Last month, a coalition of military groups intervened in a major voting-rights case in Ohio on the side of Republican officials—helping the GOP to make the false charge that the Obama campaign is working to suppress the military vote. The coalition has been described in media reports as above the partisan fray. But according to one key participant, it was organized by a Washington-based Republican lawyer and political operative who has helped launch several other efforts to intervene in voting cases in swing states across the country, always to the benefit of the GOP. And its main point of contact is a Washington lobbyist and former Republican Senate aide who runs a conservative advocacy group.
The involvement of national-level Republicans highlights how crucial the bid to reduce early voting in Ohio is to the party’s—and Mitt Romney’s—hopes this fall.
Earlier this summer, the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee sued the state of Ohio over a Republican-backed law that ended early voting in the three days before Election Day for everyone except members of the military, making it harder for hundreds of thousands of Ohioans—disproportionately African-Americans, research suggests—to vote. Not long afterwards, a coalition of 15 military groups filed documents (pdf) asking to intervene in the lawsuit on the side of the defendant, Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted. The military groups sought “to defend the fundamental constitutional right to vote of members of the U.S. Armed Forces,” according to their brief.
A judge ruled late last month in favor of the Obama campaign, ordering Husted to direct local election boards to prepare to allow early voting for everyone. Husted—joined by the coalition of military groups—is appealing the ruling.
The military coalition has largely escaped scrutiny, even though it appears to have been organized as part of a concerted effort to lend support to Republicans in voting cases—some, as in Ohio, involving efforts to restrict voting rights—in swing states across the country.
The coalition—made up of volunteer groups like the U.S. Army Association, the U.S. Navy Association, and the National Guard Association—was assembled by Michael Morley, a Republican lawyer and political operative, according to Bob Carey, who serves as a point of contact for the coalition. “Michael Morley approached these organizations and put it together himself,” Carey told Lean Forward.
Morley, who did not respond to multiple requests for comment via phone and email and whose name does not appear on the coalition's court filing, served in the Bush administration as a special assistant to the Army General Counsel. He's also a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA)—a group of GOP election lawyers that has in the past worked to spread concern over voter fraud despite little evidence that such fraud exists— according to the RNLA's website. And he appears to have carved out a niche this year launching legal efforts to intervene in voting disputes in swing states, on behalf of Republicans seeking to limit voting rights or otherwise advantage the party's candidates. Among the recent initiatives he's been involved in:
• In May, Morley filed a motion seeking to intervene in a lawsuit challenging Pennsylvania’s controversial Republican-backed voter ID law. He was representing a group of voters who backed the law, saying they were seeking to protect their own votes from being diluted by fraudulent voting.
• In June, Morley filed a similar motion (pdf) on behalf of Wisconsin voters, opposing a lawsuit that challenged a voter ID law pushed by Gov. Scott Walker and state Republicans.
• Last month, Morley represented a group of Iowa voters seeking to knock Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson off the ballot in that state. Johnson, who ran in the Republican presidential primary, could draw crucial votes away from Mitt Romney this fall.
WATCH RACHEL MADDOW'S SEGMENT MONDAY NIGHT ON THE NATIONWIDE GOP WAR ON VOTING:
Carey, the coalition's point of contact, is himself a well-connected Washington lobbyist and former aide to Republican senators Spencer Abraham and George Allen, who has served as director of a Defense Department program that helps military and overseas voters to cast ballots. In addition to his work at a lobbying firm founded by Abraham, Carey currently helps run the National Defense Committee, a conservative military advocacy group.
The involvement of the military coalition has lent crucial backing to the Republican charge that the Obama campaign's lawsuit seeks to suppress the military vote, which tends to skew Republican. Pete Hegseth, a conservative activist and former Army captain who ran unsuccessfully this year for the Republican Senate nomination in Minnesota appeared last month on Fox News on behalf of the coalition to stoke concern over the Obama campaign’s lawsuit. “It’s so shamefully political, what they’re doing,” Hegseth said of the suit. Mitt Romney’s campaign accused Obama of seeking to “undermine” military voting rights, and Ohio GOP Senate candidate Josh Mandel claimed the president was “trying to suppress the military vote.”
