for our people.
Now that Romney is the "Official GOP canidate" he won't be able to avoid the press on hard questions like he did on his "european vacation"
Time to take Romeny to the wood shed.
I'd say something but The Insidious Lure summed it up nicely. Except I won't be feeling too bad for Romney.
Nice response, Mr. President.
Clint I though you had better sense than that. Siding with the 2% over the 98% is shameful. Oh' but you are rich right? That's ok, we need rich people to tell us we're too lazy or too stupid to to rich our self's. But just think Clint we the stupid and lazy people out number you 98 to 2.
Never liked Eastwood. Never liked his "manly" stance and cowboy attitude. Never liked his movies. Now the dislike has turned to contempt. A mean, bitter man.
I belong to neither party and have been a life-long fan of Mr. Eastwood. While watching his "performance" last night I could not help but think that he may have a health-related problem. He was constantly losing his train of thought and at times seemed to ad-lib because he did forget what he was supposed to say. Due to what I saw last night, I cannot help that the 82 year old Mr. Eastwood has the early signs of dementia. For me it was very sad to see Mr. Eastwood struggle to find words as he did last night. I would hope that if any of us who have commented on this will benefit from understanding if any of us are found to have a problem with our memory when we reach our golden years.
If Romney gets in we will not be able to afford health care for our problems so it might be a good thing to be able to forget. Mr.Eastwood can afford the best health care that money can buy.
Dirty harry, is now dirty clown show.
Colbert does it better. http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=754841
Clint Eastwood only voiced what many Americans are thinking. Just because it's not what you are thinking doesn't make him wrong. He's entitled to his opinion just like anyone else. Mr. Eastwood is not G-d. So don't be so disappointed. Where was the outrage when Barry tore into the bible? Where was the outrage when he bi-passed Congress and gave the Muslim Brotherhood $1.4 billion of our tax dollars to further the islamic agenda? Where was the outrage when he bowed down to the Saudi King? All this shows where Mr. Soteoro is really taking all the sheep.....to the slaughter.
Cute - all the things you refer to are within the power of the Presidency. As for bowing to the Saudi King, respecting another's customs does not mean we are weak. He definiely isn't getting shoes thrown at him like Bush did, because Bush showed that he didn't respect other cultures, and that was the main problem with his foreign policy.
As for Mr. Eastwood , first he does a commercial about the US automakers and supporting what Obama did and then what he did last night. It's not clear at all what he is thinking.
Nice tweet, good till Jan 2013 then back to Chicago. Adios
Right max but to do that requires the most hated man in the GOP to get at least 61% of the white vote including white women who that GOP have been busy wagging war against. So max all you can do is whine and hope your whines discourage voters from voting.
How do you measure that he is the most hated man in the GOP? Only through your hate filled eyes that think being successful is a bad thing I guess.
Wrong again max robme hood only has a 29% likeability rating, even Hoovers was higher then robme hoods after the 29 stock market crash.
Where was your outrage when Bush brought this country to it's knees with debt? Debt that some are blaming on this administration.
BINGO!!!! no I mean WHOMI !!!!!!!
Ah!! Whom now likability equals hate. you are so sick
You are right!! He made my day as well as millions others. We own this country and are proud of it and not bitter about being Americans like the current WH residents are.
Damn you ppl are gullible.
Today on the stump Mitt referred to the US as a company, beware people a corporate Raider has his sights on the White House,A heck of a lot more people are about to get fired with no benefits by the guy that likes to fire People.

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama said he is a big
Clint Eastwood fan, despite the 82-year-old actor’s unusual
performance at the Republican National Convention last week.
“He is a great actor and an even better director,” Mr. Obama said in an
interview with USA Today. “I think the last few movies that he’s made have been
terrific.”
Mr. Obama said he wasn’t offended by the eccentric dialogue that the actor
pretended to hold with the president at the Republican convention.
“One thing about being president or running for president—if you’re easily
offended, you should probably choose another profession,” he said in the
Saturday interview.
Still, Mr. Obama signaled the acting stunt probably won’t be imitated at the
Democratic National Convention this week: “I think we’ll be playing this pretty
straight.”
Mr. Eastwood riled some Republicans earlier this year when he appeared in a
TV commercial for Chrysler during the Super Bowl that said it was “halftime in
America.” Some Republicans saw it as a coded message of support for the
president.
