Over the past several months, Mitt Romney has touted his love of coal. In August, he held a campaign rally outside an Ohio mine owned by Murray Energy, one of the country’s largest coal operations. It quickly emerged that the miners were forced to attend the rally, without pay.
On Friday’s The Ed Show, Ed Schultz spoke to The New Republic’s Alec MacGillis, whose recent article “Coal Miner’s Donor” examines a disturbing new link between Mitt Romney and Murray Energy.
MacGillis’ report comes from the accounts of two workers in managerial positions who came forward separately to disclose the pressure they felt to donate to the Murray Energy political action committee and GOP candidates favored by the company, or risk being demoted or denied bonuses. According to MacGillis, CEO Bob Murray has denied the claim, but company officials do track who is giving and who is not.
The two sources requested anonymity for fear of repercussions, but they told MacGillis the same sordid story. “There’s a lot of coercion,” one said. “I just wanted to work but you feel this constant pressure that, if you don’t contribute, your job’s at stake. You’re compelled to do this whether you want to or not.”
“They will give you a call if you’re not giving,” the other said. “It’s expected you give Mr. Murray what he asks for.”
Since 2007, Murray’s companies, employees and PAC have contributed $1.4 million to right-wing candidates for federal offices including Scott Brown, David Vitter, Carly Fiorina, Jim Demint, and Rand Paul. So far, they’ve given the Romney campaign $120,000.
It’s all pretty outrageous, but Schultz asked MacGillis what surprised him the most. He described a shady operation:
“I guess I was surprised to find out just how long this has been going on and we haven’t really heard about it. This is an amazing years-long, widespread system that’s been going on where workers, when they first arrive at this company, are told, ‘Look, we expect you to give to our PAC, that’s part of working here. You’re going to sign a form that lets us take 1% of your pay to give to the PAC, we’d also like you to participate in Mr. Murray’s fundraisers.’ He has these constant fundraisers. And the letters just keep coming to people’s homes. The letters come from Mr. Murray, ‘please come to this fundraiser, I suggest you give $200 or $500 or $1,000, depending on your salary level, and you’re expected to go to this banquet hall in St. Clairsville, a little town near Wheeling.’ And one after another, a who’s who of Republicans come to this little banquet hall and collect these checks.”

The idea that Romney would let Murray use his employees in this way doesn't suprise me. Think back to the info that came out about mormons during the Warren Jeffs FLDS trial. Romney has no guilt about anything he does or says to us non-mormons. Lying to non-mormons is not considered a sin. We are unwashed "gentiles" in Romney's eyes.
Interesting that you say that....
It was just a year or so ago that the rightwing meme-du jour was claiming that it was a Muslim tenet to lie to non-Muslims:

Seems you don't know much about religion. Here is a clue, every religion believes it has the unquestionable truth, all others are false religions to sway the faithful away from the truth, which is a lie.
O God, we acknowledge you today as Lord,
Not only of individuals, but of nations and governments.
We thank you for the privilege
Of being able to organize ourselves politically
And of knowing that political loyalty
Does not have to mean disloyalty to you.
We thank you for your law,
Which our Founding Fathers acknowledged
And recognized as higher than any human law.
We thank you for the opportunity that this election year puts before us,
To exercise our solemn duty not only to vote,
But to influence countless others to vote,
And to vote correctly.
Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened.
Let them realize that while politics is not their salvation,
Their response to you requires that they be politically active.
Awaken your people to know that they are not called to be a sect fleeing the world
But rather a community of faith renewing the world.
Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to you in prayer
Are the hands that pull the lever in the voting booth;
That the same eyes that read your Word
Are the eyes that read the names on the ballot,
And that they do not cease to be Christians
When they enter the voting booth.
Awaken your people to a commitment to justice
To the sanctity of marriage and the family,
To the dignity of each individual human life,
And to the truth that human rights begin when human lives begin,
And not one moment later.
Lord, we rejoice today
That we are citizens of your kingdom.
May that make us all the more committed
To being faithful citizens on earth.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
--Fr. Frank Pavone, Priests for Life
Well he is doing the same thing in VA. Not all are stupid Alpha will open the mines back up after election but they are campaigning for Romney.
I assume we are praying to the same God. I ask God
to do what he thinks is right. Not what I think is correct.
God gave Jesus the politics to take care of the people, in illness,
disasters, and in ever day survival. He charged us everyone to
see to it. Not divided from those 47% and call them moochers.
Texas redneck: Keep your religion off of this blog. If you want to say prayers say them for yourself because I do not want to hear them. I am here to talk about politics and public policy as are most others. Christians have started plenty of wars in the name of God all so the corporate elite can make more money while slaughtering their fellow man. Having been a soldier who served during six of those conflicts, I have little use for Bible thumpers. Go away and be gone. Read Max Boot's "The Savage Wars Of Peace" that describes the many small wars that helped build the American empire and corporate power associated with it. In fact reading military history will do much to improve your mind by forcing you to see the world for what it really is. This learning will end your Bible thumping. It might even turn you into a liberal.
Do not believe in dogma in stone and dust
From men who lived and loved in ancient lands.
Do not believe what others claim you must,
For thus you leave your future in their hands.
Do not believe in gurus or the Church,
For their beliefs are based on guilt and greed.
The mirror of your mind, you alone must search,
For you alone can shape the life you lead.
Observe, deduce and ponder what is True,
For Truth consists of that which we conceive.
Awareness comes from what is True for you,
And we can each achieve what we believe.
If your Truth can advance the paths of Man,
Then follow it and live the best you can.
Rex and David,
I bet you boys were at the Dim National Convention weren't you. Part of the majority who voted 3 times to keep GOD out of your Dim Platform, and to puposely cast Israel in the cold.
I must say, I hated to see that, in a lot of ways. Denying 3 times??? that will send a chill down your leg. And watching the way the Dim Party, acting at the behest of the President, ran over, like with a truck, the delegates voices there that was... well unAmerican. Was obvious misjustice, and all the world saw it, and I know thats how they do things in Chicago but...we don't want our country ran like that.
Right because we know that you know all about Chicago oh wait that is right you just repeat right wing nonsense. Funny thing is there is no group of people as slimy and perverted as the GOP. Go take your whine back and get a refund, everyone knows just how disgusting business owners are when they are driven by greed.
There's no excuse for linking Warren Jeffs with the modern LDS Church (and you'll be hard-pressed to find a more severe critic of LDS, Inc. than myself on the entire Internet). Jeffs represents one sect of "splinter groups" who believe the Mormon Church was wrong in doing away with polygamy as doctrine in 1890 (okay, it was actually after the Smoot Hearings that began in 1904).
One can "hold LDS feet to the fire" on the lack of enforcement of laws here, however, and the horrible element is that Jeffs' FLDS sect may not be the most bizarre (Google up Kingston family, for example). And civil libertarians need to shut up on this subject; the extent of child sexual abuse and exploitation of women (like segregation, polygamy is inherently unequal) will make even the most hardened sorts gag.
And of course the larger issue is the "LDS spin" on the historical elements of the matter; these are the folks that invented Etch-a-Sketch history.
Some people give God a bad name.
The only time they drop it is when they
are trying to impress their beliefs on others.
The Republicans spend so much time and effort breaking up unions based on the argument that they organize using tactics just like these. I think the Dems should aggressively move forward against corporate personhood using the same arguments the Repugs used against the unions.
Come on now, religion isn't that bad, right? It is religion that exterminated millions during the dark ages and all throughout history, right? Religion is the reason there is still fighting in the middle east, right?