News reports and independent fact-checkers have been quick to label those charges false: The Democrats’ lawsuit asks that early voting hours be extended for everyone, leaving military voters unaffected.
Morley isn’t the only Beltway Republican lawyer involved with the Ohio effort. As Rachel Maddow reported Monday, citing the liberal Ohio blog Plunderbund, Husted has been getting help from Washington-based William Consovoy, who also has been involved this year in legal bids to curtail voting rights in Florida and Alabama.
In Ohio, the military coalition’s brief—which appears to have been drawn up quickly; it misspells the name of Judge Peter Economus—argues that although Democrats weren’t asking for early voting days for service-members to be cut, their lawsuit nonetheless threatened military voting rights because it sought to have special consideration for the military declared unconstitutional, setting a precedent that could lead to such consideration being banned in the future.
“Although the relief Plaintiffs seek is an overall extension of Ohio’s early voting period, the means through which Plaintiffs are attempting to attain it—a ruling that it is arbitrary and unconstitutional to grant extra time for early voting solely to military voters and overseas citizens—is both legally inappropriate and squarely contrary to the legal interests and constitutional rights of Intervenors, their members, and the courageous men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces,” the coalition’s brief argued.
"The entirety of federal and Ohio law on military voting is based around differentiating military voters and giving them more time," Carey told Lean Forward.
And in his own interview with Lean Forward, Hegseth called “offensive” the lawsuit’s claim that giving the military special voting accommodations is arbitrary.
But by dismissing the Obama campaign’s lawsuit, an appeals court could nonetheless ensure that civilians are unable to vote in the three days before the election, throwing up a hurdle in front of hundreds of thousands of Ohio voters who have used those days in past years. And not all of the coalition’s members appear to be on board with that outcome.
“We have no problem at all if every citizen has full early voting rights,” John Goheen, a spokesman for the National Guard Association told Lean Forward. “We just want to make sure that members of the military have full rights to vote.”
Asked why his group was involved in an effort that could reduce early voting for millions, Goheen was philosophical.
“When these things start, you don’t know where they're really headed,” he said. “Like any motion which a whole lot of organizations have signed on to, we don’t necessarily agree with every word choice.”

Pig Romney is using 9/11 ,a Day Of Remembrance.., to spout MORE POLITICAL BULL@!$%#!..just like George W Bush used to do do, despite the fact that 9/11 happened on Bush's watch!..and in his speech, Pig Romney mis speaks and says We must steer America OUT of the path of prosperity, freedom," etc.. the truth WILL out, won't it,Pig Romney, because that's EXACTLY what would happen if Re PIG LIcans come back to power!
Everything the Republicans do is phony.
I can't wait to cram "4 more years" down their throats! Romney's gonna find out fast and embarrassingly hard, you can't lie and flip/flop your way out of a debate with President Obama.....You are right Jimi, the truth will come out.
Marty - you'll won't be smiling when all the new taxes are crammed down your throat! This is not representative government but this is what you liberal/socialist pigs want for this country. Obama can't make a coherent sentence without a teleprompter, the only way he will look good is if the MSM covers for him and the American people are aware just how biased they are. Obama is a lying incompetent failure and the people who support him show how stupid the American populace has become!
And you post shows just how stupid you are. As if we needed any more proof.
Idiot.
sullyman..............why do you call names. that shoes your brain is missing. as for taxes they are the lowest since the 1950's. we need to pay for this country if ya don't want to pay higher taxes then leave the country. your unpatriotic and unamerican. either were all in this together or we have 50 separate countries. all i can tell you is mexico has lower taxes. not to far away. maybe you can move there.
dji - you call me out for calling names but say nothing to Jimi Lala. Learn how to spell and learn the true facts not what Ed and MSNBC tells you I'm more patriotic then you and the other socialist - liberals here ever will be.
SadChris - you talk like the punk you are!
Why silly was so patriotic he hid under his bed while GWB was sending young men and women into battle without the equipment needed to protect them, but hey silly cheered them on while he was hiding.
whom - you're such an idiot, grow up! I served in the military and you're still living in your mommy's basement!
