Republican candidate for president Mitt Romney has suddenly changed his tune on which Americans he believes he represents.
"This is a campaign about the 100%," Romney said while speaking Wednesday night in Florida at a Univision-sponsored forum at the University of Miami.
That remark stands in contrast to the comments made by Romney at a May fundraiser in Florida in which he was secretly recorded saying he'd never win over 47% of the electorate due to their "dependence upon government" and inability to take personal responsibility. These comments came to light this week after liberal magazine Mother Jones released the tape.
The Romney campaign has sought to turn the controversy into a discussion on the government's role in society and the economy. But Romney had not directly backed away from the 47% figure until now.
The candidate went on to repeat the "100%" phrase several times during Wednesday's event.
"My campaign is about the 100% in America and I'm concerned about them," he said.
"I've demonstrated my capacity to help the 100%," Romney later added.
At a Florida campaign event, the Republican candidate also seemed interested in casting a wider—more inclusive—net for his campaign.
"That's how America works. We have big hearts. We care for people who have needs. We help lift them up," Romney said. "But then we don't make that a permanent lifestyle."
So a slight GOP-inspired hedge on words President Obama lobbed at Romney only the day before on late-night TV.

Too little too late......the cat's already out of the bag, Mitt. We heard how you REALLY feel - no backtracking on that!
Agreed.
Romney pivots nearly every day, if not more often. Romney panders to whatever audience he is in front of. We all know that by now. Whatever he says is not to be believed. However, there is a hint of scorn for the 47% that comes through fairly often, so what he said in May is probably what he really thinks.
As evidence of that, I would say that he chose his words pretty carefully in what he has said in lieu of apology.
The only way that "100%" correlates to Mitt Romney is this: he is 100% liar.
Ms Simons..Romney is 100% behind the 1% he represents. Is that helpful? I am having valium and vodka soup again for lunch. Helps me to understand Mitt a lot better. Did you know he is really funny? hahahahahahaha...
Just another day in your in your own mind, Mr. Romney am sure by tomorrow you will have a different belief. Who do you think you're fooling.
As much as I am enjoying watching Mittstake after Mittstake in all this (and I really do love it), I am awaiting the moment of sheer bliss when he has to step up to a microphone and give his condolence speech and I will get to see the look on his face as it sets in that he is done FOREVER in American politics, that he will FOREVER be irrelevant to the American people and the world......and coming in a close second is all those fat cats who have blown many, many, many millions on this idiots monumental crash! BYE-BYE Mitt, we won't miss you - not even a little Mitt!
Mr. Romney, funny you how you decided to have a heart after we learned that your family actually had government help, that you were so against, I guess your family benefited from that.
I saw Ann Romney on the tv machine yesterday. Boy did she look and sound awful. I can tell she has never had to defend her husband like this " Mitt loves everybody"... "Mitt is golden".. "Mitt pays his taxes." "Mitt has a personality"....sucks to be Ann.
He was for the 1% before he was for the 53% and against the 47% before he was for the 100%. Strange arithmetic.
What is sad is the fact that A LOT of the 47% will fall for this load of BS!
ITs crazy to think that people really want to vote for him. Fux news and Mittwitt, Down you go...........
MItten don't start lying again to make yourself look good(your statements are public RECORD NOW