The problem is HUMANS and how they interpret these religions that were formed so long ago when HUMANS had no idea about the universe and evolution. Religion is a disease that infests our minds to believe in something that is just not true. Not the issue with a GOD out there, but the idea that if you do not follow "this" particular religion you are worthless scum and should be eliminated or at least not respected. Religion in general does not respect the beliefs of others and the right for all of us to form our own opinions based on logic and science....oops did I say logic and science, not part of the religious doctrines.
Really people, religion is the root of all of our problems, it was designed to control people through fear and fear is the way to run this world as far as the current rulers feel. If everyone understood that if there is a GOD, then this GOD would not want us killing each other over him/her, then the world would be a much better place now wouldn't it? If everyone had the basic knowledge of science and mathematics "BEFORE" they learn about GOD, then we would not have as much death and fear in this world. Face it, it is the human ignorance and greed that causes all of these problems and if we want to grow beyond our differences, then we all need to have this fundamental knowledge of science and mathematics.
Religion is NOT GOD.
As far as this article is concerned, typical bullying by some bloated man thinking he is above others and he should control others. These are the types of people that should have been eliminated during the dark ages and maybe we wouldn't have so many control freak knuckleheads in charge now. We would have learned, maybe.
I just wish humans would finally grow up.
I just saw a pole that tells Romney is ahead in Ohio, Va, Fl. and Pen. this is getting very hard on the nerves.
Faye: The polls have tightened since the debate but most of the ones I see show Obama ahead in Ohio from three to five points. He is also ahead in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Ohio has early voting and turnout has been large which is a good thing for Democrats. Its not over yet but Ohio is pretty much the decider. Virginia and Florida are important and no one can predict how these will go because they are statistically in a tie. I am just not sure that there is that huge number of undecideds out there. I think most people who are going to vote have already made up their minds. Obama has an excellent ground game in Ohio with many more field offices than Romney. If Obama can maintain his lead in the Midwest he will walk into another term in the White House. I am much more concerned about Senate and House races. The Citizens United decision and Super-PAC money have me worried.
Well that's just peachy Faye. I just saw a Czech and a Hungarian and they say Obama is ahead.
Now, tell us another Polish joke.
FAYE, you are definitely looking at the polls wrong or you meant OBAMA
MUTT IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE AHEAD IN ANYTHING.
To the Editor:
Political pundits covering the Presidential debate last Wednesday spent little or no time fact-checking Mitt Romney’s numerous lies. They were more focused on the participants’ style, mood, and body language than on the words that came out of their mouths. The pundits, after all, need to gin up excitement in order to keep their readers’ attention all the way to Election Day.
The truth is that Mitt Romney lied when he said that President Obama had doubled the deficit during his term in office. In fact, the deficit is on track to be $1.1 trillion by the end of this year. That figure is less that the deficit was when President Obama took office.
Mitt Romney lied when he said he never proposed a $5 trillion tax cut . He is on record as promising many times during the campaign to cut all tax rates by 20% (which would increase the deficit by $5 trillion), and he never specified how he would replace that money.
Mitt Romney lied when he said that he would seek to strengthen the role of government in the field of education. However, during the primary campaign, he continually promised to dismantle the Department of Education and turn the problem over to the states.
Mitt Romney lied when he said that he would keep some of the provisions of Obamacare. All during the Primary campaign and beyond, he vowed that he would totally dismantle and repeal Obamacare on his first day in office.
Mitt Romney’s performance may have had style, but his content was false and deceptive. Romney’s advisor, Eric Fehrnstrom, announced on television that issue positions were like Etch a Sketches, and could easily be erased and replaced after the primaries to attract new voters. Fortunately, I think American voters are too smart to let Romney Etch a Sketch his way all the way to the White House.

well I hate to say this because I am a christian,Mormons do not fight in our wars,Mitt Romney was a draft doger,he had 4 deferments, one was that extra long 2 1/2 year mission to France .while others went to Vietnam he went to France, theyjust do not fight for our country,if I am wrong I am sorry.I happen to think I am correct
I lived in Michigan at the time George Romney was our Governor
to Refresh my memory I just typed in both Google and Bing -Mitt Romney Draft Dodger ,there were the stories .
I saw some pictures of Romney in France, it didn't look like he was suffering any. Poor thing on such a difficult mission, much worse than Viet Nam!!! We are retired Military and Romney makes me sick.
Judy- Romney is not a Christian. The New Testament warns us against false prophets. Joseph Smith was the very definition of a false prophet. Mormonism is a secretive faith that allows its members to lie, cheat, & defraud the rest of the world. As long as they don't hurt fellow mormons then it's not a sin because we are unwashed barbarians.
Unions have been coerced into giving to the DNC and oBama with strong arm tactics. Many union members have seen their emergency and pension funds robbed and given to the Dims at great expense to their personal future and against their personal political wills. But when the Industry and Union that is the target that oBama wants to destroy takes action to defend itself, Ed thinks it’s a crime…
Ed, it still isn’t a crime to express your political feeling, with voice, dollars, signs, by political gatherings and to use our powers of influence to convince others to our side. I know that if you had your way no one would be able to say ill of dEar lEader. But fortunately for the USA, we can express, we can contribute and we can influence, Thank GOD for our Constitution.
The eMpty cHair has been shown for what he is. The bell of Liberty rang loud and clear on Wednesday night, the Tea Party has been called into the fight, there will be morning in America again and the Calvary is on the way.
Phase 2 Ryan-Biden kicks in this week. Get a ticket, you aren't going to want to miss this.
You are FOS Tex.
Most unions are Democrats because the GOP are simply out to destroy organized labor. So union members are usually quite strong supporters of Democrats. The reason that coal is declining rapidly has more to do with an abundance of cheap natural gas than anything else. Natural gas power plants will be built because they are easier to comply with the new EPA emissions standards for air quality and water quality. The other reason for the decline of coal for power plants have been the greed of power plant owners. Most pulverized coal power plants are 40 to 50 years old making them old, obsolete, and in desperate need of prompt replacement.
Even if you take the EPA regulations out of the picture, coal would be facing a major decline because the coal owners failed to make an all out push for new Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle plants with carbon sequestration. IGCC with CO2 sequestration still needs research and development but the coal power plant industry just failed to see the writing on the wall to make the necessary capital investments in this new technology.
Here is what has to happen if the coal industry is going to be saved: Major investments in coal gasification and IGCC technologies must be made by the coal companies. Coal gasifications plants can take coal and turn it into syngas which is chemically very similar to natural gas. Carbon sequestration must also be mastered which is at least five to seven years away. I think coal is still a necessary fuel source but we must burn it and get as close to zero emissions as possible. IGCC plants can also burn biomass fuels and the technology for hydrogen fuel cells can also be a spin off technology from IGCC. IGCC technology is almost twice as efficient as pulverized coal plants at 50% thermal efficiency as opposed to the 35% thermal efficiency of old pulverized coal plants. Engineers say that as IGCC technology matures it could reach 60% thermal efficiency. I have numerous engineering reports that substantiate this but the costs of IGCC are at least 20% or more higher than regular pulverized coal plants.
IGCC technology is expensive and can not compete on a cost basis with natural gas plants. Natural gas will dominate our base load power production but could be supplemented by syngas manufactured by coal gasification that are burned at natural gas plants providing the engineering research and development for the new technologies are implement. What I see as a realistic possibility is a renaissance of coal if we make the major investments in IGCC prototypes and coal gasification plants now. We also have to develop CO2 sequestration. We can grow algae for instance in ponds and the CO2 can be put into a pond in theory to make biodiesel.