Oh, wow. Sullen called me a punk. Shut me down. How will I respond to his racist hate and his endless lies now?
SadChris - by crying like you are doing now... LMAO!
Lets see silly is a right wing voter posting right wing repeats of garbage, lies and fake outrage on a left wing blog believing he is on a right wing blog while ignoring the blogs host is someone silly can't stand but gosh darn it silly's word is good. BOL
Mitt Romney is starting to look like a bad investment. Oh, the irony.
Maybe we can offshore him.
Not new....willard was never been a good investment.....I thought it was just grand they got stuck with him....I saw Santorum and Huntsman, as harder to beat. The circus just cranking out the surprises and the right wing nuts out smarted themselves. It is Glorious.....no one, not even the republican want this man. But some of the die hard republicans will talk them selves into voting for him. He lies to them, and he lies to everyone else, and most of all he lies to himself. They don't want you either willard.
The administration thanks the troops for their service by failing to comply with a law requiring that it help soldiers deployed overseas cast ballots in their home states.
The Obama administration has taken various states to court to block voter ID laws on the grounds it will disenfranchise voters. But it has no qualms about the disenfranchisement of military voters overseas through its failure to comply with and enforce the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act.

If he's a bad investment, I think we can just write him off. :)
Do a good deed this year and vote a Republican out of office!
I continue to truely wonder, and be amazed, at the lack of ethics and morality, behind all of this.
They lust for power. That's what it does to some people.
NAACP leader in MS convicted of voter fraud
Mitt Romney guilty of voter fraud.
The sham vote at the DNC to re-insert references to God and Jerusalem into the Democrats' platform shows us how they rig elections. The voice vote was to close to call. On the third try it definitely sounded like the Nays were in the majority. But it was passed anyway! It gives a great lesson in voter fraud by the Democrats done live on television. This is why they don’t want voter ID. If the election is close the Democrats will do whatever they can to steal the election! BTW people going into the DNC needed photo ID. How funny (and sad) is that?
This is just another way the GOP wants to go backwards on Voting Rights that so many died for. AMERICANS should just stand up to this craziness.
Not letting people stop the military from voting is the same as Romney saying he isn't going to take "god" off the money. No one's trying to. It's a fictitious fight.
Just like preventing voter fraud. There isn't any.
Other than Romney's, of course.
(Just like preventing voter fraud. There isn't any).LOL hahahahahaha
Maryland Democrat drops out of race after allegations of voter fraud
Wendy Rosen

Wendy Rosen, the Democratic candidate for Maryland's First Congressional District, dropped out of the race Monday after state party officials said she committed fraud by voting in both Maryland and Florida in recent elections.
"I have been proud to serve as the Democratic Congressional Candidate of Maryland's 1st Congressional District for the last five months, so it is with great regret, and much sorrow that I must resign," she said in an email to party officials.
"Personal issues have made this the hardest decision that I have had to make," she added.
Yvette Lewis, chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party, sent a letter to Attorney General Doug Gansler, asking for a "full investigation" of Rosen, the Washington Examiner reported.
"The Maryland Democratic Party has discovered that Ms. Rosen has been registered to vote in both Florida and Maryland since at least 2006; that she in fact voted in the 2006 general election both in Florida and Maryland; and that she voted in the presidential preference primaries held in both Florida and Maryland in 2008," Lewis said.
"This information is based on an examination of the voter files from both states. We believe that this is a clear violation of Maryland law and urge the appropriate office to conduct a full investigation," Lewis added.
An article at the Baltimore Sun said that Lewis registered in Florida "in order to support a 'very close friend' running for the St. Petersburg City Council and to vote on local issues there." Lewis also said she was allowed to register in Florida because she owned property there.
Rosen told The Sun that she did not remember if she voted in both states in the 2006 and 2008 elections.
The Washington Post said that local Democratic Party committees will meet to select a new candidate to face freshman GOP Rep. Andy Harris, who - according to all accounts - was set to beat Rosen in the November election.
Conservatives noted the irony of the situation.
"Democrats love to claim that voter fraud does not exist. That voter ID is not necessary. That voter ID is, in fact, voter suppression," Bryan Preston wrote at PJ Media.
