U.S. President Barack Obama joins former President Bill Clinton onstage after Clinton nominated Obama for re-election during the second session of the Democratic National Convention September 5.
President Obama made a surprise visit to the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night. The president stopped by to listen to former President Bill Clinton nominate him for a second term. Following the speech, Obama joined Clinton on stage where the two embraced, creating a photo-op with the country's last Democratic president and one enjoying wild popularity.
"I want Barack Obama to be the next president of America," Clinton said. "I proudly nominate him to be the standard-bearer of the Democratic Party."
President Obama will speak at the event Thursday evening.

The Dem party is in disarray. It is constantly changing. It writes a platform and when people find out what it is and that they don't like it, Hey! Wait a minute, we can change it to whatever is popular!!! Even when they needed a 2/3 vote at the convention, they couldn't get it, but passed it through anyway to make sure they don't lose any voters. What the Heck. I would like to know what they stand for! The people in the covention center cheer when they hear one idea and then they cheer when they hear an opposite idea. Are they really enamored with the party to the point that no matter what it is it stands for they cheer? They are running scared, following polls and public opinion. Get a platform and let the American people know exactly what you stand for and then we'll have a vote. I would hope that intelligent Americans can look through all of the BS "We'll do anything to get your vote" and see what the true issues are and how the party will address those issues. I don't see a clear plan and am truly disappointed.
@Jes33, the Democratic Party is FAR from being in disarray. You're suggesting that two minor intra-party "issues" are in any way comparable to the Fluster-Cluck that are the Republicans? Not even close, my friend.
Were you even paying attention to the final two hours of programming, both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings? Didn't look like disarray to me. It was exciting, vibrant, and CLEAR, unlike the R's Fabrication-Fest, of last week.
Oh, and how about that platform of the R's? Are they going to clarify ANYTHING before the election, or expect us to trust them on everything?
What was it that they fabricated? Did they make up the numbers on unemployment or the price of gas? Did they have a problem with their platform? What is it exactly?
I will tell you this much... it is apparent that when you do not have a record that you can stand on you shift it and talk about the things that the other guy is doing. Well that won't work anymore.
The Dems can't say that Obama has lowered the deficit, brought gas prices down or the average household income increased... nothing on those facts.
When Obama ran in 08 he said a lot of things and look how well that turned out.
Its not us running scared. The republicans are. Someone was suppose to take a week off of campaigning and vacation with his family well, found out this morning he is out campaigning . His vacation did not last a week with his family. Republicans are running scared, and as for not making up our minds on what we want; nobody changes their minds and tells lies more than Romney and Ryan.
Yes a vacation like Biden was going to take last week if it weren't for the hurricane he would have been in Tampa campaigning...
I would like one person to really point out the lies that Romney stated... like Obama has not lied? They all lie that is what they do the trick is to take the one with the less damage by the lies. So far, Romney is less. Obama said he was going to cut the deficit in half in his first term... he increased it. Unemployment would be down, it is up. Most important he said that if he did not fix the problems he was a ONE TERM President. Now tell me what has he said that he has done?
HISTORICAL, awesome, one keeper for now and my future-I was thrilled with all, and it IS the arrithmetic--plain and clear. ONWARD AND FORWARD--can't imagine there is a republican left standing!!