If conservatives want to save coal as an industry, like I do as a liberal, we must support the necessary research and development in a comprehensive energy policy for our country. IGCC technology and coal gasification are not cheap and much more work must be done to make this very promising technology applicable for the 21st century. But conservatives will have to raise taxes, close corporate loopholes in the tax code for mature industries, and start making long term commitments for this technology as part of an Apollo energy program that uses wind, solar, geothermal, smart grids and biomass fuels. Clean coal technology exists but it has a long way to go to be commercially viable. Unless we make the necessary investments in clean coal technology such as IGCC, just get used to paying your natural gas bill. Coal power plant owners are way behind the power curve and should have been making substantial capital investments rather than living off of the depreciation of their old inefficient and depreciated pulverized coal plants that are now totally obsolete in the modern world.
Texas Scar which Union does as you say? About taking from the pension? Never happened to me or anyone I know, have been part of union for 20 yrs, new one on me.
Meanwhile Ed happily collected $200,000.00 from the unions.
No bit of news is too old for you to repeat and misrepresent, is it, Bill?
I am not suprised that Romney would let those hard working men stand behind him and loose a days pay because of it, but does he really think they would actually vote for him after that???? After all we know that those of us in the 47% he can't stand because we live off the goverment. I think the fact that companies do their workers this way should be investigated further to see how bad it really is. This is dispicable they should be exposed and shamed. It is bad to make people donate to your campaign, stand and listen to your speech and then loose a whole days pay. Doesn't say much for Romney does it!!!
The reason they are standing is that oBama wants to eridicat their industry and their jobs. He has said there will be no new Coal Burning power plants built under his watch. He would use the government to regulate them to death. That is dEar lEaders position. So what would you do if the way you support your family came under that pronouncement by the oBama?
The USA is the Saudi Arabia of coal. It is the cheapest form of energy available. It has the potential of not only powering you Government Motors Volt, but heating and cooling your home and keeping the lights on for US manufactoring and industry. China knows this and they are customers of US coal. dEar lEaders policies if allowed to continue will bring this country to its knees, energy under his policies will 'NECESSARILY SKYROCKET'. That is what he said, word for word. Ask your friends in California...
Sorry but Reagan and the GOP already beat Obama to that destruction when Reagan took the US off a industrial economy and placed the US on a service economy which created supply side economics in the belief many low wage services jobs could produce a stronger economy then a living wage industry job could. Once again you show that you know nothing about energy policies or how commodities work. It is rather amusing to watch you tea bagged republicans try to spin your beliefs of capitalism on energy, you cry the free market will solve all our energy problems yet ignore that the only way government can impact energy is if they took over all of the oil and coal mining done in this country. As it stands today the US exports more oil then it uses in fact oil is our #1 export. When you put energy on the open market the energy product goes to the highest bidder, which is way you can drill every last drop of oil in the US and never have an impact on the price you pay at the pump because all oil is bought and sold on the open market to the highest bidder. Same with coal and every other resource, the highest bidder wins, unless government controls its resources like Saudi Arabia does and a few other countries where government controls their resources. Which is why in the US the price always remains high there are no government regulations on how much oil companies sell citizens their refined products for because of no control of its natural resources, its left up to private business who seek profit.
WVhom
The US is a net exporter of energy? I think you have risen to a new level of exposing your ignorance of the issues, kinda like oBama did Wednesday night.
I think we better stick on the states and capitals for now, we will cover math when you get to 3rd grade.
Oil is energy like I said you know nothing. Coal is energy as well. When the US exports its natural resources it is exporting energy. Which then requires imports to meet demand. Then there is the problem of fungible commodities like oil which gets bundled together on the open market and is sold to the highest bidder no matter which country oil is taken from so the US nor the world will ever be free from foreign oil unless the government takes over oil production and decides what happens to oil.
USA Today - Net Energy Exports Approaching $1 Billion Per Day
'11 surprise: Fuel is No. 1 US export
THIS STORY APPEARED IN
December 31, 2011|By Chris Kahn
NEW YORK - For the first time, the top export of the United States, the world's biggest gas guzzler, is fuel.
Measured in dollars, the nation is on pace this year to ship more gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel than any other single export, according to US Census data going back to 1990. It will also be the first year in more than 60 that America has been a net exporter of these fuels.
Just how big of a shift is this? A decade ago, fuel was not even among the top 25 exports. And for the last five years, America's top export was aircraft.
The trend is significant because for decades the United States has relied on huge imports of fuel from Europe in order to meet demand, only reinforcing the image of America as an energy hog. And up until a few years ago, whenever gasoline prices climbed, there were complaints in Congress that US refiners were not growing quickly enough to satisfy domestic demand; that controversy would appear to be over.
Still, the United States is nowhere close to energy independence. America is still the world's largest importer of crude oil. From January to October, the country imported 2.7 billion barrels of oil worth roughly $280 billion.
Fuel exports, worth an estimated $88 billion in 2011, have surged for two reasons:
Crude oil, the raw material from which gasoline and other refined products are made, is a lot more expensive. Oil prices averaged $95 a barrel in 2011, while gasoline averaged $3.52 a gallon - a record. A decade ago, oil averaged $26 a barrel, while gasoline averaged $1.44 a gallon.
The United States is using less fuel because of a weak economy and more efficient cars and trucks. That allows refiners to sell more fuel to rapidly growing economies in Latin America, for example. In 2011, US refiners exported 117 million gallons per day of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products, up from 40 million gallons per day a decade earlier.
There is at least one domestic downside to America's growing role as a fuel exporter. Analysts say the trend helps explain why US motorists are paying more for gasoline. The more fuel sent overseas, the less of a supply cushion there is at home.
Refining companies will not say how much they make by selling fuel overseas. But analysts say those sales are probably generating higher profits per gallon than the fuel sold in the United States; otherwise, they would not occur.
The value of US fuel exports has grown steadily over the past decade, coinciding with rising oil prices and increased demand around the globe.
Developing countries in Latin America and Asia have been burning more gasoline and diesel as their people buy more cars and build more roads and factories. Europe also has been buying more US fuel.

i can not believe this! i thought i lived in america but obviously i am living in a 3rd world country where no one has even the right to keep their god damn pay check! i am soooooo furious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isa, you think it is acceptable for an organization you are forced to belong to in order to work, and forced to pay dues to, can then use your dues money to support causes you are against?
LOL typical misinformed tea bagged republican. Funny thing about tea bagged republicans back in the 80's when unions allowed them to opt out of the unions and deal with corporations themselves not 1 tea bagged/moral majority republican took the offer, guess they enjoyed the perks the unions got corporations to give workers. Should have heard them whine when they were given the choice to relocate or take a layoff, it was rather amusing to say the least.
Isa...there are thousands of union workers across the country who say that to themselves every paycheck when they see their union dues being deducted.
just saying...
capt re reg just lying.
The news outlets seem afraid to talk about Romney's faith. His family abandoned this country then came back when they were run out of Mexico. Warren Jeffs people are being investigated for fraud and other rip offs because mormons don't believe it a sin to hurt non-mormons. In answer to Fred, the mormons secret style of faith requires them to lie and deceive as well. The most important thing about Romney is his faith that allows him to lie to us. Even Paul Ryan will find out that not being mormon puts him in the boat as the rest of us!
Romney does not support unions because a person should have the right to decide whether or not they want to belong and pay dues. His own website states this in the Labor section regarding unions....... "Prohibit the use for political purposes of funds automatically deducted from worker paychecks." So Mitt once again you have shown us your true colors. When it is a union that is there to protect people that are not wealthy it is an evil organization and needs to be taken down. However if it is one of your buddies obligating workers to donate to his fundraisers that benefit the candidate of his choice, well of course that is perfectly ok. How many more lies must we endure!?!