"But suddenly Democrats have to admit that voter fraud exists. That's really going to dent the narrative," he added.
You are such a Tea Bag 'Metoo'-
Hahahahahahaha! There is this:
VOTER FRAUD UNMASKED! And, um, it's Mitt Romney committing it
byTheCrankFollow
Very interesting speculation from our friends across the pond at UK's Guardian, and it's more than idle speculation, about what exactly Mitt Romney is hiding on his tax returns.
We remember, I think, that Governor Romney sold his 6434 square foot Belmont mansionin 2009 and moved into a 3000-square foot condo.
Um, except he never moved into it, near as anyone can tell. Because that year, and the year after, Romney was living in his La Jolla mansion, you know, the one he wanted the $55,000 car elevator for. The house that cost them $12 million, and for which they wanted a demolition permit because the 3000 square feet wasn't big enough for them, so they could rebuild on the site.
Oh, the same house they applied for, and got, a $109,000 tax reduction because of the drop in real estate market. On which they claimed the California house as their primary residence.
And if they claimed the La Jolla address as their address in 2009, and January of 2010 -- when he claimed he was living in Tagg's basement, and registered, and voted in Massachussetts -- he is guilty of...voter fraud. More past the squiggle.
The Guardian explains it thus:
I'd also like to know what's on Mr. Romney's driver's license, that he has to present under the GOP's voting standards, to prove he's eligible to vote. The address, after all, must match his registration address.
Let's see those tax returns, Governor, and that Driver's License as well!
Speaking of which, we're STILL waiting to see your long form birth certificate. We know your Dad was a foreigner, so, by the Trump standard, the burden of proof is on you to produce it.
(update 1 for minor typos).
Update 2: User Litho adds in the comments this helpful text from California property lawabout claiming the homestead exemption for property taxes (emphasis provided by Litho):
We also need somebody who lives in San Diego to dig out the historical voter registration records for 2009-2010 and see if the Romneys registered to vote here, and if it's preserved anywhere, somebody in Mass to find his original voter registration record to find out what proof of residency he used, if any, and what his previous voting address was (this may also be available in San Diego since previous boards of elections are regularly notified as part of the current system when somebody registers in a new state.) Get to work, Kossacks!
Update 3: Hat tip to user Marigold for pointing out Mother Jones reported on this in June 2011, on legwork on a complaint originally filed by none other than GOP fringe candidate (but aren't they ALL fringe candidates) Fred Karger.
I reckon in the recent climate of "Voter Fraud" accusations by the GOP and the Voter ID / disenfranchisement movement this is time for a revival.
Whaddya say folks? Let's see what's on Mitt Romney's Driver's License. I wonder if he could pass the GOP's Photo ID test.
Update 4: From Fred Karger's old Presidential website itself, his complaint, which adds this to the brew:
And you know, if Eric Fehrnstrom is involved, they will just etch-a-sketch the Romneys to wherever the voting registration is going to look the best for right now.
Update 5: sorry for the series of updates here, but there are nuances. This information provided by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (dated July 2009) adds a couple of questions to the mix:
1. What proof of residency did the Romneys provide?
2. Were they subject to Massachusetts' voter ID laws as first-time voters (under a new registration address)? They were not eligible to vote absentee, if so.
Also:
In fairness, I add this tidbit as well:
This does make it very interesting with respect to implications for the Romney's earlier voting registrations and claims of residence (in, to recap, in reverse order, New Hampshire, California, Massachusetts, Utah, Massachusetts, and Michigan).
Update 6: OK, so this part is not additional evidence, but I just really really enjoyed the Conservative take on Romney moving to New Hampshire, circa 2009, if you want to know how his "base" really feels about him. From the blog Texans for Sarah Palin:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/08/17/1121401/-VOTER-FRAUD-UNMASKED-And-um-it-s-Mitt-Romney-committing-it
Republican's are trying to "Swift Boat" the voter's of Ohio.
Yep.