Mr. Eastwood said at the time that he was “not politically affiliated with
Mr. Obama.” Months later, the actor endorsed Mitt Romney and
earned himself an invitation to speak to the Republican convention on the night
Mr. Romney would be officially nominated as candidate
At the event, Mr. Eastwood’s rambling 12-minute performance—in which he
interviewed an empty chair on stage—became one of the most discussed portions of
the convention.
Until now, the Obama campaign had largely avoided responding directly to the
popular actor, jokingly referring reporters’ questions to the famous surrealist,
Salvador Dalí.
For its part, the Romney campaign said that “judging an American icon like
Clint Eastwood through a typical political lens doesn’t work.”
On Sunday, however, White House senior adviser David
Plouffe said he didn’t think the Romney campaign still wanted to field
questions about the actor’s monologue several days after the end of their
convention. “I think they had probably other business they wanted to transact,”
he said. “But we’re all Clint Eastwood fans here in the Obama campaign.”
Seems to me Clint purposely put a monkey wench in Willard's campaign, but didn't have any respect for Obama. He mentioned the libertarian party and I believe that's his choice and doesn't care for either Democrats or Republicans. Yet his disgusting remarks sure enough made the true feelings of the Republican party known. 6 one half a dozen the other.
I really truly admire President Obama.
But ... he does have big ears. :)
Yes he does lol
Just wait a minute here! Take a look at that White Elephant Paul Ryan, Dumbo!
But he'll never get off the ground with that big pack of lies!
"Paul Ryan stretching the truth is another form of doping in that if you believe him you are a dope!" - Steven Colbert
I feel they must have paid Eastwood a bunch, And it was all because of his ad during halftime of the Super Bowl. Revenge but it totally backfired. Sure made my day! And they have two punks! R&R
Eastwood should have listened to Clyde and took a left turn instead of a right!
Obama's comments sounds as if he doesn't intent to give that seat up regardless of the results of the election. Not hard to understand that, Obama does a lot of things against the will of the people, you know Obamacare, the Stimulus, etc...
@2ez
No it doesn't sound like that at all - at least to any reasonable person...
The ACA and ARRA were pieces of legislation that passed both the House and the Senate by majorities and then signed by the President. All done per the Constitution.
maphi, I didn't say it was unconstitutional, I said it was against the Will of the People, big difference. Remember the Polls. The majority of People were against both Obamacare and the Stimulus. Now when it comes to the Constitution, we do have the example of the Dream Act which failed to be passed by our legislators, yet Obama implemented portions of it anyway. The same holds true for Obama's Waivers for Welfare Reform which was passed by Congress and signed by a President. Obama does what he wants regardless of the Constitution or the Will of the People, he has demonstrated that time and time again. I think he believes he is an All Knowing and All Powerful Dictator.
@2ez
So many incorrect statements!!!
{delete space between first two // in links}
The majority of people are for the individual policies in the ACA.
The final vote on the Dream Act in the Senate was 55-41 in favor. This is a majority but not enough to overcome the filibuster.

http:/ /communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/ad-lib/2012/jun/22/DREAM-Act-questions-answers-Obama-immigration-undo/
Your comment about Waivers is just plain wrong:
http:/ /finance.yahoo.com/news/obamas-welfare-waiver-gutting-rules-tweaking-203544319.html
maphi, The Polls before and after Obamacare was shoved down our throats clearly demonstrated the majority of Americans were opposed to it. That is a fact. It is true that many believed specific components of Obamacare were good, extending coverage for older children and addressing pre-existing conditions are good examples. However those two issues could have been successfully addressed in a two page Law, the majority of Americans didn't need or want Obamacare as a whole.
I said that our legislators failed to pass the Dream Act. That is a true statement. I said that Obama implemented portions of the Dream Act regardless of Congress. That is also true. Obama really doesn't need Congress or the Constitution, he will do what he wants.
I don't care what you call it, the Law as passed by our legislative body and signed by the President prohibited waivers for the Work Requirement, Obama like he does so well and ofter, has ignored the Law by creating an opportunity for waivers to be granted.
Why do we need the House and the Senate, when we have a President that acts completely independent of the Laws created by our Legislative Body?
@2ez
When asked if they support "ObamaCare" people say no.
Many of the provisions - more than the ones you listed - poll well.
The provisions such as the pre-existing conditions and no lifetime limits, are only possible for private insurance companies if the additional costs can be offset. This is done by adding more healthy people to the pool of insured policy holders.