I can only assume what you think. Your meaning is confusing, so I apologize if I've misinterpreted you. I am assuming you think it is acceptable for an organization you are forced to belong to in order to work, and forced to pay dues to, can then use your dues money to support causes you are against?
Well Rusty my friend, I think you nailed it accept for one thing. The cause supported must be Democrat.
There that just about does it.... Good translation.
BS Rusty. You are either ignorant about Unions or you're just shooting your mouth off. If you're looking for a job that has a union and you don't believe in unions, go find another job. PPL that have union jobs are there because they support unions and want to belong to one.
Tex ( the illogic one)- seems a little hypocritical to complain about a boss forcing employees to donate to his political cause. Likewise, same when unions use forced dues in a non-right to work state to support political causes. Also, using your logic, these employees Ed is talking about "should just go find another job".
These two issues are one and the same. And, yes, I've been on both sides of the picket lines in my career.
John. I vote that he's both.
Larry, I'm not surprised at any vote you would put up. You have much more in the way of feelings than using the old thinking cap. And that's not bad, I bet you are a fun conversation. Just not logical.
Rusty - By a curious turn of events, what you are talking about happened to me in my union. For several years the union was trying to get people to sign up for an automatic deduction for our PAF. I would not sign up. When I went to upgrade my license to a crossover license the union agent called our agent in San Francisco. Now, I knew both of these men pretty well. When the union agent in Baltimore told the agent in S.F. to assist me to get on a particular ship to do my observation time on, the first question out of his mouth was did I sign up for the PAF. When the Baltimore agent said "no" the S.F, agent said " well why should we help this guy". Now I had not said a word during this, but I finally spoke up and told him who I was asking for the help. His tune changed, but he did ask me why I wouldn't sign up, and my answer was "because you keep supporting the Republicans and they are working against our interests" ( which was true even in 1984). You see, first Richard nixon, then Ford, and finally Reagan all promised to start rebuilding the American flag shipping industry. They got bills passed, but then vetoed the funding for it ( which, by the way, was about 10% of what an annual farm subsidy bill was per year) and it would only have been for ten years running. When I gave my reason The S.F. agent said he understood and I got my help. The next year a light bulb went on in our union officer's collective head and they switched back to supporting Democrats again. Long story, but the point was I got what I wanted and it didn't cost the union anything. A lot more happened only a few years later, but that is another story altogether.
Robert- using mandatory dues for political uses is just wrong no matter if the union democratic or republican supportive.
Rusty - On that we do agree. The practice was stopped not long after. As I said in my first post, many things changed a few years later, including a complete change of leadership in the union.
Texas #7.2
So you " accept" that democratic causes should be supported!
It is sad that everytime something good happens for the country, and it does well for the President and the GOP hates it. I mean you all have no patriotism, you are so hell bent on getting rid of the President but you can't be happy for the American people. You want us to do so bad in America so you can be the saviour enough I want all of GOP without a job enough of your nonsense. Just to let you know many Democrats we don't do split tickets so now that unemployment is below 8% and you have no more talking points. If it was left to me none of the GOP would not have a job in govt ever again!!!!!
MarkO,
That is your perogative, it is protected by the constitution and I will fight for you to be able to express it with my life. You are entitled to your feelings and thoughts.
I see it different and I have a lot more talking ponts, believe me. I want to see our country great, I think the US is exceptional, I don't think the government builds my company - the band of brothers working with me do. When he PROMISED to let a bill be posted so that citizens could read it before it was voted on, I took him at his word, that was a mistake, dEar lEader LIED. When he tries to divide the country I love along racial, social, economic, relegious and regional lines I think it Treason. When he apoligizes to the World for America, and humiliates the good efforts to feed, cloth and help the third world, I Burn with anger. When his Administration allows a US Ambassador and 3 brave Americans to die in a Libyan attack and then oBama hides behind the skirt of hIllary, I think what a coward. I have more 'talking ponts' and will share them frequently. WE THE PEOPLE are here and we are taking our COUNTRY BACK !!!
Taking the country back to the dark ages and your just mad because you can't get anyone but the brain dead to agree with you.
texas,
you have the gop talking points down word for word.
we are sick of hearing how you are "taking YOUR country back". it is OUR country, too, and most of the american people agree with US, and think the gop/baggers have obstructed and filibustered enough.
YOU and your "dear leader" comments are IGNORANT AND CHILDISH.
i can't wait for this election to be over so romney can go home and play with his car elevator.
Whomitmay: The United States was built with a complex relationship between government, the military, and industry to form a vast partnership/complex that built infrastructure where people settled in family and religious groups to form the first communities. The U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were the tip of the spear for much of this development. Forts, surveying, building of ports, and the idea for building the Eric Canal all came from the needs of the military. Land grant colleges, normal schools, and public schools were started because the government needed along with the encouragement of schools all across America because sailors and soldiers who could read and write and understand basic arithmetic.
This partnership started even before the Civil War but ever since it has been going strong right up to the present. The transcontinental railroad, the steam boats, the dredging of rivers for navigation was done by engineers trained as West Point or Annapolis. Government contracts kept start up companies going especially when they served the needs of the military. The Navy built metal battleships with oil turbines driving electrical driven propeller shafts in the early 1900's. The Corps of Engineers dug the Panama Canal. The Army in WW I developed the modern truck system that took over in the 1920's. Radar, computers, modern solid state electronic, jet aviation, and ballistic missiles were all developed or refined from the U.S Army and the other military services used during the Cold War. The interstate highway system also was built for national defense needs by President Eisenhower.
So when the conservatives say "I built that company by myself etc" tell them to shut up and read a college level history book. The public sector helps the private sector prosper because of a eternal partnership. The government, the military, and the close partnership with industry form a vast complex that built America up. Failure to keep investing in education, infrastructure, and green technologies will retard our economic growth in the 21st. Entrepreneurs follow the footsteps traveled by soldiers, sailor, and airmen using prototype technologies on foreign battlefields years sometimes decades before entrepreneurs even think of applying that prototype technology for the commercial market.
The government and the military always does the heavy lifting first doing the hard work for entrepreneurs. The U.S. Army is using robotic technologies, drone aircraft, and the new Land Warrior digital system used by Stryker infantry units that are decades ahead of the civilian world. The U.S. military is also developing new green technologies on a massive scale to cut down its fuel bills for oil. The U.S. military is developing coal to liquid fuels, biomass fuels, and massive applications of solar and wind power on large and small scale prototypes. So again entrepreneurs walk behind in the footsteps of soldiers, airman, and sailors who are years ahead of them. Its always been this way and always will be regardless of how much ideological distortion the conservatives try to impose the historical record is what it is and the military-government-industrial complex is the point of the spear for nearly all successful technologies used in commercial mass production applications.
Rex - While I agree with all you have said, I can point to one civilian company that is supplying the military and has commercial interests as well. That company is I-Robot, you know, the company that makes that robot vacuum cleaner. Their company is making anti-terror equipment and robot bomb disposal equipment and other things for the military to try and help us stop terror everywhere we are. There is no civilian use for some of their equipment, but they are starting to get into other commercial side equipment as well.
Robert: We do not have any time for illiterates in the Army anymore. In fact, we need people capable of doing tech school or college level work. The technology is complicated and only getting more so as time goes on. All the military services are like this. We must have smart people to run the technology, especially to maintain the technology that is only as good as the technician who repairs and maintains it. We could see in five years robots increasingly doing much of the dangerous, dull, and dirty work for the infantry. This is the legacy of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. All military commanders are demanding more and more drone technology.
