The results from Lean Forward's survey earlier Friday are in.
We asked: Did Clint Eastwood's performance at the RNC overshadow Mitt Romney's speech?
More than 1500 of you responded, selecting "Yes, I'm still confused" as your most popular answer, closely followed by "Yes, Eastwood was offensive."

Clint knows a lot about promises with 5 wives and 7 children. He was offensive and lewd. The one thing the Republican Tea Party can't buy is class. President Obama won't ever say it, but I invite Clint boy to perform the same act upon himself that he so crudely introduced into the conversation. Pathetic..
Clint knows a lot about promises with 5 wives and 7 children. The disgusting, lewd comments fits in perfectly that crowd. Clint like the rest of the Republican Tea Party Mafia with all their money can't buy class. Being pathological liars is the least of their problems.
pathetic inappropriate performance. then to hear that rummy thought it was funny was just the icing on the cake! there was nothing funny about that performance by an 82 year old, multiple marriages actor. the rethuglicans are pathological liars. cannot believe a word that utters forth from rummy since he flip-flops on every issue. it is embarrassing to watch rummy and ryan lie so effortlessly and then accuse our president of a hateful campaign!
Don't be embarrassed. You'll get over it sooner when you accept that you made a mistake. We all do. It's OK...
You call this a survey? You guys are losers and so is your party. Obama tried. Obama failed. All your dancing up & down will not get you any more "tingle" running down your leg. Time to move on folks. No need to be offended. He had his chance.
Obama - One & Done !
Hey Leo, I will try to keep this simple and respectful. Just in case you did not notice, we stilll have a country 3 1/2 years after the greatest looting and collapse of the American economy. You need to face the inescapable fact that Obama inherited the catastrophe of 8 Bush years that threw this nation down the @!$%#ter, and destroyed the middle class. Were it not for the bailout, those Wall Street gangsters, bankers, and Romney groupies would still be sending jobs overseas, stashing their loot in foreign banks and islands, and acting like they have the intelligence to run a nation. GET OVER YOUR PHONY OUTRAGE!!!! Wall Street is NOT running things anymore. Nor is Romney going to have any opportunity to F**K things up further. Let him take his 'brown-nose' VP [whose choice LOST him this coming election]and go sit somewhere out of sight for 4 years in intensive therapy to get some sanity back. That is the best that I wish for these two stupid men.
"Still confused" means you didn't get it. Obviously over your heads...
Clint Eastwood is a great American artist. His political views are not in line with mine, but that does not lessen my respect for him. He is for the most part a self made man, cultural icon, and funnier than HELL.
He did what nobody else at that sad charade did; he was honest and spontaneous. In his various ramblings he brought up issues that the candidates would not and could not touch. How about that Afghanistan war Mr. Romney? You want to be Commander in Chief, and you have no comment??? Too many unemployed Americans; yes, lets by all means talk about your part in that.
With his messed up hair and pointed wit, he gave an off kilter but masterful performance. I am sure nobody laughed harder than the President.
Ask any entertainer if they would go live on TV, in front of a big crowd, with one prop and take on some of the most important issues of the day, and make it funny, satirical, and do it live, real time, no net. There are plenty of entertainers 1/4 his age who would not try that under any circumstances. Any takers?
We should give him the credit due. He rocked the house. He ignored the teleprompter. He had something to say that we cannot stop talking about. What I see as the problem is that it was too edgy and real for that audience.
Give the man his due while he is still alive. You will miss him when he is gone.
I think it was actually very sad (and obviously uncomfortable to watch). This poor man is in his 80s and clearly showing signs of dementia. It just makes me wonder who is watching out for him, where is his wife or family to maybe have stopped him from getting on national tv and acting in this manner? Sad and frankly on the verg of being a little sadistic that an entire convention full of people were laughing, clapping and encouraging him.... twisted.
Lean FORWARD?? you have got to be kidding. Everyone knows NBC leans (make that sets the standard) for leaning LEFT. Its odd they could even cover the RNC.....there are no objective reporters at NBC. It will be hilarious watching the DNC and watching Rachel and Chris fall all over themselves trying to show their objectivity....what a joke.
The RNC made the weak move. They issued a press release trying to apologize or rationalize or wrap their minds around what had just happened. They said Clint was "just improvising".
I want to address your concerns.
1. No Forward. OK got it. You are not interested in forward.
2. I do not know about the objectivity of NBC. Lets put them down as not objective for the sake of your argument. As for MSNBC they are totally not objective. They let card carrying lefties work there. Well, except for the previous head of the RNC and various Republican strategists, and there is the small matter of a few of the newscasters working for Republican politicians, but lets ignore that for the time being.
3. Dr. Maddow and Chris Mathews are the first to admit they are partisans. Nothing new there. We know how they vote and what their motivations are.
4. As for this survey that has bothered you, certain parties at the RNC had exactly the same conclusions as the majority opinion here. If they had not, they would not have put out the apology or whatever you would call it that they issued while the show was going on.
In conclusion, we totally agree. You thought the survey is lacking credibility because it does not meet your standards. I thought the RNC lacks credibility for coming to exactly the same conclusions. Interesting. We do not have to be objective to arrive at the truth.
Oh, you mean NBC isn't an unbiased, just and honest channel like FOX... what a joke.
If Alec Baldwin did the same at the DNC he would be praised as a gifted comedian....same old double standard...
Oops, forgot Will Farrell already did that ......
@ DrThom, I bet you watch Fox and think its okay! What a joke!
Computer broken.. sound currently, couldn't hear Clint for myself. I do believe runny is the last man in this world I would call if I needed a president. Show me the income tax. Robert Earl Brown.
I love clint he made some great movies and i have nothing but respect for the man but you can clearly see age has taken its toll on him. but i have no respect for Reyan or Romney or any of these new crazy republicans..First is trickle down economics? lol what a joke that is, sure that worked in the past when taxes where at like 80% to much for company's to grow but taxes our now as low as they where in the 1950's.
Cant see how you can lower taxes at the same time you go into 2 wars what the hell where republicans thinking to top it off they gave him 8 years haha that alone proves they have no credibility.