Nice try Metoo999, but these are two totally different situations and you know it. The voter id laws are absolutely designed for voter suppression. The devil is in the details as to which particular demographics are affected. It's a targeted effort by the GOP. Gloating about fraud committed by a Democrat does not negate the GOP's malicious actions to sway an election because they aren't confident enough in their ability to win.
whats wrong with voter id. If people can get out to vote, they can get an id. then some of the so called voter fraud will be settled
It's already settled. There's 3 1-millionths of a percent.
And voter ID will disenfranchise 5 million voters. What's the bigger problem?
Voter ID laws are the same as voter suppression. Voter suppression is based on an agenda of bigotry, racism, and hatred. Go read the Voter Rights Act of 1965 and the 24th Amendment to the Constitution. Poll taxes or other taxes for voting are unconstitutional period. Florida has also reduced the number of days of voting and made the ballot in some places up to eight or ten pages long. This too is also a form of interfering with the right to vote. Ballots should be short and simple to understand not lengthy or complicated.
I so damned sick and tired of right winged GOP morons trying to abridge people's right to vote. Anyone who tries to suppress the right of another person's legal right to vote should make all Americans furious. Voter ID laws are "Jim Crow-Lite" and if you can not see this then you really are an ignorant stupid person. The GOP ought to be ashamed of themselves for suppressing the vote in states all across America. There is nothing more hateful, despicable, vile, or immoral or anti-American than suppressing the right to vote in any manner.
Most black voters have ID, but they also have outstanding warrants, so they are afraid to show ID
Racist filth.
It is a fact
Prove it.
This group is the same group that hosted Mitt Romney in Reno, NV today, the National Guard Assn, a private group.
2012...the year of the last hurrah for the Republican party...now on its deathbed...determined to cover itself in a shroud of filth as the grim reaper approaches.
{the Republican party is dead. long live the Republican party.}
As an American, this really hurts me - Perhaps I am naive about this - the heart of our Democracy is the right to vote - if the Republicans succeed in killing this right- then we are no longer a Democracy. I don't know what we would be - but we wouldn't be a Democracy. And the fact that this is aimed not just at Democrats, but at minorities is really sickening. It reminds me of that saying Neimoller said to Congress:"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—
and there was no one left to speak out for me."
We must all speak out against this - or our votes will be meaningless.
Unfortunatley it is aimed at all Americans, and no American should stand for it. This election must be won by Barack Obama to put the tea party, religious nuts, racists and the conservatives back in their closets. Since the America they want is not for the 21st century, and there is no way this country can move forward if they get a real foothold.
I'm just so tired of the Republican corruption I could scream!!!!!!!!!!
It's kind of sad when you think of it. Instead of listening to the people who elect them and voting accordingly, republicants figure the easiest way is just to make sure those who would disagree, simply can't vote. I am 43 years old, and have never seen such widespread disregard for the very constitution they claim to love and defend. How did we slip so far off the path of democracy as to stop disagreeing, to stop debating, and just toe the line of the corporate interests of alec. Do people like the fact that if they work over 40 hours they have to be paid time and a half? Do we like the fact we get a paid break at work? Do we like the fact that were no longer discriminated against simply because we have breast?
On the flip side of this, how could any person in good conscience and love of their country vote republicant? This party is so far to the far they are in left field waiting for the soccer ball. But they still need that vote for their side, they voted against Lilly Ledbetter, giving women the right to seek compensatory damages when her wage is less than her male counter workers for the same work performed. A wonderful issue that affects every woman who pays bills yet, they, the can't claim there is no war on women, were voting for jobs jobs jobs,(abortion, abortion, abortion). Talk about double talk.
Terri - i agree with what you said, but companies are already getting around the mandated breaks in the work day, the overtime requirement, and many other things that the unions did to make our lives better. The last company i worked for did not provide breaks during the workday (except for an unpaid 30 minute lunch) because we were "salary" employees. if i missed an hour of work, that was deducted from my pay unless i had PTO, but i was a "salary" employee and therefore wasn't entitled to a 15 minute break in the morning or afternoon.