Even the Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Customs, and other agencies are demanding more drone planes in the air. In the future, no military commander will think of sending his airplanes or troops into harm's way without drone aircraft. We do not do any manned sorties without drone planes going overhead giving continuous reconnaissance information to commanders. We are literally witnessing a technological revolution in warfare caused by these drones. Soon we will have fewer manned piloted planes and most of our bombers and fighters will be drone aircraft. Technology is pulling the pilot out of the cockpit and into the headquarters building.
Civilian companies do of course do lots of research and development for their own specific applications that may or may not have any relevant military applications. Robotics will increasing play a major role in making more efficient production here in America. Dairy farmers have robots that actually milk the cows. But on the whole the military is developing a new generation of robots, electric hybrid vehicles, drone planes, and new types of solar, wind, and biomass fuels that are cutting edge. I also understand that business people work hard to develop their businesses. But these business leaders do not do things in a vacuum. The government building infrastructure, public schools, higher education, and providing funding for research has a partnership role to play.
I push for year around school, a Medicare public option, and increased funding for infrastructure investments. We need a strong public sector that will be a future catalyst for change. We have to have workers that can think in technical terms and apply the technology in ever more efficient ways. If our workers are not technically trained and well educated, our jobs will go to Asia for sure.
Nothing they do is surprising makes me sick!
Why can The twits Romney/Ryan lie so offensely? Their followers, as well as themselves, Simple Math. Voting for these nits does not make a good fit. People stand up and hear the truth today, as this election will not go your way.
A Proud Democrat!!!
Because they are politicians. Heck, did you notice the whoppers told by their opponents?
Really rusty when has a democrat went from a liberal democrat to a moderate republican over night. We saw robme go from hard core tea bagged republican to a blue dog democrat over night.
Lol whom- your guy got whooped. At this point,it does you no good to try to convince me. Also, you won't convince anyone except diehard obamaites. And, it takes more than stupidity to convince anyone, so you may want to try different tactics. But, I realize stupidity is your specialty.
Rusty. You are full of stupidy. You prove it every time you spout your crap. And that's all it is because that's all you have.
Larry- could you give an example? I know we disagree on about everything. But then,...
Now Rusty, you know Mitt is 'Miffed' about the president stealing his thunder when the jobs report came out. LOL
Tex, glad to see Obama has his game back. I've seen terriers like that. Cower back when faced with opposition, then tough as nails once the opposition is away. Usually gets the disqualified... Lol- he's talking tough now.
I figured Larry was just being goofy.
MR should pay for all their wages for the day ! He won't but you know that would go further than anything he's ever done. I've had it all and lost it all. Money is great, but knowing and understanding how hard day to day is for most of us is what MR cannot know.
I know both very kind and very selfish rich people. Kind ones share and help. Those are the type of people I really like.
Fake it 'till you make it -or- just plain selfish spoiled richy rich's - most never put themselves in your shoes. Also rules of success , etc... tells them to hang with people that have what they want. Problem is, w/o walking a mile in your shoes, they miss the boat in life.
Like someone being transferred into a position w/o working up to it. No real knowledge. No real understanding.
I'm so impressed with Joe Biden. He's the real deal. Looking forward to him taking on and out-debating Ryan. Normally I don't think this way, however... I hope he shows no mercy and cleans Ryans clock.
I can't stand Liars. MR and Ryan are both just that, I think.
Their 15 mins is down to 3, 2 ....
Go Obama / Biden Go !!!
oBama trying to whip the guys whole livelihood out, not miss one days pay, loose everything you have. I tell you if I had been a coal miner in WV I would have been standing too. I bet dEar lEarder won't show up at one of their company picnics. They might give him a tour of the mines....
This company sounds like they are Union Thugs!!!
It is absolutely unAmerican for a company to pressure its employees to donate to a certain candidate, even if they are burdened by the regulations enforced by candidate it opposes. It is just as egregious for a news network to try to make the case that the company is putting pressure on its employees because Romney is making them do it! Shame on MSNBC.
oBama enjoys support and pumping from MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and I would argue even FOX. They will not ask a hard question of this Administration, they cover for them at every chance. MSNBC is a full time oBama propaganda machine, cheese 'thrill down my leg' matthews is a full time bully, stepping all over the good people and patriots of America like they are ants.
What is the $ value of having all this FREE promotion. oBama wants to stuff a rag in the mouth of Preachers in the pulpit, regulate the internet, and control speech through his Political Machine. The fact of the matter is thatoBama, pEElosi and rEid's heavy handed approach to Health Care reform birthed the Tea Party. rEid and pEElosi are the mother and father of Tea... If they had done that effort in a bipartisen way, they would still be in control of the House and dEar lEader would have been unbeatalbe in 2012. Instead they choose to divide the country and force feed the people. Had to Pass it before we could Read it... nAncy was a PR nightmare.
Right because tea bagged republicans fools who were to stupid to realize they were calling themselves a sex act while protesting tax increases for themselves so the wealthy could keep their tax cuts and whining that the democrats were after their medicare scooters because the GOP misinformed them about AHC. Just who are these tea bagged republican fools, well 90% are left over Pat Robertson suckers who paid $700 a month to be healed by touching their TV's because Pat told them it would happen, they called themselves the moral majority but reality was they were not a majority they were just a bunch of half wits making Pat wealthy.
WVhom
Tea Party member don't engage in the a sex act called bagging. I understand that you might, and that is your business, frankly I don't want to know what you do in your 'free' time. I also don't know and can't imagine what 'bagging' is or what 'baggers' are and I DON"T want to know.
However I do know that it is derogatory, and meant to demean good American People, and I don't appreciate that. I also know that oBama, dEar lEarder, has engaged in this type of derogatory insults of these Great Americans. It chaps my hide and that is when i decided I would never capitalize his name again. Someone who wants to denagrate and make fun of good Americans will never have my respect, and I find it hard not to disrespect those who would respect those who do.
So you say Tea Party people are fools and stupid, I say they are good and hard working citizens. They beat the Hell out of pElosi and rEid in 2010 and will again in 2012. So go about your little 'free' time activities, but leave these Good people alone, it Ain't right.
Just look at the handle they chose to call themselves. As well as you tea bagged republicans prove daily that you are not the brightest bulbs in the pack.
WVhom
They refer to themselves as the Tea Party, as in the Boston Tea Party, not the one in West Virginia by the way.... : ) You are one funny Moron.
Don't know a thing do you. No matter how badly you want to try to change it the fact remains that the tea baggers chose the name tea baggers and used it for 2 years until they found out what tea bagging meant in slang so they believed they could run away from their screw up by changing their name. Really there is no political party called the tea party The only way I would be a moron if I believed a word you posted.
They sure did Whom, but what would you expect from morons that lick the boot that kicks them.
Hey John still up too huh. I laid down after dinner at 5pm and woke up at midnight, SO has the flu so shes been keeping me busy lol. Now I can't sleep.
WVhom,
I hope you studied your states and capitals while you were awake.
I'm not the one whining about states I know nothing about and pretending I do, that would be you. For example your rant about democrats voting for someone other then Obama, you are wrong those are blue dog democrats not democrats so being more conservative then democrats you find racists in blue dogs.
WVhom
So what you are saying is those Democrats that voted for oBama in 2008 and carried the state of West Virginia for oBama and the Dims, their racist. So are you saying all oBama supporters racist or just the ones in WV?
