Newt Gingrich said Jack Welch's conspiracy theory about the latest jobs report is "worth looking at" on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday. On Friday, Welch had argued that the Obama administration had doctored the latest job numbers for political reasons.
Though he called this particular theory "plausible but irrelevant" and admitted the report would be a "significant help" to Obama's re-election campaign, Gingrich also said Welch's words are worthy of consideration because they point to a broad public distrust of the current administration.
“It rings true to people ... You have a president of the United States so deeply distrusted by people like Jack Welch ... who is hardly a right-winger," Gingrich said. He added that it was noteworthy that, when positive job numbers were released, "Welch instantaneously assumes this is the Chicago machine."
Former Obama press secretary and current senior adviser Robert Gibbs appeared side-by-side with Gingrich and wasted no time in shooting the "absolutely crazy" theory down.
"The notion, quite frankly, that somebody as well-respected as Jack Welch would go on television and single-handedly embarrass himself—it's incredibly dangerous," Gibbs said. He said any believers in that theory probably "assume that the real jobs report is somewhere safe in Nairobi with the President's Kenyan birth certificate."

Considering that a lot of that distrust was deliberately engineered over the last few years by elements of the GOP. Gingrich is a pro at churning up fake controversy and turning tea pots into tempests.
jack welch is is very consevative so add that to the lies from the right. and anytime some poll or anything that is good for the president it's a conspiracy. keep grasping at straws people cause in the end we will win.
Newt Gingerich is the self-proclaimed expert on everything, the self-proclaimed brilliant university professor (he was an assistant professor at the University of West Georgia), the self-proclaimed spokesman for the Republican party on all things.
To the rest of us, he is a shrill, divisive, self-important buffoon.
Why his blather merits reporting is a mystery.
Let's face it; the white western immigrents who came in mass from Europe all these years, who now have their grandchildren and other relatives that for so long have made up the majority, now feel a threat from all of the other brown / Black and in between colors of our population that now has came forward. Instead of simply bracing this new blood of insightful and creative diversification, they simply want to blame the other person for America's problems. When in reality they are the problem, not the people who make up our population that brings into our lives all of their culture and heritage from around the world. Frankly the whites are becoming the minority population in the United States, just like they are the minority population around the world. If you talk with other people around the world like I do, you will find that America is looked upon most favorably by others as the great big melting pot of freedom and opportunities. What do we say to the rest of the world when the white biget race try's to tear these things apart by their behavoir that has been on stage in this election. I am ashamed to say as a white man that there are so many of these people living in America. I end up making excuses for them where-ever I travel around the world. But it takes time to make changes, and I sure hope these radicals and bigets will become less and less of an influence. We can only eliminate them from our society by voting them out and if need be; not even let them survive by educating their children to the real facts of what it really means to be a divesified culture, and what that diversification does in making us a totally understanding culture that God wants us to be.