"When you forget the past, you are doomed to repeat it." This is what will happen if the republicans are able to instill their agenda. we'll go right back to the wild west mentality and lassiez faire capitalism of the late 19th century, complete with poll taxes (what most voter ID laws are in effect), no unions (therefore no worker rights), and a legal system best defined by 'Stand your ground' (shoot first and lie about what happened in order to legalize murder). This overlooks their agenda to legislate Christian theocracy into the constitution by adding personhood amendments (makign abortion and birth control illegal) and DOMA the law of the land. These phonies even claim they love the constitution while enacting their theocratic oligarchy. My wife would be sentenced to life in prison due to her IUD, and i highly doubt that vascetomies would be legal if they get their way (we're planning on me getting snipped before her IUD would have to be replaced because our kids are 12 and 15 and we don't want/can't afford more kids).
i'm so disgusted/enraged with the christian Taliban in this country that i'm likely to give myself a heart attack before the election...
I served in the military for 20 years to protect a system of government that allows all Americans to exercise their rights, especially their right to vote. I am especially talking about the poor, minorities, college students, and others who may not drive or who live in lower socioeconomic conditions. Its really important to me that the black preachers in Ohio get to vote en mass on Sunday with their congregations. I am a middle aged white guy but I want nothing to interfere with those blacks going to the polls on Sunday in Ohio period. I worry most about the people in these groups getting their rights stomped on by corporate special interests. What the GOP has done to try and suppress the vote is absolutely despicable and contrary to the laws and Constitution of this country. Take a look at the 24th Amendment and the 1965 Voter's Right Act.
I believe in a viable two party system. In the long run the Republicans are better served by having as many people vote as possible period because this is a referendum on where they are at as a party. If the Republicans lose big time in 2012 then they can reform and rebuild themselves better in 2014 or 2016 by talking to real people and serving their needs rather than the needs or corporations or just the wealthy. By getting their ass stomped into the ground this time the GOP will become a better party in later elections because the current Republican party is on suicidal path of their own destruction. Younger Republicans will get sick and tired of losing elections and be forced back into the center and reject extremist right winged ideology based on hatred and racism. Republicans should be promoting a new vision of articulating how the public sector and the private sector can work together to build a better society by a partnership and cooperation. This process of creatives destruction requires that all people get out and vote. Suppressing the vote serves the interests of the plutocrats and not the general welfare of we the people of the United States. Corporations are not people, people who live in America are who matter.
As a Democrat I want to see a strong Republican party that serves the needs of working class and poor people by pushing a pro-jobs agenda that puts people to work by giving them opportunities. Why not close down all those Cayman Islands tax shelters and start investing in public-private corporations here at home to build infrastructure, green energy, and other jobs or training programs so that companies get the workers that they need? If we formed private-public corporations the wealthy could invest in government tax free bonds that paid interest. We could build jobs, infrastructure, and green energy jobs that our country needs to compete in the 21st century global economy. We need to build the economy from the middle class out not from the top down. We need the Republican party from Eisenhower's time that put country first not corporations. I hope that by getting your butts kicked this election that Republicans need to look at Eisenhower or Gerald Ford for inspiration of country first and reject the selfish agenda of right winged swine like Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, and other right winged swine and their corporatist hogwash that serves an elite, rather than we the people of the United States.
How much did the Koch brothers and the GOP pay these people to do this, I am a veteran and the
president didn’t do this, this is a republican political stunt.
Voting, has never been so important, We shall not Yield.
Voting with heavy ballots reminded me about the ancient joke told about Spartan coinage, where centuries later Plutarch (in about AD 100); "The Spartans; assuming that its representative value ought to be its true value; Plutarch 'believed' it would require a horse and cart to transfer an amount appropriate for even the most modest transaction."
If we cannot remember history we will repeat it. I have called the 2012 Election the "Last Election" because the public is so bombarded with distractions and novelties that we no longer look before we cross a street. We are well on our way to voting ourselves of a country. The whole sale national corruption of the voting process.
Most voter registration rolls are set by house number, street address, name, and the list is prepared in advance. There's two poll workers one from the registrar and the other a police officer. Your present yourself at each desk, and give address and name, a check mark suffices to show that you appeared, and the same is done at separate desk and again a check mark show you appeared. Yes if were to appear and find that you'd already voted, there would be problem. If you had died, then you would not appear to be voting, and if you did having the named deceased next your name would not enhance your credibility. The point is that you may want a fool proof system, but then only fools would be voting, and such is the case.