Really word games is the best you can do? You ever stop to think that just maybe they voted for Obama because of Palin. I do not try to get into the heads of why people do the things they do, the world is not black and white as you pretend it to be. Just because someone voted for someone doesn't mean they are voting for anything more then the other guy is just a piece of crap to them. Oh I understand in tea bagged republican land its always party before person which is why you find yourself supporting a piece of crap like robme, just so long as he mouths the words you want to hear or you just want more handouts then the guy next door gets because you believe you are entitled, the GOP is the party of the self centered self serving egotistical greedy people of the land. The sad part is watching fools vote for a party that doesn't serve them. How do we know this, very simple, you actually believe there are people who want to be on welfare instead of working, then you whine about the unemployment numbers without ever connecting the welfare/unemployed as being the same people. You also blame everyone except business for the unemployed. There is no one alive that would rather be on welfare then work because welfare sucks as does any fixed income, try living off $400 a month while every cost of living expense rises every month yet your $400 doesn't rise at or near what the cost of living rises. That you tea bagged republicans seem to believe that poor people in the 47% robme whined about are somehow hiding taxable income just shows how out of touch with reality you are.
WMhom
People in business are motivated to provide a service or a product to the market and make a profit. The profit part is what allows them to do this sustainbly. If they can grow their work force and make MORE profit they will. So they are motivated to keep making profits till they can maximize their opportunity.
This will give you something to concentrate on all afternoon. Take your time there are a lot of concepts there, don't choke.
teAxas,
your post #12.3-
tea party member don't engage in the sex act called bagging...i also don't know or can't imagine what bagging is or what baggers are and don't want to know...
on the one hand you find "bagging" so disgusting that you know that tea partiers do NOT participate in such a sexually dirty act, yet on the other hand you claim to not know what bagging is and that you DON'T WANT TO KNOW.
here's a clue; enter "rachel maddow bagging". that should give you all the information you need to draw your own deduction on what bagging is and whether it is something you might like to try, reminding you that this is a free country, and between consenting adults, "bagging" is a perfectly legal sexual activity.
i have never heard President Obama use the derogatory term "tea baggers" in regard to the "tea party". he might disagree with their politics, but as a Democratic President, that is nothing new. i haven't heard him insult them PERSONALLY, and if you have, could you please post links and i will apologize. i HAVE HOWEVER seen tea baggers with pictures of the President as a monkey, as a kenyan, as the joker. i have seen signs at tea party rallies with the word "niggar", saying President Obama is a terrorist, i have seen people carrying the confederate flag, i could go on, but i think you get the idea. it has been difficult for us who support the president to NOT SEE RACISM AS A PART OF THE CONFLICT when we have visual and audible proof that has told us SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT.
as our first african american President, SOME OF THIS IS TO BE EXPECTED. President Obama will pay his dues as our first black president because that is part of his job, people FEAR NEW AND DIFFERENT THINGS. it doesn't make it RIGHT, it is human nature. i am shocked, to say the least, at the level of animosity toward President Obama. your "dear leader" references smack of disrespect and bigotry, in my opinion.
i am sure that some tea baggers are good and decent people. there are many good and decent people who are bigots, they don't realize that they are, or they think its OK. many people who have been raised this way, or however it is that they came to have these feelings, see nothing wrong with these feelings, because that's the way it has always been. i am not accusing you of feeling this way, but i am telling you how it sounds to us.
despite what you think, it will be "normal" for bigots who do exist in this country, to want President Obama out of office, and will do whatever they think it takes to achieve that. it looks to me like some of those people have been elected to office and are working against our president in washington d.c. right now. it appears that they don't even care about the american people, as per their promise to each other to say "no" to all economic policies the President puts forth (example: the individual mandate a republican, conservative idea that they now act as if they have never heard. mitt romney, grandfather of "obamacare", mass).
when you refer to "dear leader", i can't help but think of your "dead leader", the leader of the repub party, ronald reagan, whom you all worship.
Suzette,
You asked if I had any proof of oBama denigrating good American citizens with the 'baggers' tag. Well here is one example reported by that wild right wing media outlet ABC News.
I was a Herman Cain fan, Romney is my third or fourth choice of the slate of candidates we started with. It is so easy to say this is about race. Cheap shot. We love our country and your insinuation that opposition to dEar lEader is race driven is absurd. Calling WW2 vets and gentle older Americans a bagger, shows that our President lacks the leadership skills to bring our country together. It was intentional, he wants to divide us.
Suzette
Pardon the error above, for some reason the vine erased my link.. Try it again:
abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2010/05/president-obama-gop-opposition-to-stimulus-helped-to-create-the-teabaggers/
teAxas,
i am sure that President Obama's use of the word "teabagger" is NOT the only thing you find offensive about our president. until i saw the episode where Rachel Maddow described "bagging", BECAUSE TEA PARTIERS WERE REFERRING TO THEMSELVES IN THIS WAY, THEY WERE REFERRING TO THEMSELVES AS "teaBAGGERS", i didn't know what "bagging" was.
now, if you are a "tea-partier", you might not like the phrase "teabagger". some baggers like the name, and i saw buttons on baggers that said, "proud to be a teabagger".
President Obama has certainly been called his share of denigrating, racist, hateful names ON PURPOSE. when i call teabaggers "baggers", i might offend some, but some baggers don't mind, some even like it. i'm not doing it to offend anyone, it's what some baggers like.
you can be angry about it if you like. we can't please every one.
i am aware of the fact that President Obama is NOT perfect. but i believe he has had huge obstacles to bear working with an extreme right-wing party, and dealing with the fact that he is our first african american president. racism has been a part of that, whether you believe it or not. human nature and OUR PAST HISTORY tells us that.
the fact that herman cain was your first choice tells me alot about you, and we certainly do differ on our politics.
Texas Scarborough=Propagandist
how about that? just look at the miners faces and that should tell yah somethin is up!
just think what that new rino of the GOP has in mind if he gets elected!!!!!!!!
you will have to pay to go to work for the job creators is more likely....or promise your first born to the company store....I owe my soul to the company wasn't sung by chance............
I would like oBama to meet that miner with his arms crossed standing behind Romney. I've seen that body language before...
Right but you have no clue as to who that body language is directed towards, maybe he is just angry because he was forced to stand that close to robme.
Robert S. McElvaine
The GOP's Big Lie on Job Creation
The entire Republican case in the election rests on the following claim, being made in varying wordings in the stump speeches of both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan:
The above graph, showing average annual job creation under Democratic and Republican administrations since 1945, with 2009 separated out as a year in which the disastrous level of job loss was plainly the result of the policies under George W. Bush, shows just how wrong that assertion is.
Since the effect of the stimulus and other Obama policies took effect, the level of job creation in his administration has been higher than that under four of the last six Republican presidents.
For the full story, see a piece I did for the New York Times this week:, "Has Obama Made the Job Situation Worse?"
Here is ANOTHER tip for the Democratic party as the Election draws near.....Ban ALL Newspapers, Prohibit the unemployed from voting and MAKE CERTAIN Chris Matthews relays his getting "Chills" when Hussein talks on EVERY show he does. (Which he has to date)
Here's a tip for you Scotty. Get another lobotomy. The first one didn't take.
I don't think he has anything to lobotomize.
We all know a blog troll named he's back
For whom twisting facts has a big knack
A new user name
To cover his game
Of posting doo doo that is so wack
Hope...
Couldn't have said it better myself...
Faye Napier,You sure are smoking some good POT,because you saw the pole in Romney-ville WAKE UP.
It seems that there must be some violation of law here.
How long have I been mentioning what Hussein has done to the people in the poorest region of the countries ONLY export? West Virginia voted for a FELON...INCARCERATED currently during the Dem primary other than for the failure that had declared war on their good paying jobs that provides for their families...Now You are slack-jawed and stupid with wonder... why these usually solid Democratic States would give Bammy the finger?????? You people have been in the business of ignoring reality for 3+ years now. Heeeeere's your sign.....