A 2 page bill would not have done this.
The immigration executive order is temporary - to prevent children from being deported. These are exactly the people that will be protected when we get around to immigration reform. Other facets of the problem will be more contentious - but not this one.
The waiver is not for the work requirement. The waiver is for States who request one - so they can achieve the same - or better - goals.
maphi, As you said "When asked if you support Obamacare, People said NO". It was passed against the will of the people, as I said. No lie, no fabrication, and no exaggeration.
And why do you think a two page bill would not have worked? The Federal Government has never been concerned about how their Bills would be paid for. Ever heard of an unfunded mandate? The way you put it, it appears you think the Democrats that shoved it down our throats were actually worried about the Evil Insurance Companies? That is too funny.
Prevent children from being deported, really. Maybe where you are from children are 30 years old. Obama has essentially stopped deportation all together with exception to violent criminals. Even violent criminals remain in the US without any attempt to find and deport them. And those poor children you are so concerned about are criminals in most cases. They possess and use forged Social Security Cards and Driver's License. They place a significant strain on our Medical and Education Systems. And lastly the results of Immigration Reform is yet to be seen. I for one don't believe any one entering the US Illegally should be given any consideration at all.
2ez - That was because the people were fed a bunch of lies about it at the time. Recent polls now show that a majority favor "Obamacare". They have now had time to look at it and how it helps the majority and not the insurance companies per se.
Did anyone else get this part of Romney's Speech,"When you lost that job that paid $22.50 an hour with benefits, you took two jobs at $9.00 bucks an hour with fewer benefits." that my friends is the reality, instead of earning $22.50 an hour for a 40 hour week, people have been earning $9.00/hour for an 80 hour week which is even less than the $22.50, Romney is telling us his intentions, we can read between the lines and analyze what he says, or, just ignore what has been said as Liberal garbage, he doesn't fool me one bit.
http://www.businessinsider.com/romney-two-jobs-2012-8
That line in Romney's Speech that people are outraged
about:http://www.businessinsider.com/romney-climate-change-line-2012-8
"fewer benefits"
Right - like no health insurance.
This is exactly the situation that will be helped when the ACA is fully implemented - theoretically.
And Global warming is an issue that will require facing Hard Truths - which Romney/Ryan claim they will do. Oh wait..............don't hold your breath!!
Romney is telling us as it will be under his and Ryan's administration, people choose to ignore or put in under raps, but these two guys do not fool me, I see this everyday, they are mean spirited, one other thing that I have observed, Ryan and Romney say they are Christians, yet, they have no problem lying, I wonder what kind of Christianity that may be.
CM, He was talking about life under Obama for the past four years. You know Obama's America with 8.3% Unemployment. Obama's America with devalued Homes. Obam's America with high fuel costs. Obama's America with 46 million citizen on Food Stamps. Obama's America where Tax Dollars are taken from the citizenry and sent to Brazil and Mexico to create jobs and develop their Oil Industry. Obama's America where Tax Dollars are sent to Australia and France to create jobs and finance their Auto Industry. Obama'sAmerica where 23 million are unemployed or under employed. Obama's America where the President sends troops to fight in Afganistan while he sends millions to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Romney was talking about Obama's America.
2ez: I know you are a smart man, I have read many of your posts, but how could Obama solve our economic crisis without the help of the GOP senate, they have refused to do anything to help the citizens, here is McConnell, the minority leader in the Senate, is this any way an elected official to behave?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-A09a_gHJc
2ez: Could you provide a link regarding sending millions to help the Muslim Brotherhood, I would be interested in seeing that..thanks...
CM, Attached is an article from the NY Times, there are many other articles explaining the suspension of Aid to Egypt and of course the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in the government of Egypt. The amount of Aid ranges from 1.3 to 1.5 Billion dollars.
tp://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/16/world/middleeast/us-military-aid-to-egypt-to-resume-officials-say.html
CM, the problems Obama faces are not coming from the Senate, the Democrats hold a majority there. The Republicans, many of which are Tea Party Conservatives, holds a majority in the House. The House is providing the resistance to Obama, primarily to his spending habits.
I personally don't think Obama can over come his past mistakes concerning the Republicans. If you will recall during Obama's first two years in office he sought not help or involvement from Republicans. Obama treated them like a "Red Headed Step Child". That was a lack of both foresight and leadership. You cannot dump on some one or a group of people for two years and then reasonably expect their help. The other issue he faces is the significant difference in his beliefs and those of Conservatives. Obama clearly believes the people exist to serve the Government, while Conservatives believe the Government exists to serve the people. There is a big difference between the two and I don't think they will ever come together.
