Republicans have stopped registering voters in five states, following new allegations of voter registration fraud by a controversial company hired and paid for by the Republican National Convention.
The RNC shouldn’t be surprised, either. The firm, Strategic Allied Consulting, was formed in June by Nathan Sproul at their request, after they suggested Sproul form a new company to better distance himself from previous allegations of registration irregularities that Sproul’s outfits had incurred in previous elections.
“In order to be able to do the job that the state parties were hiring us to do, the [RNC] asked us to do it with a different company’s name, so as to not be a distraction from the false information put out in the Internet,” Sproul told the Los Angeles Times.
The publicity they speak of? Allegations that Sproul's firm illegally destroyed Democratic voter registrations in the 2004 and 2008 elections. That's illegal, though no charges were filed in either year.
It's worth being clear: Voter registration fraud isn't voter fraud. When someone writes "Mickey Mouse" on a registration form, the Disney character doesn't show up at the polls. But in those cases, it was alleged that Sproul's group deliberately discarded forms filled out by Democrats, meaning that when those would-be voters showed up at the polls on Election Day, they wouldn't be registered. That's less about fraud, and more about suppressing the vote.
Now, Sproul’s new group is accused of falsifying registrations in Florida. And as a result the RNC has fired the group, meaning it'll end its voter registration efforts in five states, just a week before most state's registration periods end.
“You wonder what priority they were giving voter registration ... if they were giving it all to this one company,” The Washington Post’s E.J. Dionne told The Rachel Maddow Show host Rachel Maddow.
“I don’t remember anything like this—except for ACORN,” Dionne added. But he suggested this is worse.
“ACORN themselves had called attention to the voter registrations and they disciplined themselves, and yet this was a big scandal and they lost a whole lot of money and they had to go out of business," Dionne said. "Why isn’t this the same thing for conservatives?”

Imagine that. I helped my mom and dad with their motor voter registrations 6 weeks ago. Dad got his card but mom is no where to be found even though both were sent together and both had ID's issued in the State. Called the County no record, resent the info online, but am taking them out to the county in person on Wed. Take heed Americans, these games have to stop.
Well, the Republicans are a schizophrenic lot, and a bit of a bunch of hypocrites. They like things, except when they don't; THEY like to talk about policy, but don't like it when Dems do, they like to talk about peoples' struggles, except when Democrat do; they like to talk about details, except when Democrats do; they like to talk about "coming up from nothing" except when Democrats do. So, I guess it follows that they ignore voter fraud, except when they think Democrats are involved. Kind of gives me whiplash, trying to follow that ball across the court.
Do you really think this will stop them? Bring a country to it's knees, people will do anything to survive. They don't have the luxury of considering that what they are doing is against their own best interests.
There is a notification that the Republicans wants to delay voters registration to my able to rig the election in favor of their nominee Governor Romney. Obama, and the democrats should take serious notice of these plans. Any mistakes made may be so difficult to amend, and the republican knows about this.

If you had seen the video's on tv displaying people with billy clubs forcing people to leave and not vote why wouldnt you want to make sure that didnt happen again.
You are right it is a shame that we had an election that allowed these people to do that - they had them on tape and they were never prosecuted..
So, I ask you if the Republican party did the same thing would you be for making sure people who were legally registered to vote. Or would you just stand by and allow the same person to run a campaign and do the same thing again.
We as a country have got to start making the honest people get to vote not the people who vote to get the benefits that they are not even entitled.

The 'the video's on tv displaying people with billy clubs forcing people to leave and not vote' was in Philadelphia and a single member of the racist New Black Panther Party who was escorted away from the polling place by police. In some people's mind this has blown up into a massive intimidation effort by Obama's black supporters that overthrew the election and defeated the 'legitimate' president. Stop watching Fox and get your news form at least ONE other source.

Thanks to video, we have watched countless statements over the past several years of Romney taking opposite views to every major issue depending on which state and which group he is addressing...and you think he will be an "honest President"? I especially enjoyed the video of his own mother applauding this great country that gave Mitt's dad, George, welfare and educational grants that was instrumental in his success when he came to the USA from Mexico as a young man...yet Mitt accuses those who receive any benefits, even though earned through taxes, as lazy and undeserving. In Sept., in the Tampa Bay Times, I read a horrfic story of a lilttle girl of 11 discovered to be pregnant as a result of a brutal rape by her mother's boyfriend (who was later killed by police in a standoff). I hope her 8-10 week pregnancy was terminated, if that was her wish after being counseled by her mother, medical and child psychologists who have HER health and mental well being in mind - NOT a pollitician or the likes of "nadejo" who have no interest in this 11 year old child and the future of unwanted babies that will most probably end up in the welfare system that he & Republicans want to abolish. As for nadejo's "christian nation", I suggest he/she read (probably for the 1st time) our constitution with regard to no specific religion being the law of our land. If we look at the violence and misery in the middle east, for example, we see the results of religions preventing peace and prosperity for it's people.