Really scottie you are going with that lie. And why is those regions the poorest why because VA is a right to work state. As far as the rest of your whine scottie what made you think uneducated racists in VA would vote for a black man, really scottie you act like its surprising that a state of misinformed uneducated racists would pick a felon over a black guy.
Here is a clue for you whom....There is a state called West Virginia. That boarders the state of Virginia....Scott was talking about West Virginia.....maybe you've heard of it...
Also, West Virginia is not a right to work state.
And you say.....a state of misinformed uneducated racists would pick a felon over a black guy.
whom do you reside in this state of misinformed and uneducated that you mentioned earlier?
Whum,
Did you take a fall big fella? hit your head did ya? I know someone as savvy as you, I mean a sophisticated man of the world like you are, knew there was a West Virginia, Right?
That is where one of the heros of the Dim Party came from... you know the longest serving Senator of all time.... Remember? He is a lib hero?? remember? He could pack more cash in a suit case than Teddy Kennedy. Is it coming back to you yet??? Well you could Google it but I think you would get all confused with the Virginia - West Carolina thing again. It was ...Robert Byrd. Remember. That feels better doesn't it, its coming back isn't it.
Ole Senator Robert Byrd. The Dims just love Senator Byrd, what a great leader he was, Dimocrat of Dimocrat, advisor to the Kennedy's - took them all over his beloved state, West Virginia, JFK made a big deal about it... Remember.
Senator Byrd, Democrat WV, KKK member - that is for real check me out. In fact you know what?? I know this is a lot of education at one time - Geography and History - but try to stay with me. ALL KKK's shared one thingy in common, THEY WERE PROUD DEMOCRATS!!!
From now on I will address you as WVhom so you I can help you remember your states, that will be nice, won't it???
Texas...you gotta think...facts, details and history just isn't some people's strong suit....LOL.....
whom....sorry bud....but your wrong again...WV is not VA....and WV is not a right to work state....
BOL more proof just how dumb the tea bagged republicans are.
West Virginia is the state that voted for a convict not Virginia...also....West Virginia is not a right to work state....so whom....
Your Statement....Really scottie you are going with that lie. And why is those regions the poorest why because VA is a right to work state. As far as the rest of your whine scottie what made you think uneducated racists in VA would vote for a black man, really scottie you act like its surprising that a state of misinformed uneducated racists would pick a felon over a black guy
One your facts are just a little messed up ...(But we are accustomed to that) West Virginia is not Virginia........
Your statement about why the region is poor....has nothing to do with being a right to work state ....since West Virginia is not a right to work state.....
However, it has a lot to do with the fact that West Virginia has been dominated with Corrupt Democrats like Bob Byrd.
Goodnight everyone.....Just remember....our Country is strong.....but it is not invincible....Freedom keeps us strong and as long as we lead the world in freedom.....We will continue to lead the World...
TAP
Goodnight America
WVhom
You are cracking me up... I think you and Ed have been doing something in your 'free' time, and while that's your business,...well bud its starting to show in your work. But it is entertaining as heck.
True American Patriot
I am starting to see that our work here will never be done. I didn't realize how little this bunch knows, I had assumed to much. I see now that we are going to have to go way way - well all the way to the start. My guess is that WVhom has probably been, how can I say this kindly... slow? for his whole life. May really not be college material, bet not, but if we can start with the states and capitols, he may .. well I just wouldn't want to make any promises.
I had asked myself so many times, how this hOpey dOpey and cHangey wAngey message sold to the American people, I mean anyone with a brain could see where it was and is leading, but then you meet WVhom and there you go... really sad, but there you go.
so Goodnight TAP and we will continue or lessons tomorrow.
Your opinion amounts to repeating what others tell you and that is as far as you go to forming a thought.
WVhom
My 'opinion' is informed by what I read and when I read that WVhom doesn't know that the whole subject of Ed's article and the discussion here is about a certain state, West Virginia, and instead you start bad mouthing Virginia VA, I form my 'opinion' and it is you are a dope. Then you say the US is a net exporter of energy, and I go ching-a-retta, this boy is dumber than a Box of Rocks.
Now do you know there is a state called West Virginia? Yes or No?
Do you know its different than Virginia? Yes or No?
Do you know that WV in NOT a Right to Work State? Yes or No?
Do you know if Coal Miners are Union Members? Yes or No?
Do you know that Coal is a Fuel? Yes or No?
Do you know oBama hates coal and coal miners and wants to eliminate both? Yes or No?
Do you know all KKK from 1900-1970 were Democrats? Yes or No?
WVhom, we can't continue your lessons till you pass this test... Now study hard. I usually give my slow students a hint, so here you go, pick the first one.
Right if you call your repeats of Fox news informed then clearly you are so misinformed you are clueless on what informed means. That you don't know who southern democrats are or what they were or where they went after 1964 also shows misinformation. BTW the KKK also had conservative republicans in it and since 1964 southern conservatives have went republican so what we see from your post is a lot of misinformation. It was northern liberal democrats and northern liberal republicans that voted for the civil rights bill the southern states voted against it.
This just proves his total disrespect and no concern for the 47%. When he said it, he ment it! Anyone who would force these hard working men, just trying to make a DANGEROUS living for their families, to loose a days pay and contribute to this, or any candidate should be unlawful......not to mention the idiot candidate that let it happen! But then....we're just the stupid, lazy 47% THAT DON'T MATTER TO ROMNEY! This, Mr. Romney you can't lie about or fake an apology. It seems when Romney is moving his lips, he's lying and he only moves his lips if he thinks it will help him and his rich buddies. You, Romney, are a JOKE......but not a funny one!
This just proves his total disrespect and no concern for the 47%
I don't have a hell of a lot of concern for anyone that is living off the other 53% either.
When the president calls people 'baggers' does that not PROVE his total Disrespect and None Concern??? I guess oBama wrote those citizens off, THEY JUST DON"T MATTER to dEar lEader, do they???
America wrote you tea bagged republicans off the minute you showed up at town hall meetings yelling you were proud tea baggers.
The baggers were around a long time before Barry was even born.
Wrong again tea baggers started the day Obama said he was going to reform health care to protect the uninsured. Before they were tea baggers they were moral less majority nit wits for Reagan made up of Pat Robertson suckers. So no they were not around before Obama was born.
The baggers have been around for over 200 years. It was the liberal welfare gang that started calling real Americans tea baggers.
You see we're going to shut down your little "nanny state".
They were not it was liberals who founded the country the conservatives were Torrie's that wanted to stick with King George. You failed 5th grade US history. Nanny state, what a joke, in 1776 everyone had to depend on each other as well as the government to survive. Your problem is you learned your history from TV land.
Liberals who hated taxes and repressive governmental rules. Leaders who wanted free of basically all government. Only after a number years did they decide the needed a few rules.
Whom, you have been getting your butt kicked on here as you goofiness and stupidity has been on full display. You should quit and move to the next blog, as usual.
Ol EDD must be loving this. Throw out the bait, and wait for the fish. Look, I dont think Romney had anything to do with who showed up at the rally. And, I doubt this company made anyone attend. It is not unusual for an employer, or a Union, for that matter, to request employees attend an event------and then, make up thier own mind. Has anyone ever been paid wages for going to a Union meeting? Keep the entertainment going EDD.
How amazingly funny , the projection-ism , cast the blame on others as you do what you do and then of-course Deny it and blame what you do onto others ! Coercion , coercion , have you ever heard of coercion , well , it is against the law ! But then these repubs/mormons do not adhere to the law and believe that they are above and beyond the law , I believe that this malfunction of humanity is known of as a person with and of sociopathic tendency's !
Seems Ed catches and returns even the rough fish." Kochsuckers"
These coal miners must have NO union or a very poor one, to do something like this is unconscionable. Just one step closer to slavery vote no on the corprotocracy!
