A new poll out this week by Bloomberg showed that Mitt Romney would lose a popularity contest to President George W. Bush, who was one of the most unpopular departing presidents in U.S. history when he left office four years ago.
Forty-three of respondents to the Bloomberg poll viewed Romney favorably, compared to 46% who said they view Bush in a favorable light. Additionally, 50% viewed Romney unfavorably, while 49% held an unfavorable view of Bush.
Romney has skirted around mentioning the former president by name along the campaign trail, going as far as to merely refer to Bush as Obama's "predecessor."
Meanwhile, Gallup called September one of the best months for President Obama in more than year after his job approval rating consistently polled at 50% or above and registered voters favored him over Romney 50% to 44% last week.
The president is also polling ahead in nine battleground states, according to the most recent NBC News, The Wall Street Journal and Marist polling. The latest round of polls showed Obama leading Romney by seven points among likely voters in New Hampshire, and ahead within the margin of error in both North Carolina and Nevada.
The president's average percentage in these nine battleground states rank him at 49.5% compared to Romney's 44%.

If you think about it, this should not suprise. President Bush has greatly passed from the memory of many and his blunders and his inept policies are off of the radar - except that everyone knows that this "age of troubles" was caused by his Administration. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, seems to embrace the ideas and the staff that were known for being instrumental during the Bush Administration. So, why would anyone have a good feeling about a Romney Presidency, except for those who fully desire to make DC into a parking lot.
I guess the rnc can finally lift their restraining order against GW..we haven't seen nor heard much from him since he left office. He wasnt even invited to speak at their convention. Obviously to distant him from their party in hopes of winning this election and to blame pres obama as if we all dont have a memory.
Apparently some memories are very distant from the facts. When Bush left office the budget was not passed by the senate or house because they were Democratic controlled. It was not until AFTER Obama took office that a budget bill was passed and it was a democratic budget passed by House and Senate and signed by Obama. It was not a Bush budget! All the woe is me's about the Bush deficit causing Obama's problems is bull. It was his bill, his 4 trillion dollar deficit as verses Bushes 1 Trillion Deficit when he left office. It was the Democrats that controlled the Senate (Barny Frank) that slammed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on the people and refused to reign in the abusive funding of unqualified people to buy houses.
Yes, it appears that there is a lack of memory, but not by many republicans that can read and know the truth. Blame Obama for the last 4 years, they are all his, Bush is not and has not been in control since Obama was elected and the lame duck session of the Democratic party.
Pretty easy, can you say 2 wars that weren't on the books and a bank bailout? I Was a Republican until it was obvious the crash was going to happen in 2007. You can't pull that one on me. I used to argue the same points
Historians will write about the Bush administration as a time of American decline for the middle class. The two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq cost $4 trillion long term. The two Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 have added at least $2 trillion so far to our national debt plus interest. The 2008 Great Recession was caused by GOP deregulation such as repealing the 1932 Glass-Steagall Act by the GOP sponsored Graham-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. Mortgaged backed securities that were highly leveraged with borrowed money led to the phenomenon of the "too big to fail" banks that occurred when the speculative Wall Street money schemes went bust right along with the real estate bubble. The Federal Reserve was forced to give loan guarantees of $16 trillion with a "T" to keep the entire American financial system from imploding.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and Bush's Secretary of the Treasury Hank Paulson need to be given credit for the success of TARP and the other bailouts including putting Freddie and Fannie into conservatorship authority by the Federal Housing Finance Agency back in 2008.

GOP supply side economic policies led directly to the huge decline we saw in the 2008 Great Recession. Many factors went into the 2008 Great recession but what is clearly known is that deregulation of the big Wall Street investment banks does not work. All that happens are that profits are guaranteed for the elite while the middle class gets stuck with the liability of bailouts. The GOP Bush era was a sweet deal for the plutocrats. But for all the rest us, all we got were increasing wealth inequality, a stagnant economy, the worst recession since 1929, and deep systemic budget problems with trillion dollar deficits. I also forgot to mention two failing wars that caused 5,000 killed and 50,000 wounded with tens of thousands more veterans with debilitating brain trauma and PTSD injuries . If I were a Republican I would hide from the Bush era too!
The problem is Romney lacks charisma. The word charisma - the power to charm and inspire is from the Greek word charis meaning grace, unmerited and undeserved favour.
16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:16, 17 ESV).
When you have grace you show compassion for all and not 53% of the population.
Which raises the question -- did Mr. Romney while his tenure at Bain Capital, or Bain Capital in general harvest enough interest to have made investments in any veteran owned companies of veterans holding stock of 51 percent or more; or any women owned companies, or minority owned companies over the life of Bain? I'm surprised that this question has not reached mainstream news. After all, Mr. Romney's whole persona has been about saving the American people from a life of poverty. I'd say let the historical records show the outcomes of Bain's true interest in America as she appears. Let's see does Mr. Romney's heart reflect the demographics of America -- or has he and Bain been long engaged in lopsided investment deals.
Too Often Guilt Cowers At Accountability...
It does not cease to amaze me that there are a segment of people and entities in life who for some self-important ungodly portrayal of themselves, believe that through their own SELF-RIGHTEOUS IDEOLOGIES OR MISCALCULATIONS they should be above the pale of liability for any transgression, ills or tragedies they commit. Hence it goes without saying that too often "GUILT COWERS AT ACCOUNTABILITY."
So whether such guilt shines through the WICKEDNESS OF A FREE PRESS, the corruption of a deceitful afflicted government; or the feebleness of somebody who passed an opportunity to correct a wrong, yet again GUILT COWERS AT ACCOUNTABILITY my friends.
And it goes without saying people and entities that do unfounded-unspeakable harm to others might be just as heinous in defending such acts, just as delusional in finding a true pathway toward forgiveness, and just as imprudent in assenting to the difference.
Guilt cowers at accountability. STRENGTH ON THE OTHER HAND fosters the truth, seeks forgiveness through an utter OUTSPOKENNESS of the harm brought to others, and secures one's redemption for the wrongs that he or she has committed.
It's okay to forgive but in doing so doesn't mean that crimes should go unpunished, or mistakes be swept beneath the carpet; no matter to which you are, where you've come or where you plan on going.
~ GUILT COWERS AT ACCOUNTABILITY. Know this to be true.
to be honest the American people (at least those are looking) aren't buying what the modern Republican party is selling
