The Nationals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 Thursday night to secure a spot in the MLB playoffs for the first time in Washington, D.C., baseball history since 1933.
The win came before a hometown crowd in the District, which celebrated with fireworks at "The Nats" stadium.
The last D.C.-based team to play in the post-season were the now defunct Washington Senators.