The GOP/RMC "Speculator and Chief" has been trying to 'coerce' the US Constitution, the US Bill Of Rights, the US Declaration Of Independence, the Civil Rights Act Of 1964, and the Voters Rights Act of 1965. As the CEO at Bain Capital the GOP/RNC 'coerced' people into giving him their hard earned money to invest/steal. In the debate on Wednesday Night the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" was 'coercing' the debate moderator, the American People, the President, and the concept of the truth.
progressive.... I dont know what you just said but it makes as much sense as whatever Obama said in the debate.
US, throw a good number of hums, ash, you knows, er, and a significant number of other verbal pauses, and you would be right... Both were nonsensical.
I got its number its 7.8 I guess I call it a lucky number!
Quite possibly the first ever president to brag about 7.8% unemployment even if you sweep all of the suspicions side,
Doesn't take much to satisfy democrats. A few jobs and a really great security net...
i didn't hear the president BRAG about 7.8% unemployment. it's the repubs who keep saying that unemployment is over 8%, and they were hoping it would stay that way BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN DOING ALL THEY CAN TO KEEP IT OVER 8%. this has been a MAIN talking point for them, even though they hope it stays that way to increase the chances that mitt-flop will get elected.
i haven't heard any democrat spike the football or brag about the unemployment # of 7.8%.
i think your fear that President Obama will be re-elected is preventing you from seeing that we are only happy that the economy is IMPROVING, DESPITE THE REPUBS PROMISE TO EACH OTHER TO SAY "no" TO ALL ECONOMIC POLICIES THE PRESIDENT PUTS FORTH.
for the american people, we are thankful that we are moving forward, albeit slowly.
Suzette, you don't have to read long on these blogs to here gloating about the terrific Obama recovery with 7.8%. Perhaps you should read some of them.
I do fear an Obama reelection, but, if it would happen, and I predict it will, I hope he learns economics and is successful.
what i hope for:
that repubs will learn to work with our President, and not say "no" to all economic policies the president puts forth.
President Obama was elected by the will of the people, NOT BY VOTER FRAUD AS YOU ALL BELIEVE. as such, the american people have spoken, and our President should be given respect in regard to is policies. kevin mcCarthy said in their meeting when President Obama was inaugurated that "if you act like you are the minority, you will stay in the minority". conservatives agreed to stick together, and obstruct and filibuster everything. this is why we saw the debacle over the raising of the debt ceiling. this is why repub/baggers have the worst reputation of ANYONE in washington BECAUSE THEY ARE BLAMED, and rightly so, for putting us in the economic position we are in (w. bush administration), and then blaming President Obama for it, and NOT HELPING HIM TO GET US OUT OF IT.
MAYBE YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, BUT much of what the president has wanted to do ARE THE VERY SAME THINGS THAT REPUBS HAVE DONE IN THE PAST, and now they are saying "no".
the best example i can give of that is the "individual mandate", a CONSERVATIVE IDEA, but now it is one that repubs have completely trashed, and they call it socialism.
the "individual mandate"-it was constitutional BEFORE it was unconstitutional.
in regard to repubs-they have refused to do what they know will help our president, at least that is how they have viewed it. they don't want to give HIM a "win". in so doing they are hurting the american people.
Suzette- I've asked this before. When the GOP wanted to do things in th epast that the President wants to do now, as you claim, why didn't the democrats jump on them at that time? If the GOP offered what has become obamacare in 1993, why did the democrats reject it? Seems if you're right, then we could have been 20 years further down the road except for the fact that the democrats rejected it just because it was a republican idea??????
If the miners were told to attend the rally, or else, then the company should be ashame. I sensed when I saw the group standing, they did not look excited at all to be there. Now, I am sure that Mitt has heard about this and should have his team to investigate and publicy make a statement. Those miners are part of the 47%. Also, Mitt's apology about the 47% did not change my mind at all. What he said at that fundraiser is what he believed in his heart, and spoke. THE only way that I might reconsider his comments is that at the very next debate, he stand before all those who are listening and watching the debate and say, "when I was at that fundraiser, I said something about the 47% that I didn't believe. These people I was with were raising money for me to become president. I only said what I said JUST to get their donation. They are not really my kind of people, but you know, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, I just wanted the check, and I said to say something that would ensure that I get that BIG check. I didn't like being there and I would have perferred to go eat cookies with the nice company that baked those cookies for us. I am also going to pay out of my pocket the day's salary that those miners missed."
Mitt's apology about the 47% did not change my mind at all.
He didn't apologize..........he has no reason to. He's right!!!
No he is lying just because you believe the lie doesn't make the lie true. There are no people in this country that doesn't pay some form of tax.
There are no people in this country that doesn't pay some form of tax.
LOL
You're right. Your liberal welfare bimbo with 4 kids goes to the liquor store and pays tax on her cigarette and booze purchase with tax payer dollars.
Thank the lord for those bimbos.
Here we go again with the stupidity of the right. Here is a clue being poor with no way out leads to people seeking an escape sadly some turn to alcohol and drugs, alcoholism as well as drug addiction effects every class no matter what their income is. Robme is a Bimbo, Palin is a Bimbo, Bachmann is a Bimbo, John Boner is an alcoholic as was GWB, so your only problem with any of them is your bigotry and racism. That is all your post says, Racist Bigot.
My post says that bimbos don't pay taxes. They're leaches. Romney and millions of American baggers agree.
You mean your mom and your six sisters right Ente?
Of course Mittens doesn't pay income tax either so I assume you're also referring to Mittens and Ann Romney as well right?
Dumb is Dumb for Mr ED. He just gave the Swing States of PA, OH,and WVA to Romney by his remarks and the Obama's EPA who entombed 1200 working miners with false regulations. Trumka won't move his Union Ass to save these Miners. This is worst than the Chile Mine Disaster. Coal saved us in WWII and is our biggest energy source in the World. Obama/Bilden from Scranton thinks Coal is Filthy but the Sulphur smell is coming from this Regime. Today, Voting in PA was for our Man Mitt. Join up for Clean Coal.
Really hate to tell you this but, coal is coal. There is no such thing as clean coal. It all comes from the same mine.
Coal saved us in WWII? Really? I thought it was the ability to pump out a victory ship, and a plane a day in addition to warship a week.
Additionally, didn't we have a few genius generals and admirals in that war?
As a matter of fact coal would be pretty far down on my list of things that won WWII for us.
Larry, let's hear from you about what energy we should use right now? Please put the price per kilowatt hour and our ability to produce from that source, and if you would be willing to allow energy prices to increase to the amount you think it will cost.
Lol- since you are all of a sudden interested in facts, this should be fun. Perhaps your kinfolk, whom, could help you decipher it.
Seems that the blocking of job and holding down wages is a form of birth control. As of now births are down because of it. If this keeps up in 15 years we will need to import people to fill the future jobs. And those people most likely won't be white people OH NO!
xxx....I think you know how I feel about Mr. Obama's policies on Coal....
So instead of argue.......let's jam...

Could someone please explain to me why the Rep. always point the finger at one individual POTUS, but Dem. point at entire party, this puzzles me. I just wonder if it could have something to do a name or a color.
Nope its because tea bagged republicans believe they elect all powerful kings every 4 years so therefore that person, if he is a democrat, is guilty of everything wrong and nothing he gets correct. Now mind you it only applies to democrats when its a republican then its liberals and democrats at fault. Unless something good happens then its all the R presidents doing.
srfmike.....One possibillity is Republicans will look at the candidate and Dems look at the whole party as if its just a game they want to win.
I think he got up on the wrong side of the bed he has been lying in. Pun intended.
