Early voting began in Ohio on Tuesday morning. Obama supporters camped out overnight at polling stations around the state, as part of state Democrats' "sleep out the vote" effort. Early turnout bodes well for the president because, as Ed Schultz pointed out on Tuesday's The Ed Show, "early voters tend to favor Democrats."
In Lucas County, in the north part of Ohio, turnout on the first day of early voting nearly doubled from 2008's numbers. Of Tuesday's 928 voters, 696 were Democrats, while only 40 were Republicans. The Obama campaign has 96 field offices in the state, while Romney's team has just 36.
Early voting tends to be hugely important in Ohio. In 2008, 30 percent of voters got in their ballots before Election Day. This year the number could total 40 percent, said Schultz. According to the auditor of Ohio's Johnson County, a whopping 55 percent of voters in that region voted early in the last presidential election. He says "demand for early ballots so far is up significantly from 2008," according to CNN.
Schultz cautioned against excessive optimism, however. "Beware: Michael Dukakis had the lead before the election in 1988," he said. "This is a long haul."

NO.......... good NEWS for Romney........ yes........
Don't hold your breath on that one. Obama/Biden 2012. Even in Ohio.
Romney reminds me of a 9th grader on his first date when he's on stage.
@dem4rommmney34 I just LOVE ANGRY WHITE PEOPLE!
And your facts are based on what? Your delusional mind?
Romey won alright outstanding best liar performance he should win an Emmy. I wonder what Romey he will be on the next debate. A lot of attacks and no real plan.
Great News For Obama and Biden !! The 47 % and the 99 % are so fed up with Republican dirty tricks ( in their haste to destroy Democracy and gain absolute power ) that they will turn out in droves this year and Obama / Biden / and a Democratic Majority will be swept into office on a tsunami of American push back.
The Real Obama.....Wez yo dollas?
I don't understand why people cannot vote just on election day! I feel it could allow cheating. I guess when you don't need to show an ID any thing could happen. Funny how things started changing in 2008 isn't it.....
LOL
are you really trying to be serious?
@wilson86: Dude, are you truly trying to be serious? Do you NOT remember the hanging chads fiasco and the the way the then conservative Supreme Court gave the election to Bush and stole it from Gore? Seriously? AMAZING long-term memory loss there..stop huffing canned air and do some dam research before you spout out about your lack of knowledge. FFS.
Ahh yes once again it is shown that a great ground game is better then a hail Mary blind blitz air attacks.
but still have to control the line of scrummage and dominate!
Early voting should be revamped with employee accommodations and stricter guidelines and reasons other than, " I don't have/want to stand in line come November..." It undermines the campaign process... plus, it takes away from the significance of the day, kinda like having xmas a month earlier just to avoid the rush... This is the most important process/day for our nation.. I think some people tend to forget that...
Which is what the GOP wants to do limit voters because as a rule more voters mean less republicans in office. There are exceptions to the rule that tea bagged republicans love to display but that is just a lying tactic they use to hide why they want ID laws to stop a problem they can't find.
well Whom....it's amazing how laws are only good if they benefit republicans....especially tax laws...............oh....xmas came real early for the 47%....they saw Robme as he is and he ain't no Santa of the middle class.........
Yeah cause robme is so compassionate to 1% of the country, its the other 99% he can't stand. LOL
I know Whom....we should stop that as the queen said. after all his(Robme) sanity is at test....ohhh my ribs.........
oh on that 47% Robme complains about....just curious cause I know he don't want his taxes revealed and won't.... but how much income tax did he pay? last I heard capital gains is a whole different animal of the so called job creators......
also a reflection why Ohio is out early votin could be....why did Robme want years of tax returns of lyin Ryan to vest him and the 47% can't vest Robme's years of tax returns??????????
sick , Isn't it amazing that "you people" claim that you want smaller government and then turn around and attempt to impose more government control on voting rights ? So , which is it - either 1 or the other , "you people" are really Crazy ! And this is only 1 topic of all of "you 2 facer's" !
so are the right wing liars and imbeciles going to show us evidence of their lies that president obama is passing out iphones for votes.
i suspect not. liars and imbaciles are exactly that. they are low life scumbags who have no honor or morals. unfortunately, they call themselves "christians"; but god is not mocked!
hooray for ohio early voting! if the republican scum machine tries to obstruct voting they will be caught before they can do much damage.