Well it tickles the heck out of me that I NEVER saw an Eastwood movie. Sounds like someone needs to reserve a room for Clint at the Lillian Booth actors home. Oh and by the way, if you haven't read it.. Read The White Horse Prophecy.
Wow, this is incredible. Reading the blogs it's ALL for the President. I for one can't wait to see what bigots like nuegent do when it's 4 more years.
Unless it is written in The Holy Bible and the book of Revelations, I don't care what these Predictions are...so no I have not read the White Horse Prophecy...but you are right, its good to know the mindset that out there...
Unless it is written in The Holy Bible and the book of Revelations
So you only believe in fairy tales then.
I guess because as you have said
In my Christianity, is what is keeping me and the COH to tell you exactly what is on my mind, but I will be a lady and just consider you a big waste of time, do not respond to me anymore...
@cm
I am ignoring @ho-lee-cow. I recommend using that option.
maphi, I just realized this guy is been paid, his shift will probably be over at 5pm, unless he is one one of those double shifts at Romney's going rate of $9.00/hour
The King James version of the holy book has over 850 identifiable authors!!
Next the books in your bible all were decided at the council of Nicaea in 325AD.
But you knew all that alraedy
Obama, talk an empty suit!
Romney's speech took Obama's words out of context, nothing surprising about that:
This is what Obama really said:
Here's the speech Romney is referring to, and what Obama said, in context:
If we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment - this was the time - when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals.

More of that obummer hot air I see.

Dude doesn't pack the gear to run a lemonade stand.
What a waste of the past 4 years.
Actually, I think you have wasted much writing saying nothing at all...
Well how about the over 8% unemployment rate for over 42 months.
How about the over 41 million people on food stamps.
THe over 12 million people out of work.
Well whats Obummer got to say? I know tax the rich, put more people on the government pay roll.
Tax all medical device mfgs out of business.
Kill the nat gas compaines and workers.
Hand cuff the banks.
Hand cuff all companies.
Working like a charm.
He tends to do that alot cm.
I guess that's his job, at one time I didn't believe they were people been paid for doing this blogging, but I am convinced that there are, this is their jobs and they do it all day, this guy's job is to post the same trash all day long, how boring, they are not allowed to be creative and use their brains, actually, I think that is a sad job, ghee!!! find something more productive to do, you aught to be ashamed, "GET A REAL JOB."
I'm 65 years old, furthermore I have 2 part time gigs.
Next I was smart enough to save my money over the years.
So I really do enjoy life, to bad you people don't.
Sorry to hear you are 65 and having two part time gigs, I guess you didn't save much $$$$ did you? how about you having a decent debate instead of being disruptive...
I play music, and tutor math, if you enjoy what you do, you will never have to work.
I knew you didn't have anything to do with English or spelling. If you're as bad at math as you are at those two, you're taking people's money under false pretenses.
Eastwood was originally scheduled to defend Romney and Bain against outsourcing charges, but then somebody brought up the subject of his spaghetti westerns.
And he laughs all the way to the bank.
But I'm sure if it was some rap star, rappin' bout beatin his girl, selling the $hit on the corner, beating the man out his money.
YOu would be all down wid it.
And if that rapper mentioned god, guns and country, you gullible morons would be right on board with him, correct?

Robert Draper Book: GOP's Anti-Obama Campaign Started Night Of Inauguration
http:/ /www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/25/robert-draper-anti-obama-campaign_n_1452899.html
The following is quoted from that article (emphasis added):
The dinner lasted nearly four hours. They parted company almost giddily. The Republicans had agreed on a way forward:
Go after Geithner. (And indeed Kyl did, the next day: ‘Would you answer my question rather than dancing around it—please?’)
Show united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies. (Eight days later, Minority Whip Cantor would hold the House Republicans to a unanimous No against Obama’s economic stimulus plan.)
Begin attacking vulnerable Democrats on the airwaves. (The first National Republican Congressional Committee attack ads would run in less than two months.)
Win the spear point of the House in 2010. Jab Obama relentlessly in 2011. Win the White House and the Senate in 2012.
"You will remember this day," Draper reports Newt Gingrich as saying on the way out. "You’ll remember this as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown."