It is common wisdom that reducing voting has had long and colorful history, but this presupposes the public would tolerate it just short of manila rope.
Now we have Governor Rick (Medicare Fraud) Scott represent the puerile behavior of a ten year old. If is not this, then it is that, if not the third thing it then something else. Governor MF Scott, is just one of a couple of dozen Republican governors, who for reasons of habitual corruption, have actively sought to suppress the vote, in novel ways, believing that state have the authority to corrupt the system, far beyond kissing babies.
The ten page ballot Florida ballot, has now appeared it its full ugliness, it is intend to stuff the ballot box, to press the suppression in reduced voting hours, to prepare long delays at the voting places, and to make it impossible to vote, to make counting votes problematic, to break scanning machines worn out by the tally. Then to lose ballots in the mail, to have trucks breaking down en route to or from the ballot box, the voting public is still looking for Chad while waiting to be "Had". One wonders if the ballots aren't made of bath tissue paper, and printed with washable ink, just in case a truck dives into the bayou, maybe a gallon of spilt mike won just glue the 10 pages to gather. Is the ballot a butterfly with 10 wings, ten pages perforated and hinged, ten pages stabled, mutilated and folded.
The bottom potty talk comes with a new requirement that a two pound envelope be used for the five pound ballot.
One can see that the voting machinery in state Florida is becoming jammed, deliberately, and we have to speculate at this very, very late date to see if we are going to be subject to another Florida Amusement Park ride called "Tilt-the-voting-whirl", more of the same 2000, 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2012. Pick a year, place your bets, and here we go again, spin the voter, head we win tails you lose.
We should have started boycotting Florida's Disney World, the moment we saw those Tea Cups flying with the Saucers. The pot may be black and the tea kettle hot, but face is mess with cotton candy. The adult Republican children running the polls will have the last laugh, and you will face with telling your children that you arrived too late for their favorite ride. Election Fraud 101.
The lateness of the days soon progressing into the hours and generalized fraud being perpetrated on the gullible voter, all voters, means only one thing, the plotter and the planners for the "Last Election" of the American exceptional experience is democracy is at end, having been out witted by deceit, distraction, and cash from names, places and sources that we cannot contest 10 seconds after the deed is done.
Voting this election is Final?
I am in earnest – I will not equivocate – I will not excuse – I will not retreat a single inch – AND I WILL BE HEARD. - William Lloyd Garrison, 1805 -1879.
I am aware that many object to the severity of my language; but is there not cause for severity? I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or to speak, or write, with moderation. No! No! Tell a man whose house is on fire to give a moderate alarm; tell him to moderately rescue his wife from the hands of the ravisher; tell the mother to gradually extricate her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; – but urge me not to use moderation in a cause like the present. I am in earnest – I will not equivocate – I will not excuse – I will not retreat a single inch – AND I WILL BE HEARD. The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal, and to hasten the resurrection of the dead.
This is ridiculous. There is only an effort to extend early voting to all people not to 'limit' voting for anyone.
The driving force behind this effort on behalf of these 'military' organizations is to promote the republicans attempt to steal the election and it must not succeed.
If you have to cheat, it simply means your policies aren't any good, otherwise you wouldn't need to cheat! And these are the same Republicans who think they are the patriots, yet they are trying to steal an American election! These folks need to go to jail! Expose them first as this article tries, then put them away!
This issue should be against the Law.The Republicans will do anything to screw the American people, lie cheat, steal and yes buy the Election.Anything to win, at all cost. I know Lying Ryan is from WI.He tells one lie after the other.I don't think he knows any different. He is a Pathological Liar.
cant you guys trust report the truth ever ? why is it always a liberal view instead of just the truth. You guys are so obvious in your corrupt truth twisting liberal media ways it makes me sick ! You take advantage of my people ? You filll their minds with lies and instead od facts. Not everyone is this country is incapable of making decisions based on facts but you spoon feed us all this nonsense hoping we will follow you like cattle and supper time.
Somehow I don't think your name fits your post. Not too coherent there buddy.