"christians"????????? in name only...................must be a biggy timber in their eyes............
Early voting is a wonderful thing. Poor people and working class people with families have more time to get to the polls. Ohio had a disastrous 2004 election with long lines, not enough polling machines, and overall a difficult time for citizens to cast their ballots. We need to have longer voting periods in all states across America. We need to understand that the more people get a chance to vote the more our country's democracy is strengthened.
We should also look at voting by mail which is the best solution for our election process. The USPS needs a better business plan and relief from having to pay onerous employee retirement benefits upfront. So overall early voting is a godsend for our country but voting by mail is the way to go. It also outflanks any GOP attempts at trying to suppress the vote by Voter ID or other means of suppressing the vote such as cutting back on the number of voting days in big states like Florida.
If you want to do what is best for the country, we need to adopt a voting by mail system. Then we need to adopt Nancy Pelosi's idea of outlawing all corporate money in our election system with public financing for all federal and state elections. We need to have all public funding for elections plus amend the Constitution to overturn the horrible "Citizen's United" ruling. Leader Pelosi has this one correct.
"We should also look at voting by mail which is the best solution for our election process"
well here in Oregon and i understand Washington as well, is all by mail which is nice.
True but I don't trust all this caging going on. Of course if you're away fro home you don't have a choice and you may have been targeted. I would check to see if you were on one of the caging lists especially if you live in Florida, Colorado or on of the Southern states.
If you were "caged" I'd sue the hell out of the billionaire who put you on that list, according to the value he put on the election.
I thought the debates last night were fascinating. Gov.
Romney dominated the conversation and portrayed himself as a candidate with a
backbone. Gov. Romney stated a lot of things that just we not true, for
example, his he wants to cut the tax rates but 20% which would cost $5 trillion.
The questions that many people had, including republicans, was “What are you
going to cut and by how much?” He recently was floating a “$17,000 tax bucket”
in which you could use you medical, interest…….until you hit $17,000. Pres.
Obama said that the $5 billion was his position all year, but didn’t
aggressively go after Gov. Romney. I counted 5 different issues Gov. Romney
changed his position like, “I didn’t even know there is a tax cut for moving
jobs overseas.” I was disappointed the President did not aggressively go after
the lies.
This morning I watched all the talking heads from the
national and cable outlets, even FOX. The talk on every channel was about how
Gov. Romney dominated the debate and why the President did not call Gov. Romney
out on the lies about his economic plans, education cost, ECT……. Then I thought
the issue in this campaign that could derail Pres. Obama’s campaign is “the
economy” and no one was talking about Pres. Obama’s impact to our economy. I’m
watching the talking heads now, and the conversation is still about the Pres.’ Not
attacking Gov. Romney’s misleading and dishonest statements. The topic of this
debate was “The Economy.” Pres. Obama Achilles
heel is has not been discussed. Is the President that smart, I don’t know? I
know the 2nd and 3rd debates are about immigration,
foreign policy, social issues and governing. The polls should Pres. Obama in a
commanding lead in all these categories. I suggest after the last debate this
first debate will be forgotten, along with any opportunity to attack the
President about the slow growth of this economy.
I think you will see an aggressive attack in the VP Debates
on Paul Ryan. He has a lot of baggage and an easy target for hot key issues.
This is where the fun comes in…predictions! I say there will
be a small bump in the polls for Gov. Romney by tomorrow or Monday. You will
see the Pres. and surrogates pointing out all the misrepresentations Gov.
Romney said during the debates (videos of Mitt’s own words), since they will
not have to respond to their own record as they would have during the debate.
The last two debates will take all the wind out of Gov. Romney’s campaign
because these debates are the most damaging topics to the Romney campaign.
Romney wallowing in his debate may very well be his downfall.
That’s just my view.

Ohio keep on keeping on and vote for POTUS!! Nia 2016 for you my sister, you have the vision, the moxie and intelligence for the presidency if the Us in 2016. She rock's.
I think early voting is fine. Whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, people have really busy lives, so it makes it a lot more convenient to have a variety of options available to people in terms of how they cast their vote. I would love to see a national voting holiday. Everybody gets the day off to vote. We could call it "National Civic Duty Day" or "Patriotic Duty Day." I think this would benefit people of both parties. It is better if more people vote. We forget that people died for our right to vote. We should honor their sacrifice by showing up at the polls.
