First lady Michelle Obama will take the stage Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention.
Lean Forward spoke with political analysts—Michael Steele (former RNC chairman), Jonathan Capehart (Washington Post), and Steve Kornacki (The Cycle, Salon.com)—as well as convention-goers in Charlotte, N.C., about the impact they expect the popular wife of President Barack Obama to have with her speech.

Our First Lady will do an excellent job in speaking to the people tonight. God bless you, Lady Michelle Obama.
I'm certain she will reveal what "needs to be banned" next and reiterate how this country REALLY needs to pay more taxes for their proposed welfare programs and upcoming vacations....ALL the important stuff.
Scott,
I think you need to get your shine box and go shine pristinely my New York City Shoes along with the other few million...and then do what other GOP s morons do....pray to at your local hill billy rural house of worship and kiss Romney and Bush s picture a few thousand times....and write a emotional letter of support to your BUDDY...Ryan....lying sack of beans like you.......get off this page....we dont like conservative liars and propaganda ..thats all you people do is lie......Get ya shine box pal!!
I think The First Lady will do a wonderful and supportive job discussing her Husband s hard work and perserverance in continuning his fight for us and Our Country.....Rome wasnt built in a single day,and restoring our Robust economy takes time and patience.....God Bless Our President and God Bless The United States Of America!!!
Why don't all you talking heads shut up and let us watch the damned convention!!! I tuned in to see the usual only this time with the convention as a backdrop. I've heard you ALL ad nauseum....please let us watch what is happening at the DAMNED CONVENTION!!!!!
The convention is on without too many interruptions at CSPAN.
Excited to watch the awesome first lady, Michelle Obama tonight. A voice of sanity and grace. Thank you for all your efforts for U.S. troops and our families. We are for you because we KNOW YOU ARE FOR US!!!
ok, this is ridiculous! during the RNC, we heard every speech from every person onstage. now during the DNC, we don't get to hear any of the speeches, just the pundits talking over everybody! even on msnbc! what is the reason for this?? ok we were able to watch the DNC's prerecorded videos.
this is outrageous.
check out c-span if you have cable or satellite for an uninterrupted coverage!
I just donated to the Obama - Biden campaign. I don't male much money but I believe in supporting our President. I urge you all to donate...even if it is $5.00. We have to re-elect this president! Mitt's millions and the millions of the Koch brothers and their friends will blow Obama away if we don't come together to support this team.
ok, this is ridiculous. when the RNC was televised, we heard every speech from every person on stage, in full.
now that the DNC is on, the pundits talk over all the speeches! why is this??
ok, they did show us the DNC's pre-recorded videos, but this is still much different than the RNC coverage.
outrageous.
I'd rather watch MSNBC but I'm switching to CNN so I can see the speeches. We listen to you guys analyze all day long. LEt us listen to the speeches!
Whoever suggested C-SPAN thanks so much! Its like watching the convention in the old days - just the convention and not much else. I can see the talking heads every day - why do I need them now! Thanks again :-)
Michelle brought down the house and delivered the speech wonderfully. The speech writers did a great job too. Strategically, it was a great answer to Romney trying to pose as a hard-working every man, when Michelle described what it was like for her and her husband to actually work their way up from nothing, with a little help from the government and the hard-working values instilled in them by their hard-working parents. I think Romney should have described how a millionaire becomes a billionaire, a truly amazing feat by the way, rather than pretend he was just some folksy self-made man with an "ironing board for a kitchen table." Michelle tells the story with much more authenticity whereas the Romney "struggle" just sounds like PR packaging. Romney never should have met the Obama's on this playing field and, instead, told the unique, true story of his rise.
Can MSNBC be any more liberal. I felt that Michelle Obama was
just playing to the crowd. if pulling heart strings was an effective tool for
running the country, we might be in a better position; unfortunately it's not.
That's why we are where we are on so many levels. If the Dems can put
together something of substance, we might go forward. Until then, we continue to go back.