You think like cattle. Why should you behave any differently.
i'm thinking the last time the did thiswitht he military a church was bombed in alabama, and the schools refuse to segregate... wow, maybe the bible is right.. there is nothing new under the sun..
If the SOBs want to curtail voting rights, they should man up and do it equally across the board. Hard to imagine a Republican party that doesn't even acknowledge military service in wars during their convention actually gives a crap about the military at all.
upstate -
The administration thanks the troops for their service by failing to comply with a law requiring that it help soldiers deployed overseas cast ballots in their home states.
The Obama administration has taken various states to court to block voter ID laws on the grounds it will disenfranchise voters. But it has no qualms about the disenfranchisement of military voters overseas through its failure to comply with and enforce the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act.

Lies, propaganda and SPAM.
Sullyman: Do everyone a favor and shove your right winged garbage where the sun won't shine. What the hell are you talking about Sullyman? The military services all have in place programs that ensure that all service members deployed or in garrison can vote in their state elections. In fact, the military will appoint an officer in every unit to register soldiers months before the election so they can get ballots to vote in their home state elections and those ballots get turned in promptly and counted by state election officials. The military has been around for over 200 years and these problems have been worked out very efficiently before right wingers were ever even born on this earth. I voted in many elections while serving overseas and my ballots and my wife's ballots were always counted. The military voting system works just fine. There is absolutely no need for the state GOP in Ohio to reinvent the wheel for military voting. The military by federal law is already required to have efficient and effective programs in place to ensure that all active duty, Guard, and Reserve servicemen and women get their vote counted. This military system works very well.
The state GOP in Ohio is making up a bogus straw man argument to justify their voter suppression in Ohio. Governor Kasich is clearly in violation of the 1965 Voter Rights act so the Obama campaign has every right and a responsibility to sue in federal court. We need to make sure that those black ministers in Ohio can rally their congregation to vote after services on Sunday with no hassles, no long lines, and plenty of polls manned by trained election officials to serve them on Sunday. This is what America is all about and why soldiers defend America. The state GOP in Ohio, including Governor Kasich, has no justification to restrict people's voting rights or their reduce the number of early voting days period. The state GOP wants to suppress the vote making it more difficult for voters in predominantly Democratic leaning districts and precincts have less time to vote. The 2004 election in Ohio was a disaster that was criticized in Congressional hearings. Expanded days for voting in 2008 worked well with few glitches. The only reason the state GOP in Ohio wants to reduce the numbers voting days is to help suppress the number of voters on election day. The GOP in Ohio are one of the most bigoted, racist, vile, and despicable organizations with their ALEC sponsored voter suppression drive. Copy and past this Brennan Center for Justice website newsletter for updates on the Ohio state voting squabbles.

I'm even MORE amazed at how RomneyHood can lie WITHOUT a straight face, and people still believe him.....?
Black - Obama has been doing it for 4 years!
The sham vote at the DNC to re-insert references to God and Jerusalem into the Democrats' platform shows us how they rig elections. The voice vote was too close to call.
No sadder than your perpetual propaganda.
Rex - just like the DNC is making a bogus straw man argument about the made-up issue of voter suppression. It doesn't matter what the military does if the states do not send out the ballots in time for them to be returned before the deadline. I was in the military and you don't sound like a vet. You sound like the other liberal hacks on this site!
Once again silly has made the mistake of thinking he is on a right wing blog. Even funnier is silly hates the Ed show so really who is the heck here, why silly of course.
whom - who is the 'heck'here? Another ignorant post in a long line of ignorant posts!
Sullyman: I am retired from the Army and say whatever I feel like after 20 years on active duty being at FT Riley, FT Hood, and a couple of tours overseas including the 1st ID in Desert Storm. I support President Obama unashamedly. I call people like you very poor Americans because all Americans should want all other citizens to vote. All states have some type of identification or proof of residence such as a utility bill, when registering to vote. The right to vote is sacred, Ohio has no right to restrict voting rights or reduce the number of days after successfully seeing how the vote was carried out in 2008, 2010, and for the primaries in 2012. You GOP hogwash does not fly on this blog. If you don't like it go away and shut up.
